I redid the textures for my first cpu waterblock and started to mess with depth of field.

quit drawing em and git to making em!!!
damn you with your eye candy...
:P
Yep, I switched over to Maxwell since it seems to have much better support material-wise (and better selection) and it renders multiple times faster than Kerkythea.
Evil, think you could send a 2D profile of your BP barbs (something I can revolve around a axis)?
jonathankru: What's the IOR for your acrylic material? It looks too low, increasing it might help.
Well here is another one. I am still experimenting with textures so it is not a very good render. Will work some more on the render later and update it when i am done. :yepp:

Kudus, to metric and evil once again, masters of maxwell, been playing for about 2 hours so far, i have lernt not much :( can't change material + can't install material download from the interweb :( Will try again tomorow night :)
heres are the inventor and solidworks files  sorry no sketch up version :p:
edit:
@bentleya;
depending on what software you choose to use will determine weather or not i can help you in the actual rendering. materials and such we can share no problem, over all setup of the renders etc are the same but work flow of each software is different. i render through 3DSMAX or use maxwell studio, tho i like the flow of 3DSMAX more.
it won't let me download it evil? i just get random smbyails come up on a webpage :(
right-click save link as
also recommend you use firefox, when i click the link it asks me if i want to DL
i use safari, try to keep programs to the least :)
3ds confuses me more, i don't get it you get vray, maxwell, mental, i'm totaly confused i have maxwell and 3DS installed, so what ever is easier to learn :)Quote:

It must be nice to be able to afford the Maxwell render. :( There's no way I'd spend that sort of money, unless it was for a business venture! :shakes:
well it takes years of work to learn and understand the work flow of 3DSMAX, some pick i up faster then others. personally ive been using 3dsmax since version 5.
what are you using to model?
its a good thing im in the business :p:
definitely there's no reason you should have to switch over, you seem to be getting rather proficient with what your using. I personally have never used it but id like to see different lighting from you
Well, here's my first attempt at a waterblock. I finally got the gist of SolidWorks, so I threw this one together last night. I know I don't have an o ring, mounting hardware, or screws and such but I think it's pretty good for a first time. I'm still getting used to maxwell and I'm having some trouble with the depth of field as you can see by the blurryness in some places. Well here we go! Please feel free to criticize and give me pointers!
@Metric: What material do you use for the copper in your renderings? Do you make your own or do you download them from mxmgallery.com?
Block Rev. 1

Do you need sketchup pro to render things in Kerkythea Echo?
The renders look AMAZING!
FrostyPanda: Yes, the copper is one I made myself. You can download it here.
hotwaxisbad: Nope, you only need the regular, free version of Sketchup to render in Kerkythea.
Many thanks for the Bitspower barb Evil

I threw this together earlier tonight. I'll post pix's of the top parts when they're done rendering...

( Dayam...it's really late........1:44, 1:45, 1:46......)
Also, thanks for that material Metric
Um......not really haha. I just thought this looked cool, it doesn't have to be super functional.
But then I couldn't use acrylic!
Here is what the final block part looks like. i didn't make the field of view big enough, but w/e. I'll make a mount for it when I get home from school.

Nice stuff guys, wow very cool, i would like to get into this, what program would you recomend for a total noob, thats not to outrageous in price ? i have lots of waterblock, and heatsink ideas i would love to render.
The completely free solution would be Google Sketchup and Kerkythea.
FrostyPanda: Great design. With your current pin structure, it would make more sense to use the same flow path as the Fuzion as PrometheusCon suggested. You could always have the middle section be made out of acrylic as well
