intresting problem..
Bios version 12
Set in bios fsb 266 CPU Vcore 1.32 rest is auto
but..!

Bios and Uguru says 1.32v

before using abit i have asus commando. @ 3.5ghz 1.52v temps are 42-44 celcius but now cpuz says 1.55v but temps 36-34 celcius.. wich one should i believe ?
Hey Spyrus I have the G-skill 2x2GB PC 8000. Currently I'm running 9*450 with 1:1 divider. Just tell me what settings I should use and I'll test em out, divider 1:1.20? And DDR2 voltage 2.1-2.2? Anything else I should change? Oh and what shall I test with, Orthos blend good enough?
I didn't have my system stable at FSB500 after all even with MCH up at 1.46. Don't know what the problem is. Currently these voltages with 9*450:

Set relax timings for start:
5-5-5-20-55-8-4-4-4 should be ok
Test with memtest 86+ test 5 every time you boot on higher fsb.

I have them just at AUTO at the moment. I'll try with the timings you gave me, don't have bootable memtest so I'll use the orthos blend.
Edit: Well I set the timings in bios and booted to windows with 9*430. Orthos Large FFTs ran for about an minute and then stopped with:

Memset showed that the timings were indeed changed. Seems like these sticks aren't that good with this board?
Edit2:Tried some more now and 9*420 memory being at 504 ran orthos large FFTs successfully for an hour with settings:

But when i popped FSB up to 430 orthos couldnt run for even a minute.
I hope you have the latest bios.
Also set command rate to 2T.

Just installed one qx9650 instead of my E8500. Just for some testing ofc :)
Running final 12 bios and the problem is that org multi is 9, when i try to put it on 10 or 11 it wont boot. When i enter bios after failed boot the multi is on 11.5 for example. Which bios do u recommend for quads? Where can i find all betas??
I have the latest bios, bios id 12. The command rate has also been at 2T the whole time. I doubt that setting MCH to 1.50 will change anything since I allready had it up to 1.45 and the system has been 100% stable with atleast 467FSB 1:1 divider. When I tried 9*430 I tried it with AUTO setting and also with your posted timings aswell. I'm sorry but I'm done tweaking for now, I tried if those sticks would work at 900mhz 1T and the next time my machine booted I saw "Bios checksum error" on the screen :clap:. Luckily when i restarted it started working again. Got a little scared there that I :banana::banana::banana::banana:ed bios up and would have to change it.
Maybe you should take some other sticks if you want to use the 1:1.2 divider, cause unless I have missed something these pretty much only work at stock speeds.

Back to my multipel problems with my qx9650. Is there anything in bios i have to disable/enable for enableing the higher multis? Tried official 11 and that really sucked. Anything over multi 9 didn´t work, then it was keept on multi 6 whatever i was doing......Now i´m on beta 9 and still nothing works :/
Tested my E8500 quick and i could go up to atleast 540fsb....Didn´t try any harder. But i noticed that the cpu needs less vcore with 9 against 9.5 multi...
EDIT: Ace-a-Rue this cpu i have can do atleast 4.8 on ss. Good or bad i don´t know ^^
Can anyone run all dividers stable? I only can use 1.5 but i'm note sure on what this depends on.. Memory is HyperX PC2-8500 (D9GKX?) CPU E2160 (stable@3.2@1.41V). Maybe I should try another CPU?! :shrug:

Test a Quad GT myself. I have also a Maximus Formula.
Abit cannot overclock memories. This is also happened with IP35 Pro exact
the same behaviour. On 5:6 divider memories cannot past 560 stable
although tested on Maximus Formula that do easily 600+.
Another thing is the Performance Level.
On both IP35 Pro & Formula is 7 but here seems to be 9 for 450fsb@540 memories on 1:1.2 divider. This is too slow.
I am using latest official 12 bios. Also i have two strange things in bios:
1)I have an 8400 but it gives me 9.5x multi to play (did not set it though to see if it works). It has been reported also by other users in this thread.
2)Also when loading a profile at memory divider setting it shows unknown symbols and set memories to 2200+ Mhz. Very strange bug!!
3)The memory overclocking might have to do with tREF. This is the only option
that according to memset differs in Abit and Asus. I have tested with exact same modules. I think 3120 that set Abit there is too tight according to 16000+ of Asus.
All other settings where same on both mobos.
4)I have set vcore to 1.325. On idle it is 1.33-1.34 and on load 1.30-1.31. CPUz 1.44 though shows 1.5V+!
I have not the time to test further be right back after work.
I will try the 400 fsb /600 Mhz divider to see if it works.
This 1.5 divider should work for you. But test it and post your results please ;) I'm going to test my memory on Asus Maximus tomorrow.Quote:

Just note that :
1)Divider 1:1 on both boards is on strap 400

Much of a difference. As performance wise at same clocks:
Abit IP35Pro>Asus Maximus Formula>Abit Quad GT
The good thing is that VTT is as low as 1.1 (this is enabled only on E8xx i think) (also on Formula)
Also boot times on Quad GT is much faster that formula ( second delays on reading usb and on searching for boot devices)

No post/boot trying either 9x400@600 (divider 1.5 strap333) MHz memories
or 9x432@540 MHz memories (divider 1:1.25 strap 333)
Unfortunately at 9x450@540 divider 1:1.2 (strap 400) PL=9 though both
formula and ip 35 pro could do pl=7 with ease (formula up to 500+ fsb as well running memories at 600MHz!).
tREF cannot be changed in either 3 mobos from bios (only memset and only in formula but i did not play with it).
I hope a new bios can fix the PL thing is the most important.
A tRD bios option auto +/- 1,2,3 or (4-10) would be the magic in this mobo.
Also tREF.
Timings though can be set as tight as formula or even better but everest latency is 58ns instead of formula that was at 53ns.
I am testing orthos stability now playing with GTLs.
Also i will give a try to 12 beta 08. But i hate myself being a mobo tester don't you guys?
The bad thing is that Abit takes a long time to release bioses not great work there (remember it also back in NF7-s days)

The fastest S775 mobo still was my 1st one, the AW9D-Max (clock-by-clock wise). Then follows the P965 QuadGT (latency/Bandwidth with only ~1000 Mhz), then the IP35 Pro and the X38 is somewhere off... sure the newer chipsets can handle more FSB, more Memspeed (usually), new CPUs and so on. But do they have to get slower and slower at lower clocks? :(

Abits' can overclock only few ram modules.
But i think with 2x2GB modules it will have better luck
because of manually setting of tRFC (formula only on auto can have 52+)

This board seems to have a little compatibility issue with some RAM. One of my friend had trouble running Geil Black Dragon 8 GB on this mobo. No post at all. After he changed the RAM to Team Elite with the same size, his problem was solved.
The same problem had been heard with OCZ Titanium Alpha that belong to one of the member here.
About the CPU-Z sensor, I think it actually have a little problem detecting the right voltage for this motherboard. The newest one v1.44 shows no difference.
I prefer using Everest for seeing the right value as it shows same voltage as shown in uGuru. :yepp:

unfortunately, trying the CPU on another mobo won't be a possibility for me. I took the multiplier down to 6x in BIOS and speedfan still showed the temp difference but cpu-z showed the multi's correctly. Im thinking that maybe cpu-z just isn't reading cores 2&3 correctly. Also is the cores where indeed slower than would they finish prime tests more slowly than the other two cores? As is they are all about even.
Think this is a false alarm. Just a coincidence that the two cores that happen to be cooler also just happen to read slower in cpu-z. Hypothetically, underclocking to a multiplier of 6 should have effected the temps if the cores had been running different multipliers. Also, it should have shown up in prime if half the cores were running 1ghz slower. I'll just assume all is okay.

Intel CPUs can NOT run their cores with different speeds, that's something only AMD's Phenom can do. So if you're running at 3Ghz, be sure that all your cores are running at that speed. Try using a benchmark such as Cinebench so see whether your 4 Cores are being utilized properly. First run the single core benchmark, then xCPU. You should see a speedup of 3,2-3,9 depending on your memspeed, mobo tweaking and so on.

i would use Uguru's "Black Box" to report that problem to Abit technical....i had to for my QX9650 where it is locked at 9x and below multi with the latest beta bios for the IP35 Pro board.

Those version 12 BIOS are good, but also come with some weakness' in each of them. In my perspective: (I'm using a Q6600 + 2GB Team Xtreem PC1066)
12B06: Good and fast, but the 1:1.25 divider won't work properly on speed above 400Mhz and also the voltage range preset in uGuru detection was wrong, so I have to disable the BIOS alarm.
12B09: Good and the fastest BIOS, the divider has been corrected, and work properly. But the updated JMB ROM version in this BIOS was giving me a hard time, so I downgrade to 12B08 version.
12B08: Good but rather slow in performance when compared to both of BIOS'es above. The divider bug hadn't been corrected in this version, but I think this is the best BIOS for me, as I don't use any other divider except 1:1.5 all the time. :)
Oh, and one input for you m8, why don't you try to reflash your BIOS again with this parameter here? (Try BIOS 12 final)

I gave up IX38 Quad GT because of slow memory performance compared to Formula.

one of the things flash menu does not possibly do is flashing the "Boot Block" which houses your voltages and memory straps...i always make sure that the "wb" switch is added for the flash...see my DOS flashing guide in my signature for more information....many have used with success, even noobs.;)

I'd stick with the quadgt or go with the DFI. The only Mars I'd have is the chocolate bar :). It';s awell made board but the bios voltahes are too coarse, like my p5k before it, have been able to do all kinds of clocks but >3.6k , very few are that stable.

difference between IX38 and DFI LT X38 is going from 5 phase digital PWM to 8 phase digital PWM...there is a better heatsink on the DFI PWM but you are going to remove that anyway:DQuote:

I'm thinking about doing the Vdrop/droop Vmod for this board. My question is what can I expect to see if I do do it?
right now I set 1.42 in bios for abut 1.37 actual or 1.64 bios for about 1.56 actual.
what can I expect if I do the Vmod? If I set 1.6 bios will it actually be 1.6 underload?
I see that if I use an USB keybord there are no freez in BIOS. Why can't I OC my CPU more ? 334(Mhz-FSB)x9=3ghz and 1,5V. What voltage should I raise to achive 3,6Ghz ?

MCH 1.50
CPU VTT 1.30
Other voltages are
Vcore 1.3375
ICH 1.10
DDR2 2.050 (Had them @ 2.2v when testing 500 FSB)
I had the mems @ 1000 with a divider testing how far they would go. Well They didn't go much over 1000 but atleast 1000 worked. So it shouldn't be a memory issue. Also I have the system stable now @ 9*450 with that vcore and when I tried 500 FSB I had it at 8*500, so it should not be too little vcore either.

If you look a few posts up you will see my q6600 1hr blend prime stable at 514fsb, which did turn out to stay stable. So to answer your question yes it can run 500+. I would try with higher mch. It takes mine about 1.6v for 500 to be fully stable with my q6600. I dont know if quads tend to need more for 500 then a dual core or not. Even with 1.75v on my mch it stays a cool 43c at full load but for some reason I think its bugged, that is what the probe says though. Try a higher mch :up:

I tried to see when it starts to give me problems. It seems to work quite well up to 490 atleast, didn't even up the MCH from 1.30! When I tried 500 it ran for a couple of seconds :(.
What i´m doing wrong
I have a strange problem with this board, when i turn the power on the computer don't start immediately i have to wait several seconds then i starts, the other strange thing is when i do the shut down the computer and want to start again, the computer don't start i have to power off the computer and then power on and start button, can some one help me?
