Epic lulz
haha good one :D
what happens when you press the button ? :p:
That ting plugs into the last PCI-slot right? In case, it should be possible to use on other MBs too i Guess. Or not?
In the PCI-Express slots Sam, yes.
why in the world did asus made this stuff?
can you even use that?
This is Perfect for all kind of GPGPU-setup. Both for those doing GPU-cranching, but more importantly for those who use GPGPU for scientific research, simulation, etc.
With these expansion-cards you can get a really big GPGPU-based supercomputer in a little box.
doub't you can use it like that!
this expander usually connects to pcix1 and pcix3 on the r3e, thus providing 32 pcix lanes between the 4 pcix slots on the expander and the cpu.
the expander itself uses two nf200 chips to interconnect the 4 pcix slots on the expander to each other.
as a result each of the 4 vga cards connected to the expander will see and be able to use full x16 bandwidth and allow 16 lane wide communication between all 4 vga cards.
communication between vga cards and cpu is still limited to 32 lanes in total.
have a look at the pictures here: http://www.pcgameshardware.de/aid,74...e/?iid=1291550
Lanes to the people !!! Niceee
How does this even make sense? You're splitting more and more PCIE lanes off one parent lane each time ... what?
either its a joke, or the author of the original story has no idea what he is talking about ...
anyway, this expander brings at least 4 true 16x slots to the r3e. same as evga did with their 4-way classi from the beginning (2 x nf200). but keep in mind the limitation of 32 lanes in total to communicate with the cpu. this is x58 limitation and can not be changed by the motherboard manufacturer.
I really dont think it is usable, I'm sure they just did it for a laugh.
This is how it goes on the board: http://www.overclockaholics.com/foru...ead.php?t=3212
And thx to Hazzan: here as well http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=258167
For this :)

Silly way of showing though they have three (though 2 are Dudes :p), while we moved earth and sky to just get one sample only for a few weeks :shakes::
