Anyone else here ordered one of these ? .. am toying with the idea of going fully ATI/AMD(current setup is ATI vid/Nvidia chipset/AMD 939 proc)and this board is now in stock at Scan so its kinda tempting ...
The thing giveing me pause is that the layout is rather bizzare, and im not realy sure if it actuly makes dual crossfire'ed 2900's imposible or not .. realy hard to tell and Gigabytes website has yet to be updated with the product page yet alone the manual.
I dont think they got it in stock now...I think its possible to use dual 2900 CF , but no triple or quad CF, only if you got single slot cooler, like the new RV670 GDDR3
They have 6 of them in stock as of around 4pm today. I have no interest in tripple or quad CF, only posssibly dual at a latter date.Quote:

Been looking around and this board hasnt shown up on Gigabytes web page as yet .. nor has AMDs pages got any mention of 790X chipset. Overall the amount of "Noise" on teh internets about 790X seems to be pretty much non existent.. not sure what kind of omen this is realy but i guess ill find out in a few days.

Just cheaked track and trace for my 790FX-DQ6, and quess what, Iīm getting mine tomorrow! Pitty that I work late thoug.... Got 3 new kits of ram to test with it :D One kit of Ballistix PC8500, one Ballistix PC5300 CL3 and a 2*512 kit of Team extrem PC6400 CL4. Hopping my 6400+ Black Edition likes 790FX power to!

Can somebody test this board compared to NF570/590? I heard rumors that AM2+ boards will be few % faster than AM2 with K8 CPU's.
Bit of a change in plan regarding build .. changed case to a Z-Machine (which was the case I was going to get in the first place) and added a Raptor X to the build as well for that extra bling bling and all :)
Probibly will not get the stuff to build until Friday it would seem .. am rather apprehensive and all as this will be my first rebuild/build in about a year.
looks like i'm going to have to buy an AMD CPU after such a LONG time

Sorry I canīt do any more testing right now, Iīm only home for lunch... Will do more testing later today. As for better oc, YES this board is much more stabil then my DFI 570/590, Priming know @ 3440 max with other board was 3370 or so.

BadNizze, could you please check max HT link and base frequency the board can handle (with lowered cpu-multiplier) - even if it might be limited by the cpu.

btw, i've recived four HD2600XT's samples today, but even with a single slot cooling solution they don't feet :( The screws from the back of the card make it impossible to run four cards, as u can see in this pic:

Cpu temp is high I know, 28C ambient temp was making it hard to cool my Black Edition...
Cpu overklocking: My cpu would not run prime over 3370mhz on my older board DFI 570 Ultra or on my DFI 590 Ultra even at 1,55+ with good tems. Working on getting 3445 prime stabil know, 265*13 1,472v, 30 min stabil so far. Same cpu would not boota over 35xx mhz on my DFI boars.
A couple of things for Gigabyte to fix with a knew bios!
1:Only 2,3vdimm! What the f**k is upp with that! Need 2,5+ on a high end board like this!
2:Setting tRAS in bios does not work, Every setting turns upp as "18" in windows, no mattther what i sett in bios.
3:Setting tRC in bios does not work either, same as above.
(Use MemSet 3,3 for this!)
Ram clocking is GOOD in this board as long as you keep a couple of things in mind.
1: Don´t go over 1000mhz! (my ram easly does 1200mhz 5-5-5-15 @ 2,2)
2:Keep 1T!
3: CL3 and CL4 works best for me!

I hope we could help each other with ram settings! Many new settings for me... When You use Easy tune in win, keep an eye on V-core. 1,6 bios gave me 2,2v:caution: @ Easy tune. Glad I see it before i pressed "Go"... 2,2 Would not have been kind to my Cpu... Upp to 1,5 bios, gives acurate easy tune readings\settings.
Uppdate: Saddly Prime gave me an error shortly after i pressed "submit". Best stabil is still 3390mhz @ 1,44.

It does sound like the bios needs to be refined a little. I wonder Vcore is really that far off at the 1.6v volt setting or if Easy Tune is giving a false reading. The only way to check for sure is to measure the vcore directly. Ether way, I'm sure Gigabyte will fix the problem.
Gigabytes are usually a little lame when it comes to the amount of vcore and vdimm you can give. I doubt a bios change is going to give more than the 2.3vdimm you have atm. The good thing is that Gigabytes are usually very easy to volt mod.
Too bad they're not for sale in the US, I'd love to give one of these a try.
Anyway, keep up the good work. Nice to see something new from AMD running well
Fot those of you lucky enough to have the board could ya clear something up for me that I have just thought of.
If doing dual Crossfire, can the two cards go in any of the 4 available PCI-E's or do they as the colouring would suggest work in "pairs" ? .. as I dont intend on going quad CF but do intend mid/long term going dual this would make the werid PCI-E layout a mute point for me compleatly if you could put the cards in any of the slots.

First of all BIOS F1 is a bit buggy but I can live with it for now...
HTT speed I reported was stable, I did 3DMark01 run and 06 at that settings ;) .
Now I have some good news as for performance of this board and some not that good news regarding ATiTool working on it (under XP x64)...

it's rock stable and performing well at 3500MHz/1.502V with power consumption 40W lower than same configured system on nF570U!
Bad news is ATiTool 0.27b2 is blue screening my system everytime I'm trying to load it :(

Seems all DFI bords are buggy, unstable,die etc... Im not sure weather to take the plundge and get this New MSN 790FX or wait till the Asus 790FX wich layout i prefur :D
I don't blame the DFI for this case, it's had a very hard life on the workbench, and been the workhorse for a few WR's, I will miss it :)
I bit of a bump in da road for me, I get rounding errors in prime 95, blend test. At previosly stable settings... Testing Small Ftt´s know? Rounding errors is memory right? Psu new, Corsair Hx620w, rock solid! Memory is Crucial ballistic 8500 4-4-4-18 1T, 2,2v.
Could be that these bords are really too new... buggy.. maby need to wait for newer revisions .. or new bios might fix..
All Am2 mobos are 1000 (2000Mhz HT)... what is max rated for these new 790FX series?
Or my Cpu took a beating when I was trying to boot a t 3,7Ghz with 1,7v :rocker: Need to test diffrent ram to be shure.

With perhaps lower divider, could you try 400fsb x 8 or 9 interested to see if this mobo likes/capable should be as im using 590SLI chipset here :D

V-core was 1,408 same chipp as I´m useing now ;)
This proves that mobo is playing a big role for Vcore settings when OCing 6400+(compare Eddie's and BadNizze's vcore settings for the same clock).

Same settings as CF run! Now I can see how well CF scales in this benchmark!:)
I wish 06 would scale same but clearly my CPU is to weak for it!
