Ok I got a
3.0e @ 4.1 gig 275 fsb 1:1
How would it comprae to an AMD Fx CPU ?
I just want to know which fx is comparable to my cpu.
So arguying, just facts please. :p

I'd say an FX clocked at 2.5 Ghz.
You are about as fast as a stock FX55 right now.
I had a athlon fx55 at 3.1-3.2 gighertz and could get 82k out of it in aquamark3d on my geforce 6800 ultra.
On my P4 3.2E 478 mobo at 275FSB i am at 4400mhz lax timmings and 5:4 ratio i get 79800k .
Its not worth the money to spend it on the FX55 , i ended up returning it and just upgraded to a 3.2E 478 for 50 bucks after selling my 3.0C for 150 dollars.!
Plus windows surfing is so much better! the FX55 is not as fast in windows as the P4 at high speeds. I am running a Vapochill LS so i know.
I should have some gskill ram coming in in a few days and i am hoping for 1:1 at 280 fsb , we will see.
But yeah the FX55 is fast in games but to tell you the truth i cant tell a difference now , with my cpu and the fx55
I wouldnt waste the money on the FX55 just because the mobos out there SUCK!
I would wait for the fatality by abit from AN8 amd mobo.
To me its just not worth the money , you would be happier makeing smaller more incremental upgrades for the money like i did.
Forgot to add i would take a 3.8E JO stepping overclocked to 5 gighertz on the fatality board over the athlon Fx55 at 3.2 gighertz on any mobo right now.
2MB prescotts come out i cant imagine what it might be like

Unrealcpu did u notice a significant difference going from the northwood to the Prescott? I am thinking of upgrading as well.
Asus P4C800ED P-M 730@2.8 7700Cu
2X1GB OCZ - ATI X800XT AIW - OCZ PS 520W
Prescotts have a horribly long pipeline and are famous for having a sucky cycle per clock number. EE's and Northwoods on the other hand have a much lower pipeline. A Northwood at 4.1 would perform much better than a Prescott at that speed.
But sometime ago I read in a few reviews that above a certain speed (~4ghz) the Prescott begins to shine. In the end, I just wonder if the improvement obtainable over a Northwood is noticeable in every day's applications.

The prescotts shine above 260fsb ..
righty ho
I think the point was that the prescotts get that high, not that they're better at that speedOriginally Posted by NoX

AMD FX55 will take you at 2.9 gighertz
2.6ghz=4000
2.8ghz=~4250
something along those lines....now if your doing 260x10 then it'd probly get a 4100
jjcom
If you are on air get the LGA /925x board and the fatality and 3.6 EO J stepping. You should get to 4.3 on air or more.Originally Posted by NoX
I would say anything after 4.3 gighertz will blow the northwood out of the water.
Unless you are running an 3.4 Extreme edition , vapocooled at 4.5 gighertz you will then fly.
However i wouldnt spend my money on a cpu thats more then 400 now. I learned the hardway when i found out the fx55 aint all that for the money.
I am running a 3.2e at 4.4 gighertz and i cant tell the difference. Windows does move better but the fx55 was slighty faster in games due to the on die memory controler , but to me spending 800 bucks on a cpu is not worth the money. Alot of the Amd mobos suck anyway compared to intels quality and performance . I had nothing but problems with my MSI neo 2 plat, Temp problems , stuttering, lock outs.
I dont know but im not switching over to AMD just yet. My 478 board is still moving with my new SL7E5 DO stepping at 4.4 gighertz . This will hold me off until intel releases some 2mb prescotts or duel core.
I spend alot of time in windows and internet surfing you can definitly tell a difference that intel is better. The Fx55 is better in games but to tell you the truth its not much faster then what my intel does at 3d games at 1280*1024 res. Anything lower the AMD wins, but i dont play games at res lower then then whats listed above. To me if you want a overall kick ass computer that does outstanding performance in both windows and games get the prescott.
Make sure you can do over 4.3 gighertz or anything lower might be not worth getting. So if you cant overclock past 4.3 gighertz get the AMD winchester 3500+ , i heard those do pretty well when overclocked.
Get into a 3.8E and a fatality board with DDR 2 and vapocool it to a gurannteed 5 gighertz stable , now thats fast.
The AMD FX is only good for 3.2-3.3 gighertz on extreme cooling and when i was at 3.2 on my FX55 i was getting 82k in aquamark 3d , now im getting 80k in aqaumark 3d on my p4 at 4.4 gighertz.
Not much difference at all . considering this also that i only paid 200 for the processor 3.2E and sold my p4C which the difference was only like 70 dollars to upgrade to what i have now. The Fx55 retail for 800+ dollars and just aint worth it , unless you like blowing money. If i were you get the vapochill LS, anyway the FX55 Super PI times were better and so were the sandra ram/MIP score but not by much. The Fx55 at 3.2-3.3 is probbly equal to a p4 running at 4.7-4.8 gighertz in my book
These are just my oppions on the research and experience with my vapochill LS.
