Mine unlocked too, but the system hangs when I stress core4, also very high temperatures in idle even with stock voltages (45-50C with 3cores its 30-35).

Well the 4th core of the tricore CPUs was locked by AMD for a reason, usually because it is a bum core or super hot or both so for some people unlocking will do no good, for others it will. Depends on the exact chip.

with acc@-6 I can do a 1M pi run before the lockup occurs, so maybe there's hope with a pair of high cfm fans

btw my cpu is a terrible overclocker, I only managed to pull 3400 out of it @ ~1.5v...

i think that amd batted with good chips on black edition, since they didnt have enough chips that were defective to fill the anticipated demand on the 720 so they had them in the 710 and other OEM grade chips and now they sell almost only black editions from what it looks like so they moved the defects up in the line.

i still like the platform but im a little disappointed, but it looks like with better cooling i can get 4ghz stable on a $120 cpu (im on stock cooling, and its bad)

Same BIOS, same issue. I think we both should try out 1.4b4 which is proven to unlock before we throw in the towel

Sadly I just moved to a new appartment so sitting on my little lappy, won't be able to play until this weekend/next week

I've tried some 1.4 betas but unfortunately they are not really perfect. I have a pretested X2 550 which is 100% stable with 4 cores and 3.5GHz@1.35V in ASUS M3A79-T Dlx and AsRock 780G. I've set the ACC to Special and AUTO in MSI (GD70) but the prime small FFT test always failed (frozen after ~1 minutes)...even on 2600MHz.

So come on MSI and let's make some developement on this function!!

I am sorry but I have to say: GREAT this shows my chip still has unlocking potentials

If your chip can unlock on other mobos but not MSIs then there's still hope for me ^^

I realised that GD70 might be a good board to unlock cores... but good to overclock.

I've tried my X2 550BE (0922APMW) & X3 720BE (0904EPMW) both good batches, on other mobos and they are able to perform stably wif all 4 cores.
But wif GD70, those chip can't even perform stably after a massive clock down in speed.

MSI's current implementation is a little unstable. 1.4b3 is the best bios for unlocking for me compared to 1.4b4 which breaks the unlocking on my X3 720BE.

1.4b5 is out now but I havent tried it.

I agree with the beta's being unstable at unlocking but they are betas. Hopefully everything is sorted out and we get a good final release.
