Sweet! Maybe your pics will finally push me over the edge to try it as I've loved orac3 since it was debuted way back when. . .

Ok I have everything I need ...now what.

I have my black and red sleeving (with matching shrink)from kirk at murdermod I have an extra 24 pin atx modular cable courtesy of ultra power supply's I have psu modding toolkit from sunbeamtech also I proper crimping tool if needed. My question now is about keeping the proper order of the wire to the connectors.

I am going to be shortening the cable to fit my setup and it will require me to remove a good 6 inch chunk of length out of the cable . What's the best way to keep the cables in the proper order while doing them all at the same time? I f i do it one wire at a time it will not come out even. Any ideas on how I can make it a perfect job and wire it back together properly?

Thought I might add in a little tutorial on how to do the 6-8pin plugs which come with some power supplies like the Corsair.

These are the tools that you'll need, as well as a ruler, and a heat gun and of course the sleeving (Thanks to Nils at MDPC for this sleeving, beautiful stuff that it is!).

Make a slit all along one side of the heatshrink which is covering the ring on the cables. Then blast the you know what out of it with the heat gun. And it'll end up like this:

It will look like this after you tear all the heatshrink off it. Covered in disgusting gluey stuff, but it's ok, you can scrape it all off easily enough.

Because I didn't need the +2 part of the 6 to 8 pin cable, I just removed it.

Then I basically removed one wire at a time, which took it out from the little ring. This is probably the easiest way, saves you having to cut that ring (god knows what it is made out of, I tried to go at it with the dremel but it took too long)!

And you end up with this, all finished and pretty

Train the cables after to make gentle bends, as they sometimes get kinks in them from being all tied up in the box.

    Hope that was helpful!

It's genuine MurderMod sleeving, it turned out to be cheaper then the one at Elfa when you include shipping.
    also MM's is 3 threaded, I think Elfa's is 2 threaded, don't know though.

I wasn't quite finished with the PSU when the pics were taken.

    dreamaxx;
Nice guide, quite some nerves you have voiding the warranty.
Is it possible to get some 8pin blocks for the PSU and 6pin blocks for the GPU and make a custom cable, and still have the possibility to do a RMA?

Thats an AMAZING idea. Mind if I copy?

    EDIT:

Also, has anyone had any experience with PRO POWER sleeving?

^-Would either of those be any good for individual wires and fan cables? I'm thinking I'd see less through the 2-7mm that the 1-6mm, because it's be more 'bunched up' @ about 2mm, right?

I can not get 1/8" tubeshrink to go over 1/8" sleeving to save my life. What am i doing wrong? I tried heating the ends of the sleeve so stray fibers aren't hanging everywhere, but then it's impossible to get back over the cable without straying the threads again.

I usually ended up lightly melting the ends so that they started to group together, then carefully slid the heatshrink over one end, then the other, took some patience, but

I bought some of this http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/search/pr...p?SKU=CBBR6179 I haven't got any murdermod to compare it with but that may change shortly. We use it at work but cpc are one of our preferred suppliers I can send a small piece to anyone who wants to do a side by side. The worst one I've had was the Ryan kits. What's the difference between Polyester/Terephthalate and plain polyester?

No worries m8 It does come creased flat on a roll in a cardboard box. it feels fairly rigid. pics in a few days. Can anyone comment on what the techflex stuff like? It comes in a plethora of colours which is great.

techflex is cheap, plasticy feeling and shows wires. . . . .

if you go down the techflex road, the 'Clean Cut' variant is the best (and closet to MM stuff imho)

This is Techflex from PPC's that I bought, used for 2 cables, decided it was crap, and now on the search for an alternative since MDPC is out of stock for what seems like forever

Having your cables showing isnt a big thing if your using an Ultra X3 lined PSU. The cables are black so its perfect for the PPCs Techflex PET sleeving. I am using it now but the 1/8" Heatshrink for 1/8" sleeving is a pain, Decided to go the next size up for heatshrink.
