Already in Online deals ....
actually a better deal with a mobo ...
Quads to the people! It should still drop in price tho when competition picks up.
Crunching for Comrades and the Common good of the People.
That is what I call good news
Well that is great for $299 and sure this is similar to what the price drop will be next month. The good point is quad cores are becoming useful each passed day so hopefully let's say in 2 or 3 years will be fully qualified to undertake any harsh threads. I'm still waiting the price drop in UK. Why Americans always get something first? GRRRRR
Looking forward to seeing it in my hands.
I wonder if it´s a new stepping with decreased TDP or old B-3. According to news, Q6600 G-0 stepping should be available in mid-July, so who knows.
EDIT: sladesurfer reads my mind

If someone wants the G0 stepping and doesn't get it, I'll provide you my address to ship the undesired chip to.

I already picked mine up at Fry's. Here's my thinking:
July 22nd, the price per 1000 will drop to $266. That usually means OEM. Now, I'm in Jersey, so NewEgg charges tax- 7% on top is $285. Add, let's be really optimistic with $5 for shipping, and bring it up to $290. This way I'm getting retail (with warranty and spare heatsink), and saving myself three weeks, for an extra $10. I think that's well worth it.
And I really doubt it'll be G-0 stepping.
