You see, we do artificially increas highside on our systems as we have set temp we want to approach for set heatload and there is only one way to get there with set gas is...... set suction pressure... We do use abnormally restrictive metering devices vs what other refrigeration fields do use really in general. Now, this guy seem to not retrict himself by gases (I mean, if you want -120c, should be not that low of suction as in r14 lol). Anyways... such a cool stuff developing here for sure.

Amazing! We need to learn more about autocascades! Give us Cryo-tek some simple designs.

    Off topic:
I am looking just for fun to make an autocascade.
I have rotary 1hp here and r507,r503,r508,r404,r410 gases.

I think it's time that cryo-tek gets his -100C Club title . Maybe if I insulate that head, he'll be one of the first -150C Club Members around .

With some poking and some effort I figure he could easily hit -200C. He knows his stufe, he enjoys messing around, he's not scared to take acceptible risks.

(So it seems like to me any way)

Nope, he's told me that the coldest he's ever been able to bring an autocascade down to is ~-170C (although maybe he wasn't "trying" for low temps). That temperature was done with a bit of NITROGEN in the loop

Probably another stage with different gas for that temp lol. Freezing point of nitrogen isn't that far off I think.

I know all of you may be excited about the prospect of autocascades and uses for our needs, but let me say this:

Please, let the guy have some breathing room. His PM box is probably already reaching its limit and we don't want to overwhelm him. Scaring him away is the LAST thing we would want to do. Our community needs someone like him to take us to another level, but it would be a sad thing if he decided that this was all too much to deal with. Remember - he has a job he needs to attend to and this is just something "fun" for him....we don't want him to think of this as more "work" when he gets home.

I'm not trying to pick on you NOL whatsoever - it's just a general statement targeted @ everyone here who may be interested....

Steve, congrats on your new toy

As an enthusiast, it's really good to see people cheering for new successess.

Cyro, please post more in the vapo section, especially on educational subjects. I started reading the ac certification manual to better understand whats going on in a refrigerator, hehe - but it's always better to hear from experienced users - congrats again

    o_O......Wow now that is amazing!
Did anyone ever come up with a drawing for one of these Polycold systems?
Sure would be nice to see a detailed drawing, it looks like argon has a lot of potential in a ss or autocascade and I wonder what percentage is argon....prob less than 15%.

I just found out that my omega indicator displays EEE if you go below -150c.

I now have tweaked to -155c but the batteries in my camera are dead.

    Pressures are 21 / 180.

Pictures are at -150c and EEE

Sorry ! I got carried away. I wanted people to see what a 3 stage cascade can do. I will return it to the -140 range when I’m finished. I’m going back to tweak more. I think it may be time for nitrogen.
