    Hi peeps,

I got 2xGigabyte 660tis 3GB running in SLI in my rig.

I want to oc them. Managed to get stable +485 mhz on ram during crysis 3 2560*1440 resolution all maxed out (cards are constantly above 90% usage). However, even 10 mhz oc on the cores make Crysis 3 crash after a while giving some sort of DXDIAG error. Is it Crysis 3 that is not optimized or are the cards that can handle the OC? I maxed out the voltage setting that msi afterburner allows already. Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks in advance.

Set you mem to stock, then max out the core first. After you maxed out the core and its stable, try maxing out the mem.

Alot of people jump right to maxing out the mem, and that is the wrong way to start as it will usually keep your core from overclocking.

Also I have had better luck with EVGA precision. Don try to change any voltage just run the power level to the max. See what you can get the cards stable to.
If you need/want more then the next step is bios mods to unlock/up the voltage, and power.

    Hey guys,

I'm owning a Asus GTX 660 TI Standard edition. I've downloaded a custom bios, which i found in one of these posts.
Now i have my card fully overclocked, max stable i can get right now.

Is this an average overlock, And are there any ways to max it out even more?

When max boost, it reaches 1280mhz on the clock.
15 minutes stress testing on furmark gives a max temp of 72 C

There is no point in overclocking the core clocks with out-of-box overclocked Kepler GPUs, in fact it's silly to do so.

The vast majority of out-of-the-box already OCed 660TI or whatever other Kepler cards will barely do 40-50mhz, and some cards can even become non-stable by only adding 40mhz on the core. Again: Overclocking GK104 core clocks is an idiotic thing to do.

It is ALSO idiotic since seeing how GPU Boost works, those cards usually have plenty of headroom without the need to add additional clocks with tools like Afterburner. Example: My Gigabyte 660 TI OC has a maximum theoretical "Table Boost Clock" in the stock bios which is at 1320Mhz.

By unlocking the bios, means changing the default voltage from 1150mV to the max. 1212.5 mV (say in Kepler Bios Tweaker etc.), the card will jump to the maximum value that is in the BIOS boost table.

The problem is that no one will guarantee you that the value it will try to boost with the unlocked voltages is actually stable.

Rest assured, 1320 (such as is the case for my card) is NOT stable since barely any Kepler card can do 1320 mhzs stable.

Worst case scenario: You request some "modded BIOS" from someone who has voltages unlocked and have no idea what the max table boost actually is, let alone whether it's stable at that clock.

It's funny to read so many "drivers fried my card" threads lately and then seeing that many people don't have a clue about overclocking Kepler or do silly things like trying to get 80-100 mhz on the core with AB or using a modded BIOS without having done proper testing or even being aware what the consequences are. Alone an unlocked BIOS where only the voltages are "unlocked" could already yield a very unstable card, so could adding +50 on the core with tools like AB. (There is even reports by people who only added +10 on core and it's already unstable).

Tip: If you have a factory OCed card, do NOT overclock your core with AB (see above, its entirely pointless)...usually, 1230-1280 is is what those cards do and above gets already very unrealistic. Also, do NOT use a modded BIOS if you have no ideas what is modded, what clocks it boosts and most importantly whether its actually stable at those clocks. You would be a total fool to use someone's modded BIOS and just use it on your card because then you might be very surprised why your card is all of a sudden artifacting and becomes unstable.

Alright guys, I decided to flash a bios that allows me higher voltage and higher clocks for gpu/ram on my 660tis.
I am a noob though and I am afraid I will mess it up. Can anyone give me a hand so I make a good bios specifically for little Gigabyte 660ti 3gb beasties?

Hey CrazyNuts, saw your link in the EVGA forums saying you can unlock Bios.
You just do this out of the kindness of your crazy nuts? Should mention I don't really know what I'm doing so you might have to babystep me a bit.
