Just a friendly service alert.
Anyone have some spare cores to put up?
Yeah... Let me get sammy online this week. It isn't a whole lot but it will help a little bit.

Where the heck did Sony come from? I have another couple rigs I've been meaning to put up but how does our average compare to Sony's average?

Sony must be trying to compete with IBM...

I've seen this on new Sonys before. If you blindly click through the setup thing when you get the PC it installs the WCG version of BOINC and adds the machine to, you guessed it Sony VAIO Team. It does say some of the things we've been giving people as reasons for why we do this, so I have to think that some of them are reading it.
I'll take the blame for this. When I saw it on there, I didn't join the lappy to my account and left the client installed
I'm almost always available on Steam to chat. Same username.
Perhaps Sony funds WCG a bit. In the end it all goes to the greater good. Team status doesn't hurt though...

Depending on what their default settings would be, wouldn't it a bit iffy (for lack of a better word) to run WCG on laptops?
Reduced battery time, hotter running, stressing components harder and possibly other things laptops are not to fond off.
Without doing to much my crappy laptop already runs it processors up to 60+ C in idle and HD happily goes to 60-65 C on hot days.
If I would run WCG on it, I would be quite confident it wouldn't last to long.
Main Rig:
- i7 2600k + Noctua NH-C14 - GTX 570
- 16 GB RAM - Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3
- 1x 256GB Corsair Performance Pro SSD
- 1x 256GB Samsung 830 SSD
One would hope those pre-configured Sonys would either have very restricted default crunching settings or much better quality construction than most notebooks. I'm all for people running it, but sneaking it on to systems isn't the right thing to do.

I bet Sony doesn't run it when the laptops are on battery, only plugged in. I'm pretty sure there is a setting for that.

Dang... 4th stings.. Pretty awesome to see what IBM has Dumped into the grid over the last year... but we can get and say above Sony guys! I should be adding some HP Dualies this week for some WCG stress testing... might add 150k for a few weeks..

IMHO Waste is a computer going to a landfill having done actual computations less than 90% of it's life. 90% of the computers powered on right now are idle or powered off; what a waste! [/B]
Is it a coincidence that your wifes pc is called Uranus?
