The Bulldozer Aftermath: Delving Even Deeper

"It has been months since AMD's Bulldozer architecture surprised the hardware enthusiast community with performance all over the place. The opinions vary wildly from “server benchmarks are here, and they're a catastrophe” to “Best Server Processor of 2011”. The least you can say is that the idiosyncrasies of AMD's latest CPU architecture have stirred up a lot of dust."

Love it when Anandtech make articles like this.

I'd really love a Kepler one.

EDIT: Oh woops, it may sound similar, but it's different compared to the success stories articles.

After Bulldozer, Piledriver can only be a significant step up.

New FX will have drastic reduction in power consumption and possible increase in core count but i dont understand why they want to stick with AM3+ if a new socket is used changes are better performance and power distribution can be had. AM3+ is pretty primitive compared to the likes of LGA 1155 then again this might be my POV...

Piledriver is not supposed to bring increased core count, only power reduction and frequency increase. Steamroller (after piledriver) is basically a Piledriver core with higher core count.
