Not really, but I might do it anyway. RAM is a kicker though. I don't mind taking down a Sammy for RAM, but with the board details so variable ...

I mean the seller has it down as the -E version so I don't see why these CPUs won't work.
I just got a confirmation email that my first order of four CPUs shipped today.

No I didn;t send him an email, I was just saying that is what he has them listed as on the ebay ad.

Oh well, don't hold anything for me. Just had to buy text books for the semester so I'm now tapped out. Good luck everyone who still has two pennies to rub together. I'll graduate one day.

No. The S2912WG2NR-E has Istanbul support as does the S2912G2NR-E. The difference between the S2912WG2NR and the S2912G2NR is that the former has SAS and a bunch of other additional features. CPU support is the same.
    These ones are compatible: http://www.tyan.com/product_SKU_spec...&SKU=600000048
    These ones are NOT: http://www.tyan.com/product_board_detail.aspx?pid=157

Here's the S2912G2NR-E product page. It lists Istanbul support the same as the S2912WG2NR-E http://www.tyan.com/product_SKU_spec...&SKU=600000049

Oh a REAL bit "WURD!" on that! I had high hopes myself, perhaps a little TOO high, actually. 60W Hexa-cores for a buck a pop, compatible mobos for sixty and also compatible with the RAM many of us have in our Sammys ... what's not to love!?! Real shame it's not panning out. Maybe next time, hey.

I messaged the seller to confirm they are -E versions. I also asked him to send me one board so I can check compatibility, I hope he agrees but I'm not holding my breath.
