Check first post, dejanh, EN Nickel will also be available. In fact all four version instead of previously planned EN Nickel only.

I think there will be a copper edition made.

It really is crying out for a heatpipe between the blocks.

If you decide to watercool the RAM as well, tube routing could be a nightmare unless of course using the new swiftech rad

Amen bruv! And I agree on the comment about a heat pipe... I doubt I'll cool the RAM but maybe...

I'm waiting to see what Koolance have designed.

I'd like copper looks more too .. if there were no need to clean/polish copper after some time to keep those looks. Me being lazy nickel looks better in my eyes on that account.

Indeed he did. Any how, blocks... What I did wonder is why there's no block for the other cooler on the board?

I got my board last night and looking at it, those blocks on cover the top and bottom coolers... what about the cooler on the left hand side next to the device ports?

that part of stock cooler didn't contact with any components (just as the part between cpu and pci-e slots)

No no, not that bit. The bit on the left.

There's a cooler above the CPU (which there's a block) and a cooler on the southbridge with a fake bit underneath the CPU (which there's a block). But there's also another cooler to the left of the CPU? I've not had a full look at it but I thought it was making contact with something???

    EDIT - Pictures explain better...

Bex i think u missed out the other thread Mr Koolance had explained it:

We've had some questions on the other stock heat sink near the I/O ports, but that area doesn't make contact with any components. It's strictly for the heat pipe, so there's no 3rd block necessary. Materials are copper, brass, acetal, & nickel plating. Finishing on the top nozzle area is a little swirly IMO, but it will be better in the next batch.

Please note this water block (EK-FB KIT RE4) cools exactly as much heat generating components as ASUS factory cooling solution. Stock cooler doesn't have contact with nothing below the CPU socket and left of the RAM slots.

    P.S.: Up for pre-order!

I've liquid cooled a raid card before, so have several people. That actually serves a purpose. A raid card does get hot, it's not like memory or say the intel SBs from prior chipsets that never got all that hot. Plus when you are stacking up all your PCIE slots it can get starved for air. Memory on the other hand.....

do you know how rediculously hot the Intel IOP 348 gets on a ARC-1680ix??

GOOD LORD!! u think the 480GTX's are furnaces??

Nice blocks eddy, i love how you guys did that top one with style...
I hate the board layout... it messes everything up, and its some sick person at intel wanting to change the style of the boards so it looks NOTHING like AMD. :\

Who really needs 8 ram slots??? 4 slots is fine with 4 gigs of ram each.. thats 16GBs itself of ram on a gaming PC.... NOT A SERVER PLATFORM mind you....

It's not the number of DIMMs, it's memory controller and CPU packaging which is to blame. In order to keep the trace lenght to a minimum they needed to place half of the IMC pins to the pinout on the left and the other half inverted to the pins on the right. This is logicaly the best solution which allows all DIMMs to have more or less equally long traces. It's all about the latency and signal loss.

Hi, I am new to this forum.

Here is my build in progress.

Why buy 8 ram slots if not to install 64gb ram?

Not impressed...but not surprising since nothing about X79 so far really impresses me. Any plans for a block for the X79-UD7?

I posted my complaints about the new EK design on their new HD7970 block thread but it seems they're going with stripes all the way with all their new designs. This will get boring very fast.

No stripes, clean as hell. But then I don't like the overload of nickel or whatever it is at the top of the block.
