ok yeah hopefully a msi afterburner beta 5 maybe will take care of this...or ill have to use RBE bios editor
edit: when enablingunofficialOC in the .cfg file ("1") this makes it run at constant OC
so i switched back to "0"....i just cant go past CCC limits, which is fine for now...while i work on the RBE editor

Try Sapphire's TriXX instead if Afterburner is keeping your cards upclocked.
The clocks reduce fine on the OCed 6850 in my Ph II 940 computer. Haven't tried it with a 6870 though.

Can anyone benchmark FFXIV high setting on your 6870? Preferably once at your highest aircooled overclock and once at 1000/1150. Use the first character.
I am deciding to either get a 6870 or the older 5850. Yes I know the 6870 is a way faster card and newer tech but i am being offered a 5850 at a really good price. If the 6870 is not too much faster I might a 5850 instead and save some money.
Thanks in advance.

You may find the below useful. At about 880 on the core a 5850 should be around stock 5870 performance in that bench.

If you're interested in other titles, try that.

Again, a 5850 with proper voltage should not have a problem matching or passing a stock HD 5870.

Hey guys I'm trying to O/C my Sapphire 6870 with the triXX tool. I can't seem to get past 950/1100 (stock volts) and also I'm getting weird jitter in my mouse when I mouse over in the notification area.
Win7 x64
i7 930@3.6Ghz
h50
TriXX ver. 0.4.21
Nothing too serious...
Any ideas?
Anyone noticed that once you get past 950 core on these 6870 chip minimum and max frame rates in most games see very little improvement. It seems very much like the 5870s. They almost seem tapped out. I returned mine after noticing this and went back to a gtx 480. The 6870 isn't a bad card , in fact it's very good but I think it's a bit over price it should be 200.00. The used gtx 480 and 5850's are the best bang for the money out. Just my two cents.

My FPS seem to scale decently, only have a 6850, but up to 1080Mhz on core, and min FPS keep increasing. Many other factors can keep min FPS down.
