LOTES socket on Gigabyte P55A, only the bracket.

    http://bbs.chiphell.com/viewthread.php?tid=60436

Someone bought a Gigabyte P55A-UD5 and found out the "LOTES socket" is actually bracket.

Gigabyte don't use LOTES socket on P55A baords as they claimed,
or they use only the lotes bracket not the whole socket.

It's said in serveral review that Gigabyte will use LOTES socket instead of FOXCONN.
    http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/sto...-performance/2
    http://www.tweaktown.com/news/13357/...wer/index.html
    http://www.inpai.com.cn/doc/hard/109409_2.htm

But the truth is, they're still us FOXCONN socket, they only change the bracket to LOTES.
I just wonder if Gigabyte do this to make us believe they're using LOTES socket.
What if under the LOTES bracket, there is a cheap socket other than FOXCONN?
Would we know? Should we use it?

Meh, disappointing... It was just a rumour, though.
    Did Foxconn sockets improve any?

Interesting but remember that is just one board/sample. Might need to open up a few more boxes to confirm if it's the case heh.

Foxconn did improve the plastic composition according Hicookie... only time will tell... and not to burst ya bubble SXS112 but Asus boards have also been spotted with burned sockets... so there's more to it then just barely the Foxconn socket...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

OOO I just bought a P55A-UD4P on the basis of the LOTES socket. The bracket is def LOTES, but I'll check when i get home on the manu of the actual socket. I'll be pissed if its a foxconn.

Well Hicookie told us this at the Gigabyte TweaKing event (mix of components), I think you should blame the review sites for not looking any further :p

Is eVGA foxconn-proof,or it too requires contacting retailer prior to ordering?
Although,I think this socket burn is overexaggerated, but better being on the safe side...

What I see in the photos above are two different motherboards, not pics of just one.

Take a look at the third and fourth pics above......the silkscreening is different...I've put them below with the silkscreened differences circled....

Now, if they're the same board, why was the SATA emblem left off the one with the LOTES cover showing and the "PCH_HS" shortened from the "PCH_Heatsin" silkscreen on the board with the cover lifted up?

Of course, this doesn't even touch the completely different set/rows of capacitors or the different RAM slots (One board has showing one blue then one white while the other board has two blue then one white slot...........)

    Oh that's nice

Hopefully they're using the new revision of the Foxconn socket, which seems to be ok ( no damaged Asus Maximus III Formulas yet )

    Ask me

Its correct; LOTES bracket, FOXCONN plastic/pins... Well I do in fact believe Gigabyte has done some research and it isnt just guessing...
But let the first P55A with burned socket prove me wrong....

I still think it was related to uneven pressure by bracket..

    EDIT:
I dont think Gigabyte stated it was LOTES only, I think closest they have stated is "due the issues with the current foxconn sockets, we have changed it", and they have, not fully away from foxconn, but changed it.
