Lol, CatalystMaker on Twitter tells us they're released and on game.amd.com, and TPU and G3D have mirrors, but nothing on the official AMD site

I just installed them but will go straight back to 9.6.

I always used to be able to throttle the fan down using the manual fan control, but now I can only raise the fan speed? What the hell....

Just installed. Initial reaction? Not happy - refresh rate stuck at 59Hz, GPU scaling greyed out, new layout is trying to be simplistic but is harder and more time-consuming to navigate.

I'll keep them installed for a few days to see if gaming performance makes up for it.

Strange, manual fan control works exactly as in 9.6 for me. Can change speed just fine

Sure strange, the fan control works OK here.

Also no problem with the refresh rate.

No problem with the scaling options.

Hope I'm not going too far OT here but the slider for the fan speed used to go from 0% to 100%. It's probably because its not a reference card, but even though its anoying to have feature that I liked and used taken away.

I'm not sure but I think the slider was always from 20 to 100% and it's still the same here.
Maybe you're right about the the non reference card. It might be the non reference cards bios that sets the minimum speed.

But does it "stick" at 60Hz? 60 shows up as a selectable option for me, but when I select it and hit Apply, it instantly drops back to 59Hz. 9.6 and earlier had no such problem.

I'm not really sure why they're changing the gui again, instead of spending time on useful things like per application profiles. ATI cards are nice, but the software sure does suck ass.

I never had to set it but it stay there. The 60Hz also shows in Windows Display Settings.

So, if everyone hates the new GUI so bad, why change to it? Just install the new display drivers and keep the "old" CCC....it does work, btw. Just upgraded the drivers to 9.7 and left the "old" GUI in place and it works just like it did before with 9.6, no complications, no problems.

Hrmpf, the new 9.7 driver doesn't even let me set the clockspeed neither up nor down. I rolled back to 9.6 now.

I got the Gainward HD4850 Golden Sample btw, somehow the new driver seems rather incompatible with that non-reference design...

This is a great workaround. Just be aware that if there's new functions/settings introduced into the driver in the future, you won't be able to control them with an "older" CCC.

I'm not touching the new CCC with a 10' pole for at least 3 months, probably 6. I really don't understand why they're ing around with the GUI when they can very easily apply the same man hours to fixing incompatibilities with games or by adding features that people actually want.

I don't know why every time when CCC has newer version the lower benchmark score I will get (with same setting)... Does anyone has the same issue? Or I am doing something wrong.

LOL 50% fan speed. I think my ears would die. Then again I do have a reference card so I should be good to go.

Will dl and install this tonight.

I've had problems getting them to work with two monitors, I can't make my TV primary so I have to disable the monitor and with the TV enabled I can't set the monitor to 1600x1200 (best resolution for it) so to switch between I have to disable or unplug which is less than perfect. I blame DRM and the HDMI spec not ATi though.

It also messed up my OC, Riva tuner kept the OC on one GPU but not the other causing games to crash (L4D after 5 minutes) until I figured it out.

Overscan on HDMI is still a problem in Crysis and RE5 Bench (Full Screen DX10 apps over HDMI at 1920x1080 set the screen at -15% despite having the slider at 0%, DX9 apps work fine), the default should be 0% instead of -15% to get around this.
