Thank you buddies, looks like this XP1700+ is indeed a true candidate for liquid nitrogen, what do you think? I think 3.4GHz shouldn't be too far away

stabilize the issue with FSB first - maybe you'll do 3.5 then

I remember when I had fun with my K7 2800+ Barton... It was primestable @ 2.8ghz on waterchill with only 1.95v. I sold it more expensive than it cost at this moment.

I have a NF7-S with dead bios, and a Mobile 2600+ that reach 2.7Ghz on air.

I will ask a friend that has a DFI K7 board, to make a hot-swap and flash my bios again.

    RGDS!
Sorry for my English. I am Spanish

Ouch, big chip on that duron. I've got 4 or 5 in a drawer just waiting for a slow week haha

I had Durons with more severe chips and perfectly working! One was particularly intriguing, because it was booting Win and most of the software, but running heavy SSE or 3DNow apps and comp. was blue-screening!
Confirmed it was CPU, because other chips were fine in the same system. In the end that chip had to serve me as a key-chain!

The Duron is now thorough-benchmarked I think

You mentioned earlier using LN2 for the stuff - seems like you will need a lot of it, you have so many interesting CPUs.

@phobosq: Yes, LN2 is indeed tempting, I (read: me & my buddy Moonman) just have a hard time obtaining it and I'm certainly not ready to pay for it. The chips that will certainly see LN2 are: XP1700+ & this XP-M 2500+ (see below).

@ruggero: CPU evaporator is around -90°C when benching under full load (i used short cap tube). My evap has very thin walls and the probe is located on the wall itself, therefor my evap temperature pretty much resembles CPU die temperature. BIOS reports 236°C every time which corresponds to 255-236 = -19°C (255°C = 0°C) The probe must be stuck though, as I've seen -19°C reporting when I benched with single-stage. You can see the evaporator here:

I got a chance to play with some Athlon XP-M 2500+ (Barton):

    System:
    AMD AthlonXP Mobile 2500+ (Barton)
    ABIT NF7-S rev2.0 - Vdimm, Vdd mods
    2x256MB BH-5 DDR
    OCZ DDR Booster
    Seventeam V-Force 750W
    Maxtor Diamondmax 9+ 40GB IDE

    Results:
    - #1 CPUZ @ 3260.79MHz, 2.16Vcore
    - #3 SuperPI 1M: 33.656s @ 3094MHz, 2.0Vcore
    - #1 SuperPI 32M: 29m 37.875s @ 3057MHz, 2.0Vcore
    - #3 Hexus PiFast: 47.67s @ 3032MHz, 2.0Vcore
    - #2 Wprime 32: 53.938s @ 3119MHz, 2.0Vcore
    - #1 Wprime 1024: 29m 0.953s @ 3094MHz, 2.0Vcore

The Pi32M is the new WR for the K7 architecture (previous was 29m 51s held by Turrican's XP-M 2600+)!

Thank's for the info...imho is not a good score the cpu-z.

    I have a xp-m 2600 with shoot a 3107mhz on air and 34s superpi...Why not 2,2v?

This is my actual XP-M Retrosystem. Its not finally configurated.
i cool the CPU with a selfmade Socket-Kit and a Thermalright XP-90C. Northbridgecooler is the Thermalright NB-1C.

Maximum stable FSB was 245 MHz. No Mods at the Board, but will come next time.

    Sorry for my english!

    EDIT: CPU is a Athlon XP-M 2600+ "IQYHA 0401XPMW"

    i love this stuff!!
i am pretty much into this to (have bought a abit NF7-S v2 and have like 6 socket a cpu's lying around bu now (pikking them up for dirt cheap)
till now have only been playing around whit them a bit (never exeeded more than 0,2V over rated) after my vacation upcomming week i am gonna puch them till they break (just push volts through them till they die)
i only have the possebility of air, but i will be posting some results when i get some (maybe save the nice cpu's and try to get them to someone who has LN2 (and LN2 experience)
    keep this thread alive!

    Thanks fellas!

I took another K7 chip on the run - the crappy XP1800+ Palomino - chip is lazy, but hot as hell Perhaps I will unlock it, that would be the only option to improve results with this lazy sucka!

    System:
    AMD AthlonXP 1800+ (Palomino)

True. I played with it few years ago, anti-overlock chip as hell . You did good job anyway 2.2GHz is quite nice.
