Cool [BenchBros] Little Evening Benching without LN2 *EDIT* EVGA X58 Scores added

    Hello guys,

after the Tom's Hardware Event in Paris I can not stands still and I try to push our 965XE to the Max.

    The RIG:

Intel Core i7-965 Extreme Edition (3835A538)
    Intel DX58SO "Smackover" (BIOS 2786)
MSI Eclipse SLI X58 (BIOS 0.0B1)
    3072MB Kingston HyperX PC16000 CL9 (Samsung HFC0 Chips)
    MSI GeForce GTX280
    2x Sapphire HD4870X2
    Corsair HX1000W
Dual-Stage Hardwareluxx Kaskade build by Iceman

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
After some hours of Benching I can reach some realy nice results!
All done on Intels DX58SO Board, MSI Eclipse SLI has some hard BIOS bugs so I can not handle it right... can not reach the results like on the Intel board.

I think Eclipse is such a nice board with a great layout but if you want to run
06, Vantage or WPrime you can not do this with this Board because the Multiplier and the Voltage droops down in Idle because EIST must be activated for changing the TDP and TDC limits.

On the Intel Board I can change the CPU idle status to "High Performance" so the Multi and the V dosn't droops down in Idle.

The Second big problem is there Is no Laod Line Calibration in the BIOS and It droops nearly 0,05V on load with all 4 Cores.

    Results:

WPrime 1024M done in 161,485 seconds

Temperatures are Idle arround -80° and loaded arround -75°

WPrime 32M done in 5,125 seconds

SuperPi 32M done in 7 min and 21,078 seconds

the Memory can not run CL7-8-7 on 2.0 V are not the best HFC0 Chips

I have done also some 3DMark06 Tests,
but I think the CPU-Score is a little to low don't understand why

    Singlecard 3DMark06 29061 Marks

    CrossfireX 3DMark06 31989 Marks

both cards do not runs so fine thrid pair of cards I have testet but no card can goes over 850 MHz on core and 960 MHz on Memory

If all the 4 Cores are heavy loaded I have some Temperature Problems on our Cascade, so I am not able to run wprime1024M twice because the temperature of the first stage droops so heavy that my second stage turns off

Here are some Pics from my Benching:

next time me and my mates Andi and Manu will test Tripple-SLI with our new
Besi GPU Pots. Have ordered a EVGA X58 Board

    stay tuned mates!

Here are some results with EVGA X58 Board BIOS X58B7 (thanks Peter)

    bad performance!

Not tryed to run this card with 4940 ...

max what I can get out of the Board with SMT

You have to really get your dual stager tuned for more now, mate.

Nice results, bro. Seems your chip is good, but not great. Those volts needed for 4.8GHz are a bit too high -> that XE puts out a lotta heat because of that (and because of its nature *g* ).

Eagerly awaiting triple sli results on LN2.

yeah I know, I will test some tips wich a friend gaves to me in the holidays.

Yes I think it is one of the better chips but definetliy not one of the best.
I hope this Babys got not a so high Coldbug, so I hope we can run a little bit higher with serious cooling on the CPU

CPU VID is only 1,125 V so he dosn't will be cool

on the other side I need other memory to get realy good 32m Scores!
Hope the Corsair 1866C8 arrives me soon!

God i hope that's R-23 cascade and not R-1150 cascade, because if it is you're pushing those compressors to the limit

    please be paitent my friend

last two days I test the EVGA X58 Board
could be a very nice Overclocker Board but it haves some great BIOS issues...

I updated Post #1 with some better scores...

    a little comparison:

32M max Clock on Intel DX58SO:

    5000 MHz

32M max Clock on EVGA X58:

    5120 MHz

but the performance is not so nice as on the Intel Board... I can only reachs 7min 20s on this Clock, with 930 7-8-7 1T on the Mem.

But for 3D the EVGA Board is great!!!

I can run 3DMark06 up to 4940 MHz (max on Intel was 4870 MHz)

    stay tuned

I think something like this (but this CPU is death )

    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=7914437

but I think anywhere I see a QX9770 what runs 5850 MHz in 06 but CPU was not so high.

Peter gives me X58B7 (SZ1B) this BIOS is better than the 1A but I have also some strange problems, biggest thing I think is the Memory OC...

The Sticks from Paris runs easy up to 1000 MHz on 7-8-7 @ 2 V and 1100 on 8-9-8 @ 2 V but I can not boot with higher Mem Voltage than 1,85...

also there are some real problems with the Chipset voltage up from boot, more than 1,25 is not possible...

I know I can change all of theese voltages in windows with EVGA E-LEET
but if I can't setup this voltage In the BIOS I cannot boot with 2:14 Divider or with higher UCLK Multiplier...

I hope you can do something to make it better bacause I love this board
This CPU realy flys on this Board but it is not easy

last what is realy bad is that every windows crash, depends on to high CPU clock, gives me no oppinion to reset the system, I must switch of the PSU and wait 5 secound before I can start the system...

€: I see Multipliers works better on the new BIOS but I can only run 29x and 33x all between this dosn't boots
but an other boards this multis runs fine so they are not broken

Yea some people have issues with SZ1B. I haven't noticed a difference. The multiplier issue is known over 29 doesn't work. We are trying to fix that.

Any other issues you have with it shoot me a PM.
