I wish the start putting heatsinks on those CPLs
With 45nm Quads they get finger-burning hot...

So far, it seems to be the only X58 with a digital pwm. The questions are why they didn't use a digital pwm for the memory and maybe the northbridge, and if watercooling blocks will be available to replace that cooling scenario. It seems they are very concerned about cooling the digital buck converter.

ive heard these x58s are still producing alot of heat but a well designed heatsink beats a robust looking monster any day

Well, IMO they could have make the NB heatsink better instead of spending so much on the PWM section.

In the previous review didn't they say that they were intending their cooling solution to be able to accommodate custom cooling? Like being able to bolt a NB water block on? Personally I think the mosfet cooler is fine. No need to water cool it I assume. But if you can't plug a water block on there somewhere I'd rather they stuck with the previous solution they had from Thermalright. I don't see how this solution is any different than all of the other craziness that MB manufacturers are thinking up. These people sit up at night thinking of flashy new ways to make monster heat sinks. When is the entire industry going to simply move to water? You can buy a Viao with stock water cooling. It's quiet as a tomb.

I know what you mean but from owning a DFI previously since the heatsink are all interconnected those PWM sinks will actually help the NB cool aswell although Everyone im sure would much rather have the sinks seperate so if you decide to alternatively cool the NB you dont have to replace the PWM sinks and so forth.

Well even if they are interconnected, it would have been better to have a better heatsink in the NB to get even better temps. You get my point

no. they are not. bloodrage uses some manner of 'hybrid' circuit, but other than that all others are pushing high phase, high freq analogue circuits.

I posted in the wrong thread earlier, there's the full press release with around 50 images here

The press kit is on page 2.

I like the idea of being able to move the flame freezer thing around

I like the layout enough i guess... just chop off those two coolers that seem to be growing off the NB sink lol.

Oh, I can put two Flame Freezers and they even allow me to use one CPU cooler at the same time! What a wonderful option. I am Extreme.

    LOL.

Nope, I'm on my 5th DFI board in the last 8 months (X38's and X48's) and they all pass 500fsb for Duos but they can't handle Quad power demands and they get stuck at 460 to 470 fsb no matter what.

This is a known issue with these boards and if you look around you will see that is real (some got 500fsb bumping PLL to 2+volts but that wont last).

A project flaw is possible, continuing with the same mistake all over again since X38 that's unacceptable.
