lets complain about power consumption, shall we?
i better start thread digging where you are complaing about 130w and 120w versions of AMD's quadcore

prices looks decent btw, i thought intel would ask more money for nehalems

Remember the difference on TDP and actual consumption. Plus the turbo mode. 3.2Ghz=3.46ghz etc.

But ye, If it was to me. There would only be sold low and ultra low voltage chips. But im also a treehugger. And yes, I hated the prescott and forward P4 and I didnt buy 65nm quads.

The L5430 would be the fastest CPU if I had anything to say

do the servers use Turbo mode too? If not, I wonder why the TDP is as high as it is for some of those.

Any word how nehalem does in virtualization? Looks like this is where it will be playing catch up with shanghai the most.

looks ok for the W5580 (comparable w/ current prices) I'm way more interested in the MB layout and if they're going to use the dual tylersburg-36d chips for more pcie channels. I've been praying for a decent board with 16x,8x,8x,16x,8x,8x for a while now!

Maybe it is nice to credit the original source of this information, but I'll save you the hassle:
This is where you got it from, as can be seen by the word "onbekend":
    http://tweakers.net/nieuws/56756/mee...erschenen.html
And they got it from Digitimes:

Well as said the prices are not bad. The speeds are though. When are we ever gonna see a 4Ghz chip??? It's not like it is impossible, people on this site prove that every day.

4Ghz combined with reliability, working in all situations, amount of errors, degration, yields etc. Nopes...

    Thats why.

I hope so, this feature would be really, really sweet for servers, worksation users and others who do not overclock. Almost free performance gain.

What about price drops for harpers and other 45nm xeons?

4Ghz combined with reliability, working in all situations, amount of errors, degration,. Yes. My main system runs at that speed and I have not seen any issues at all.

You cant compare user "validation" with real validation for servers, your oced 4ghz would fail server validation for sure.

Try with 5million systems and it needs to be aircooled with a relatively cheap and light solution. it also needs to last atleast 25 years. And it needs to work also when you are in africa, india etc in 45C outside. It needs to be within regulations for radiation and interference etc.

nope, all i know is when i will have my OEM created config for testing. no word yet on pricing.

And yes my focus is on testing nehalem virtualization against shanghai, knowing that you can't use HT and turbo mode in a virtual environment it will be nice to see the core enhancements. Since the npt and rvi are already in there second life now with amd, while intel needs to get it out for the first time with nehalem. But nehalem has the added value of more memory channels but slower l3 cache according to anandtech.

4p intel nehalem is a different thing, it will be a huge leap forward for intel comparing against there own product.

W3520 for me, 'i7 920' is such a silly name.

Yes, really, I'm waiting for it because of the name. I get to nitpick when the CPU costs €250<

Any word on the motherboard options? looking at the current price of the sp boards it might be worth building a dp system if they offer some mild oc options. Any clues about chipset and ram used?
