Anyone old enough to remember the news report showing videos dozen(s) of oil tankers anchored in the Chesapeake Bay during the gas crisis of the 70's?

9.3$ per Gallon last night in Norway for Diesel. You Americans are still spoiled when it comes to fuel prices, but don't worry you will get there

My friend from work drives avg 90km/day to work which makes 450km per week.. This price is why diesel has come very popular here within a few years and the government lowered new diesel car taxes in the beginning of this year. And the fuel itself, how much of the price is the tax there, 15% if i don't remember wrong? here it is 60% The funniest thing in this is that none of our raw oil comes from american market, mostly russia, norway etc..
BTW, what do you think is the average size of gas engines there today? is the great american dream of huge V8s dying here i think it's ab. 1.8 litre..

yep 35km to work, one way. It's not uncommon here for people to have to drive 50km to work if they don't use public transportation.

I think the tax is 60-70% of the price

why do you people put up with such high prices in EU?

    why no revolt or protest

I drive prius so it dont bother me yet..when it is 6+ a gal though it will start 2.

you should not lie down and take those prices and taxes, although i can not say much for our country..i have a feeling either we will just take it up the arse..or things will get really ugly at the pump soon...

Ofcourse there are protests, but you get into it sooner or later. However, your area/country must have a well built railway or busway. For us in Stockholm we are forced to go by railway or busway since there are car taxes in the central areas and there's a proposal of only allowing bio-fuel cars.

$1.30/L or $5 gallon here. I burn 10,000L/month with my business so this isn't fun at all anymore. One of my cars is ready for replacement and I'm seriously considering a Prius! 50MPG in city traffic can't be ignored...lol!
