Asus P5e/p5e3 X48 Bios Flash Mod Working

Hi, i've tried to flash P5E(X38 DDR2) => Rampage Formula (X48 DDR2) and P5E3 Deluxe (X38 DDR3) => P5E3 PREMIUM (X48 DDR3) and it works fine, if flashed with Maximum Extreme it works but give some boot errors (IRQ, Temperature issues). Later i will post some photos

Can you tell me how you flash it please? Im trying to flash my P5E with 0207 rampage BIOS downloaded from Asus but it failed with both EZ FLASH and Floppy with Afudos. Is there some special way? Thank you.

    Just type: afudos /iROM /pbnc /n

    Afudos version matters.

    hmm...
wonder why flashing the P5E3 Deluxe to the X48 Premium worked for you, but not for andre X_X

i was thinking about buying the deluxe to flash to premium myself, but not sure it's worth the risk atm...

I can confirm the P5E3 Dlx to P5E3 Premium mod works. I'm using afudos 2.29es.

    My P5E3 Dlx's PCB version is 1.03G.
    Intel QX9650 @ 3.6GHz 1.25v in bios
    Asus P5E64 WS Evolution

Yup right, same here... It works and performance enhacements are noticed. It's the same board same chip, i've compare it with ASUS X48 Premium same thing, pure ASUS marketing. Upgrading X38 to X48 = BIG MISTAKE, it's a fact. Others manufacters like GIGABYTE and DFI works the same way, get BIOS from X38 and voilá.

The only problem after mod is, the vcore range changed from 0.85v-1.70v for P5E3-Dlx to 1.25v-2.10v for P5E3-P. So after mod, I need set 1.55v vcore to get ~1.20v in bios hardware monitor.

P5E3 Premium has a jumper, enable it will allow vcore up to 2.1v. While P5E3 Dlx has no such jumper. Maybe after mod, bios think the jumper is enable, so vcore range changed to 1.25-2.10v.

So basically, after mod to p5e3 premium bios 0204, the board boot my E8400@3.0GHz at default vcore, which is 1.2250v, resulting a 0.99v vcore real. Fortunately, my E8400 can run 3.0GHz@0.99 without problem, so I can enter into bios, set vcore properly. While others may encounter no boot problem, if his chip cannot run stock speed at ~1.00v vcore. That may explain this mod works for somebody, but doesn't work for others.

In that case... It's quite strange P5E detects X48 Chip in all programs but P5E3 DLX => Premium still detects X38.

That is strange!!! Maybe the bios recognises something that doesn't match up?

Does this flash I preformed add the extra mem settings?

Yes, all mem settings available on P5E3 Premium will be available after mod, as well as CPU GTL Rel for 0/2&1/3...
