    Dual Harper In The House

I just got my second 5420 from newegg and all i can say is AWESOME!!

This machine is super fast and quiet, not to mention energy efficient.

    this is the setup:

    X7DAL-E
    2 x e5420
    4 x 1GB 667 FB-Dimm
    PCP&C 610
    ATI X300
    160GB SATA2 HD
    PCI Wireless Network Card
    2 x 120mm fan

    CPU's OC'd from 2.5GHz to 2.81GHz, RAM from 667MHz to 749MHz, and FSB from 333MHz to 374.5MHz

Running BOINC @ full load only pulls 233 watts from the wall!!

    my 6750 @ 3.6 pulls 190 watts at load and my Q6600 @ 3.48 pulls 260 watts.

This is by far the most energy efficient computer i have.

Here is what all this sums up to be. (see picture below)

I just checked the pricing on those cpu's : only 264€ that's pretty cheap compared to the clovertowns? is that correct?

    That's it. I can't take it.
We have "permabans" and I'm coining a new word:
Permawood: That state of mind that one sucumbs to when reading constant threads of machines with huge ability.
The "upper" head fills with blood, impairs logic and the only release is in going into debt and building one of these beasts.
Like the other kind of "wood" one often loses a pair of pants at the completion of the task..
    Nice machine, enjoy it!

Same here. I really want to see how it works out crunching WCG WUs. The farm may be in for some efficiency upgrades or additions....233 watts. That's sweet.

    Thx,
    Bob

O-K Dave, take deep breaths and keep saying....I will resist, I will resist, I do love my Clovers, I do love my Clovers. I'll see what days I have available for a loooooong counseling session.

I think this case might require either shock treatment or a Frontal Lobotomy.

    +18.3K with 32bit OS.

i am not sure how demanding cinebench is on a computer, but i think i might have my 24/7 setting a little low.

We need to get you on a 64 bit OS and try cinebench 10 64 bit.
    That's the standard now.
Here's a number for you to beat:22,564( you will! )
That's my best with the clovers at 3258mhz

And that leads me to a question. Could a rig, exactly like this config, run regular old 64bit Vista Ultimate? I've only run gamer/desktop types of rigs. I like the look of this one for it's potential points per kilowatt-hour and initial cost.

(Side note - I equate max point production to mean maximum efficiency of WU production. I have found this to be true in my effort to maximize the HCC project WUs. I'm about efficient WU production, I really could care less about where I fall in "score". )

And to Dave, and other server dudes, I assume if I get a rig like this in the stable, you'll help me clock it, yes?

Dang SiG, The credit card is already laying on the table. The tax returns have already been received, the moolah is in the bank.....too late for an appointment on this one.......

    Thx,
    Bob

The cpu's were made with 64bit in mind, of course they will run Vista Ultimate.

Sounds to me like our therapy sessions are going great!

Just do what I do, blame Dave for all your purchases.
