Hi Everybody,

I am wanting to do a couple minor mods to one of these:

Sound Activated Control Unit for Cold Cathodes

I've already extended the mic--NP.

I don't think extending the sensitivity adjustment unit itself is practical, so I would like to wire in a 3 wire potentiometer to the case front panel. I have 2-wire pots on hand--can they work? Or do I need to pick up a 3-wire pot?

My biggest issue is wiring the on/off/flash switch to a rocker switch on the front panel. It appears to be: 2 mounting pins + 8 electrical pins. 6 electrical pins would make sense to me, but with 8--I'm a bit lost---Help! I just want to wire it up to a rocker on the front panel.... I'm also unsure about what rocker I need--I'm not real up on the double-pole/double-throw and all that--Help! :p

Here's some clickable pix--I left them full size:

Mic-Bottom Left
On/off/flash-bottom right-ish

Apologies, but electronics are my weak point. Any help is Greatly Appreaciated!

Thanx!
