I did what zolkorn does with cooling but put 12cm on passive blocks
    and this is idle temperature

besides ever wondered why second gpu got more temperature, like 15-20C? well because one is copper and second aluminium.

my visiontek 3870 x2 just came.
I know you need the 6 pin and 8 pin connectors plugged in for o/cing in overdrive but do I need the 8 pin connector to overclock using riva tuner/amd gpu clock tool? or will 2 x 6 pin work?

just like the others with the 8 pin it will be fine on 2 x six pin, just no overdrive.

    can anyone help?
I got the card installed and using amd clock tool with the patch from nordic but I benched at stock and got about 17,630 and benched after I applied the clocks and got close to the same score??
clock I set was 890/945 for both cores in amd gpu tool/

Did sampsa use the same method as zolkorn for his incredible overclock?
anyone want to collaborate and we do an official guide for x2 overclocking? I'll write it.

trans am, OC'ing is pretty basic and is just AMDGPUClockTool+patch.
Set the clocks you want on both devices, and go for it.

I'm just using AMD Overclock Tool to raise the clockspeeds and Rivatuner to set fan speed @ 100%.

ATi 38xx Bios Editor V0.91 Beta Download Link: http://www.dr4gon.net/ocn/atibiosedit_091Beta.zip

Some things to mod with it are lowering the 2D clocks, lowering the 2D Voltages (maybe for less heat during idle), raising the 3D Clocks in the BIOS so you don't have to "overclock" ever, raising the 3D voltages (careful, make sure you have adequate cooling).
thanks everyone. I'll try again later.
PS. HOW DO I GET THE FAN OPTION IN RIVA AGAIN? i tried power user ati overclock setting fan +1 but still no option. I totally forget this one. anyone?

You mean adjust fan speed by rivatuner right ?, added " 950FH " in the rivatuner.cfg file on RV670 line

    YES! Thanks man!

everything's working great now except gpuz always reports clocks exactly half of the actual clocks I set??

got the fan working in riva at 100% and I got one core BN3 931.5/1017 and BN4 is 931.5/1017

I'll run each core and mem slightly higher and then bench until I get some video error message to find out each max. I think I can push the mem further with some better ambient temps.
I had one side as high as 1044 mem. I can run 945 core on Bn3 but in FF forest as soon as the 2 lights leave the treetrunk at the end of the test i crash to desktop. I might need to put the case by the window later and rebench.

here are the window cold air results: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=177692
