Cooler Express 2007 review @ PCApex

Stumbled across this during my daily news reading routine, and I thought this could be interesting for you guys.

Sorry if it was beaten to death or anything like that, didn't saw any other reviews besides that one, then did a search and saw the other thread (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...cooler+express), but it was 2 month old so I figured I shouldn't revive it.

    In any case..

Cooler Express 2007 Design Super Single Evaporator CPU Cooling Unit(CE-48-S-1C) Review:
    http://reviews.pcapex.com/cooling/co...ler.php?page=1

I finally hit the wall at 4.5GHz, working all the angles the magic multi still stayed best at 12. I did manage a run at 3dmark 06 with a score of 12171 but blue screened shortly after the run. The CPU was running at 6C degrees and the head still at -43C.

Stepping down to the ideal memory divider of 1/1, the FSB at 400MHz and the multi still at 12 gained a stable 4.4GHz and the best performance on 3DMark 06. 13454 were the top score with the overclock and still a cool 3C degrees.

    Cheers,
    Faceman

That's a good compressor but judging from the CPU temps during the tests it's tuned for a ~200w load. The power consumption is off the charts though, a good 30% higher than my NF11FX builds

    not bad

this is really hard to judge not knowing how good or bad the CPU is and how hot it runs

but my blackbox still trashes it bigtime ghetto rules!!!

I'm fine with that, atleast with the Cooler Express it comes equipped rather nicely, just need someone to chop out the captube and measure it. Wish they put valves on the things so we could get a measure of the static and running pressures w/o having to pierce it twice.

Actually I should cut them some slack. Seems they put together a decent unit. But with large manufacturing runs, I doubt ther quality will be very high and I forsee a couple issues. But for the average user, probably not bad.

Certainly not the best that cpu has done on a singlestage. I think the chip has degraded some. I will throw it on one of NoLs unit if possible.

In all honesty, reparing tends to be more work than making brand new one...
Need to recover, clean up, and than start doing like brand new unit. It's PITA...

Nice unit to use to get into phase (and it's not ugly )
What's better this or a Vapochill LS?

Probably this because its is tuned for a higher load, I think. Looks like a better insulation kit too, doesn't use those heater pads.

And could someone please tell me what in the heck is a PITA?!?!

Believe it or not, they do have a lot of greek fast food places around here Thought they are called Gyros and Pita is just the bread part of it? Similar things are called Naan in India and Pakistan. I love foods...

gotcha, pain in the ass, odd because a pita, or a gyro especially, is an easy meal to eat.

In Detroit there is a section called Greektown, which despite the casinos has many authentic greek cuisine. i.e. Drunk food.

Because it would have died? X6800 pulling positive core temps doesn't bode well for the unit and a quad load.

I have a feeling when they've told us or reviews have showed 400 watts holding, this is either power consumption or some insane wierd heatloader that only puts about 180-200 to the evaporator. And considering it has a Chilly1 evap basically, and evap is "-46C" and core is positive, somethings says that probes just as accurate as a mach's

Is it just me, or does that look like the chilly1 2007 mounting, could that mean that it uses a chilly1 block?
