I'm convinced that it is my E6600 giving up on me and not my motherboard.

I need a lot of VCore to clock higher. No other settings seem to help, other than setting RAM to SPD above 370fsb.

To run 375FSB I need 1.55 VCore. No other settings needed. I can get into Windows at 400FSB @ 1.55Vcore, but in no way is it stable (even 1.65 isn't stable), maybe for 1M, but thats it.

If I lower the multi to 8, it's stable for hours on dual SP2004. Can't run even 2 seconds at a multi of 9. From my somehwat limited experience Im assuming my CPU just isn't as great as some of them out there. But hey, a 3375mhz Conroe aint too bad, I'm happy enough with it.

The magic number for my E6600 L624A824 seems to be 370FSB as well @ 1.5V
Going any higher requires excessive amounts of vcore.

    Download CrsytalCPUID and have fun.

It lets you modify the mutliplier downward via EIST. But it works well.

well did you run Orthos with Large, in-place FFTs as you did with prime 95?

    Guys

Dont know if this has been covered already but here goes.

I have just built this rig and was getting alot of instability in windows.

Have just refitted my ram into the black slots and all is well know.

Not sure why this is as the manual says to use the orange slots first...but hey it worked for me.

    Orange slots fine here

Has anyone else notice that you can Run dual channel with slot combinations:

    1+3, 2+4, 2+3, 1+4

I have a booting related problem with my P5W DH Deluxe:

    First my systemspecs:
    I use 2 SATA2 drives on the ICH7R in RAID0.
I use 4 SATA drives on my Promise FastTrak S150 SX4 in RAID5.

The problem is that when I enable the SATA bootrom for the ICH7R the system doesn't want to boot from a bootcd / bootdisk, it just hangs. When I disconnect the FastTrak the problem is solved and also when I leave in the FastTrak and disable the ICH7R bootrom it is solved, but I want to boot from ICH7R, because I'm installing windows on RAID0 (ICH7R). I've flashed the newest (1101) bios, but I can't get the ICH7R (with bootrom) and the FastTrak to work together. And the funny thing is that something like Memtest will boot and works fine, but my normal bootcd with Partition Magic 8 won't boot and neither will XP SP2 bootcd.

I used the same setup on my previous machine (P4 2.8 @ Abit IC7-G) without any problems. I have the newest BIOS in my FastTrak.

Does anybody has a clue on how to solve this??

I was getting that problem as well.

With 3 disks on the ICH7R in Raid 0 it would hang at boot shed loads of times.

I unplugged the disks...wam bam straight into bios no probs.

I think this board sucks to be honest. My bios update has gone bang so im taking the board back tomorrow to change it for something else.

You could request a new BIOS chip. I don't think this board is bad, just not as easy going as some.

Perhaps its just me, but is anyone else having issues with the OCZ PC2-6400 Platinum Edition RAM and this motherboard? I'm thinking this might be responsible for some of the odd problems I'm having despite an otherwise stable overclock.

No, i did small ffts for stressing cpu as intended by Orthos. But if everything is stable it should be no problem to run it. Ram and Board coudn`t be the prob here since i checked it running 410 FSB 1:1 with lower multi and got no problems after all. CPU test was with under 400 FSB.

this is not a problem or fix just interested in how differant programs stress the core 2 and how the v core droops.
i used speed fan to record vcore and motherboard temps plus coretemp for direct core monitoring.
i am seeing about 0.05v droop under dual prime and temps shoot way up but with super pi 4m and 1m , 3dmark2k1 and half llife 2 only a small increase.
so far i have found no software i run that works the core2 as much as dual prime so do i need to be dual prime stable ?.
later i think i will try divx encoding and 3dmark 2005/2006 cpu tests.
this is at 380fsb 3.42ghz 1.51vcore in bios

P5W DH has been revised on the hardware level for the higher MCH volts so bios won't help.. you need the updated version to get higher MCH

I believe this is a problem with the mobo. The problem comes with using a software fan controller such as speedfan. I CANNOT control my fans. I have my Big Typhoon hooked up to the CPU Fan connector, my 12 cm intake hooked up to the Chasis Fan 2 Connector, and my 12 cm exhaust hooked up to the Aux Fan controller. Speedfan READS the speeds of these fans correctly, but if I lower the speed % down to say 50%, the speed is still max RPMs, and thus LOUD for 24/7 use.

Is that my only solution? Can everyone else control their fans via Speedfan on the p5W dh?

My OCZ has run great on both the DS3 and this P5W. Of couse my E6600's only letting me go to 360-370, so I'm not using the RAM at high FSB.

    WELL THERE YOU GO!

Take a look around the forums. Plenty of people saying Small FFTs is stable and Large FFTs is not. Take a look around the forum... I bet if you had run Orthos large FFTs it would do the same as prime95, and also that prime95 small FFTs would have run fine...

Had some problems with PCI-E lanes when only running 1 nvidia gfx card...sometimes it would only be at 1X or 8X speed..8X wont make a difference in my case, but set slot power to heavier instead of auto...now its working fine, and my boot times are far faster!..dont know why.
