Yep that is one nice Xeon. Failing that, I'd definitely get a Q9650. Mine does 4GHz on X48 (One REX, also on my DFI) boards easily.

that Xeon X3380 would be right up your ally, forget the QX9650/QX9770
Ok guys, you convinced me, I just bought the X3380 from Systemviper. Can't wait to receive it and try it out!
Thanks all for your advice :) If you have any "overclocking tips" on a DFI X48-T3RS please let me know :)
I'm trying to find a guide for my DFI's bios, here on xtremesystems but can't seem to find it :( Anyone knows of a good guide
for the so complicated DFI x48 T3RS bios?
p.s. xeons don't have any compatibility issues with other hardware or programs right??
Cool! The baby is on its way :) Now gimme some times for ocing it properly :P :P
X3380 is cool stuff indeed and I'm looking forward to see your results.
Thanks oldcomer!! Now I need 2 things, maybe you can help me
1. DFI bios guide
2. I'm thinking of going for SLI hack no my x48 T3rs, are the latest drivers of nvidia available with the mod? Is it possible to mod all releases that follow?
The baby has just arrived!! I received systemviper's X3380 :) I still haven't tried it though, it sucks i need to wait a few days for the chipset heatsink to get here!!! :D EXCITEEEED
Just FYI, I'm running at QX9770 with a Corsair H50 and a P5Q Deluxe at 4.3GHz 1.45V without any problems. I used to run a QX9650 at the same speeds as well but it required more voltage.
I have my x3380 @4.20ghz 1.4v quad pumped dual channel with h100i stable, temp during prime95 with case shut and ambient temp 25c... cpu max 80c
