DirectX 11 alone doesnt a good game make.
Nvidia are basically right in saying you wont be seeing DX11 games for about a year. The ones before then are basically the exception to that rule. Even some of those ones are basically DX10 games with a little extra zing.
according to nvidia, its only 4 weeks away... :D
but seriously... i see 5 games on that roadmap... just because an engine is supposed somethin in 2010, doesnt mean we are going to see games with that engine in 2010... its most likely like this: engine devs said they will have dx11 in their latest engine within 2010, which is most likely the end of 2010 or at least the second half. then games can be developed based on the engine, which takes at least half a year so we are easily in 2011 to see a lot of dx11 games.
and amd bashed nvidia for their physix pr stuff, that their games are only B or C titles and not major titles... well then what is this please?
the games they mention are B at best, no potential A titles at all...
gah! STFU with this marketing nonsense already, both ati and nvidia!
you want to show us how important dx11 is? then bring it on and show us retail dx11 games or at least release some dx11 game demos in cooperation with the game devs! and the same for nvidia and their physix campaign!
give us something... NOW... im sure im speaking for most of us if i say we are tired of promises and claims and constant "news" that aim at disrediting the competition. use that energy to actually do something useful and support your customers! instead of showing how the competition sucks and does things wrong, do something good and right that helps your customers! dont try to break what the competition has built, focus on what you are building and do it better!
why aint crysis 2 on the roadmap ?
dirt 2 is an A and the frost bite engine is going to be the battlefield heroes 2 and 1943 pack, then trinigy is going to be assassins creed 2 and the new POP (but POP is way out)
i dont think so... assesins creed2 is coming out in a few weeks... if it would be dx11 you could bet you 4ss it would be on that list :D
its 10.1...
Im looking forward to DX11 AvP. Always been such a huge Alien and Predator fan. Doom3 was pretty scary is a wickedly creepy way but AvP can just be straight up freaky scary if its done right. Thats it man, game over!
Oooh I recently got Dungeons and Dragon's Online. The game has some DX10 features. The lighting is good and water also.
So for a free game to get some DX11 love = win.
Although I'm still on 10.1 hardware here :(
yes, but thats it, its patched... like most games... so it can probably give us a couple extra fps, but no tesselation or more complex shader codes, no improved physics or ai via direct compute or opencl etc etc. its cool that we see a lot of games PATCHED to dx11, but i wonder how useful it us...
if 4aa is fine but 8aa stutters... having it patched to dx11 will give the game a performance boost, but how much?
enough to then be able to play it at 8aa, ie, the next higher resolution or setting? i doubt it... so whats the point really?
what dx11 can do that REALLY makes a diference is tesselation and direct compute/open cl, and more complex shader code...
and i dont think we will see any of this in major titles in 2010... but hey, id love to be wrong! :D
i think ati should focus less on this pr battle with dx11 and more on performance and features like eye finity...
nvidia will have dx11 as well, and even if they are only 10.1 i dont think most people would really care as long as performance and price/perf is there...
Without Windows kernel WDDM 2.1 drivers support we get no performance boost or extra stability from D3D11 cards.
Though WDDM 2.x and above is totally incompatible with any D3D9 and below cards.
Windows 7 only supports WDDM 1.1 drivers.
The only extra part of D3D11 we might see in games is tessellation.
ATI already supports tessellation with old D3D10 cards.
Though there are programing ways to get tessellation effects equally fast with WDDM 1.x even from D3D9ex cards or Nvidia's D3D10 cards.
It depends whether nvidia will support this way of programming to get equally good and fast tessellation effects from any Windows 7 compatible card.
I think not, since Nvidia is going to release Fermi based D3D11 cards in a few months.
win7 does NOT support and will NOT support wddm 2.x drivers?
Oh I understand that patches can only give us a small boost.
I agree about eyefinity also. It's something I shall actually use.
The main reason I am not upgrading from my x2 is simply that I have no need.
I can run anything i want smoothly at 1920x1200 and since DX11 isn't being used to build games from the group yet I'll be on my X2 for quite some time.
i thought that the actual desktop manager/windows effects only used 1.1 features and did not limit the graphics driver as 2.0 is needed for dx10 and 2.1 for 10.1.
win7 even has warp built in and that uses a system driver in 2.1 to emulate its features from a 1.1 or 2.0 driver
Tbh nvidia is kinda half right... 4 games in the next 4/5 months (battleforge doesnt even really count... then all the others are tba.... (and they will be the good ones ... ok dirt 2 will be epic but yea)
All D3D10 cards support directcompute και multi threading.
AVP AVP AVP and Dirt2 will be great. 2 A's out of the proposed B titles on the list, I'll take that Average any day..especially over batman and mirror's edge.

2 A listed games coming out this year, and one in Q1 '10, and some of you arent pleased?
Bring on DX11!
Pretty sure LotRO won't have tessellation, since the game is out for a year already...
Same for DnDO which is out for... 3 or 4 years? Looks pretty ugly if you ask me.
Also 3 of these are just engines, not games.
Well, not bad I guess.
what in the world do you need 380gtx for?:shrug:you own a drive-in size monitor?
or just to benchmark get high scores :yepp:?
what makes this site correct on the dates btw?
notice the ati/amd ads lol the chec grmers site may be WAY OFF no?
its a bash nv news section witch leaves out another section to read at xs
