Since so many early i7 users seem to be using the P6T (including me) I thought that it would be great if a few of you more experienced OCers posted your OCing documentation for the rest of us to folllow.
So if those of you who successfully OCed an i7 920 system using an Asus P6T board could please post some how-to and/or screens of your bios we would all love it. Also, if you could include the cooling and ram you used that would be great!

I'm in the same boat as you with me hardware... I have just one last piece I'm waiting to arrive. Theres probably quite a few of us in this boat, so maybe once we all get our gear we can post back in here with our experiences. Like I said, this P6T/920 combo seems popular, so there should be a few of us at least.
I'm just waiting for some store to get either the TRUE 1366 adapter in stock or some other compelling cooling setup.. Overclocking with this stock heatsink is pointless.
Coolermaster has a 1366 adaptor out already for their coolers. Doubt any of them are as good as the TRUE, but something more than stock to work with.
Sounds good, once all og you get your gear ready please post in with overclocking results and details.
This board and the 920 do not like 20x200, 19x200 is fine. If anyone knows how to get past the 20x200 hurdle, please enlighten us.

well, 211x19 didnt work out too well, i didnt put the voltage over 1.64v for memory so i couldnt push my ram up to 1689 and i didnt want to run my memory at 1200 which was one below 1689, maybe i will try to raise the memory voltage just to see if thats what is holding me back.

I have my P6T, but waiting on my CPU cooler. I was wondering if it is worth it to remove the northbridge heatsink/heatpipe assembly and remount it with some high grade thermal grease. Is it worth it? or has ASUS improved their assembly capabilities and it should be fine without modifications?
I'm not sure, but I remember a comment about the northbridge no longer being quite as lava hot as the older chipsets were. I suppose you could give it a go if you are really comfortable with tearing apart your mobo's heatsinks, but I'm not planning on monkeying with mine. The risk to reward just seems too slim.
everything is on the way, i should receive it tomorrow or thursday worst case scenario.
as i've read 75° would be normal heat under stock cooler / stock voltage.
i find it a good info as i consider 60° to be quite hot on my actual rig
would 3,8 easy to obtain 24/7 on air ?
I've spent a lot of time asking question, but I'm in the same boat as you... still haven't got the last part in the mail. From what I can tell it seems to depend on rather or not you got a "hot chip" from Intel. There are people on water who are gettong 90 degrees at 3.8ghz, and there are people here who have reached 4.0ghz on air. I'm definately new to OCing, but I think it is safe to say that there are two factors that effect the OC. Luck. And how good of an OCer you are.
What multi's do you have in the bios with retail 920/940?

I have the DX58SO board on my main 920 system. I also have a P6T deluxe and a second 920 on my test bench.
I have my DX58SO system running 24/7 at 965 speeds. All I did was increase the bus to 150. :) Simple 3.2Ghz Core i7.
Cool, anybody else here come across anything new while OCing their new 920's? I should be able to start my OCing this week (Monday if I'm lucky). So let us know if you have a nice stable OC you wanna share.
don't know if anyone experienced it...but i cannot get 4Ghz 30mins prime stable, my temps are OK as i disabled HT, and i'm stable @3,8 1,3 Vcore
i pushed to 1,35 got ok to windows and further to 1,4 and it did not improve stability..same as 1,35...
could it be the TDP ?
There are a few potential problems with the P6T Deluxe that I would like several owners to confirm or deny.
1. It has come into question whether or not the P6T Deluxe has both the memory and QPI multipliers unlocked when using a retail Core i7 920 or 940. All other X58 boards do. Please confirm or deny.
2. The ability to enable or disable Overspeed Protection on the P6T Deluxe with the latest BIOS and a retail Core i7 920 or 940 has come into question. Overspeed protection is the feature that caps the maximum power usage of the Core i7 920 and 940 at 130W by monitoring the core voltage and amperage. On the Intel x58 Smackover, Gigabyte, MSI and eVGA X58 boards, there is a concrete labeled option in the bios to enable/disable the overspeed protection, or even adjust the level at which it kicks in.
The P6T Deluxe has an option in the BIOS called CPU TM function, and several people have mistaken this for the overspeed protection control. But it is not. TM stands for Thermal Monitoring, and this is the feature that kills power to the CPU when it gets dangerously hot. This option also exists on P35, X38, P45, X48 and all other non-i7 chipsets. It is not the control for overspeed protection.
From what I have been able to gather so far, it would appear that the P6T Deluxe does not even have the option in the BIOS to enable or disable overspeed protection. Please confirm or deny.
3. It has come into question whether or not the P6T Deluxe has the CPU multiplier downward unlocked on the retail Core i7 920 and 940. All the other X58 boards do, but from what I have been able to gather, it would appear that the P6T Deluxe may not be downward unlocked. Please confirm or deny.
For the ram freq, is there a divider or can you manually adjust the speed? If there is a divider, what is the greatest you can divide the ram speed from the FSB (QPI?) I am trying to determine if I need to get speedy ram or not.
