Nice, I wonder if its just these drivers or what, glad to know its not impossible.
Man, I wish someone knew how to "tweak" the newer drivers to get a couple of 7800GTX's to work, these early ones unfortunately doesn't support the 7800GTX.
tried it too with GTXs - unfotunately no go...
God , i love sli.
should be great with a 670 @ 7ghz ;)
It works only with Forceware 66.72 , 66.77 and 66.81, and already with 66.93 does not work. And in all these Forcewares there is no support 7800, a maximum that can work, it is 6800U.
running both SLI & Firecross on P5wd2-p , nice!
Just like most of us suspected all along, for some reason Nvidia just won't let SLI function on 955X boards :slapass:Quote:

77.71 has 7800GTx suuport,but they don't work on 955.
Who can include 7800gtx support in 66.81??
The first experiments with 66.81 look so:

But the control panel does not wish to work.
that`s it,2 Ultras running a solid SLI with these early forcesQuote:

W00t, have you enabled SLI with 2x 7800 GTX's and some 75.90 drivers? Tell us more please.... I don't know any Russian either, so all I get is the you're running G70's with SLI. Will it run games/benchmarks?
AWESOME SAM!!! SHow us more please
We can't show more.
Now we working with drivers.
All results will be later.
Fair enough. I'm very exited to see what'll come of it. Best news I've read in many weeks :toast:Quote:

Excellent news, although the result isn't exactly encouraging atm.... If you need someone else to test it out, let us know. I also have some results with my Abit NI8 + 7800GTX SLI setup with different cpu speeds that you can compare results to eventually.
Has tried other drivers. All the same something not so... For management of the driver it is too much parameters, and I am not so clever what all is the nobility. Unfortunately with such as 77.72 at me it does not turn out to include yet SLI.
http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/6...003mark8ur.gif
Well, I'm affraid I won't be of much help working on the parameters in the drivers, as you're definetely already way ahead of me in that department :)
I'll just keep my fingers crossed, there has to be someone who can make it work, even though Nvidia doesn't want it to.
bump, any news on updated support?
At present there is a hard work. I cannot tell more because there is no still a final result.

Great job - looks like you are almost there! Now get that GTX going :p:
That's looking good there. Although , right now I use an Asus P5N32-SLI, the P5WD2 is a much better motherboard in so many ways.
Keep the results coming :)
guys, you're really awesome !
the day you'll find a way to fully activate SLI on a non-Nvidia based motherboard, you'll be slashotted :D
Won't be surprised if the NVIDIA FBI comes knocking on your door.
So, will that work with 2 7800gtx with 66.72 drivers?
So... NVIDIA FBI will have to borrow turn near my door. :p:Quote:

Very nice Sam impressive work you're doing! :toast:
Congrats...See if you can crack it :up:
It's not supposed to work on the P5WD2...Nvidia has a press release on the issue.
Its all very tricky though. Dunno how sli may be different, but for crossfire, you need to fool the software to thinking one of the cards is the crossfire edition cards and it works - meaning you need cf edition bios...OR new drivers.
What I dunno about this is if its the motherboard bios thats enabling the sli or the vid card bios thats doing it. Most likely you're on older drivers for this to work ??
Perkam
Which press release Perham? I would like to here it from the Nvidia Lions mouth.
If they can implement crossfire, there's no reason why SLI should not work especially since Big Sam proved it otherwise.
If all was so simply I now would test 7800GTX on 77.72.Quote:

Does anyone have 2 7800gtxs cards to try? That would be sweet.
Tried many including me... but it does not work, the drivers do not support 7800.Quote:

This is stupid, it's all in the platform detection written into the drivers, nix that and we have what we want. Same with X1800 cold bug that is not a hardware problem. We really need someone who understands and can mod drivers around here.
Good work Sam.
I agree. I posted on several forums including the ones that support Forceware and OMEGA drivers but nadda.Quote:

Well the only Idea I have is to try a manual driver install. That way if the detection is written into the installation program (likely), you can bypass it. Still the driver .DLL's might have some detection as well and that makes things much harder.
It is in the drivers as well for sure. Like "Think" I too would be messing with the drivers if I had a clue. I've bought 3 different Nforce4 intel Ed motherboards, and they pretty much all stink, especially compared to the P5WD2. I had my P5WD2 stable at 370 Mhz fsb (actually did superpi 32M up to 379 Mhz fsb) with my P4 670 and 2x 7800GTX cards in the motherboard.Quote:

I have a 4MB email and file upload limit, and the driver is 17 MB's so here it sits.
Should I order another 7800 GTX with the R580 supposedly so close to release? :confused:

Comparing SLI performance to my P5N32-SLI, the 16x/4x (and southbrigde as well) doesn't seem to impact performance too much. For those interested I have comparelinks in my sig @ 266 Mhz fsb (CPU @ 5067 Mhz), 2x 7800GTX cards @ 500/1400.
I think running SLI on 975x would be kick a** with a much higher fsb. Right now I don't feel like bothering putting the P5WD2 back in, but considering I could bench 3d @ 370+ Mhz fsb (5.2+ Gzh on the 670) with 2x 7800GTX cards in there, I'm sure it would be pretty fast in SLI
sounds great. cant someone set those drivers somewhere? so we can download them?
Think, any news?? :bsod:

From the very beginning the idea was to get into a hall of fame on i955, , even on last place. But very big problems with a power supply have not allowed it to make. In the first day we could not overclock cards more than on 500/1400. At any higher frequency all at once was switched off... Same I can tell and about the processor.
Next day Runik has rearranged all on AMD platform and has bought a new power supply. With some problems of a card it was possible to overclock up to 670/1600. Here result: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1514486 Probably we shall try to repeat all on P5WD2 as soon as there will be a free time.

Guys, I have been very surprised to that you ask the driver in the open forum. It seems to me that the given theme does not approach for public discussion for the clear reasons. The driver is received by me on conditions not distributions and full confidentiality. I do not see anything terrible in publication of results... but I recommend all to discuss all details in private messages.
excellent work :):banana: :banana:
ok .i understand your piont. but maybe if we pushed hard enough,invidia might just release some decent drivers to us p5wd2 owners .what are we soppused to do? haha ,we have a board that can sli , but cant get hold off the drivers:nono: i think you guys have done a piece off work :toast:

Excellent results. Also shows that the pci-e layout really isn't a problem at all. Damn I feel like putting my 670 in the P5WD2 again, I had it 3d stable at 5.2+ Ghz and 373 Mhz fsb...
At any rate, congrats awesome job :)

Congrats guys! Awesome effort from day 1!!!!
So.......
As always right at the beginning there were one failures. Specially for tests I have made a power unit for 7800 and it perfectly worked some days on AMD-platform , but directly ahead of these tests we have dropped it... it has burned down.
http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/3626/ps7800015ei.jpg
Huge problems with +12V to 7800 have again begun at us. We tried to solve these problems about three hours on end, and all this time our phase-change system worked. In system for videocards one compressor is in a bad zone of air cooling and from long work it overheats. In it one of the reasons of such overclocking result. We did not try 81.85 driver never before and tested on 77.72 ( http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=4465260 )... though I think it was necessary to begin from 81.85. It is possible to tell that we have forgotten about processor overclocking... we also it were not engaged, and it was capable of greater:
http://img363.imageshack.us/img363/7462/650017lp.gif
Right at the end we have tried to improve result and it was possible, last pass of the test was simply phenomenal... 36k - 100% :) , but both of time the computer has hung some seconds prior to the end of the test. Here it is result one week ago on the same videocards: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1514486
It was result more than 37.5 in 03Mark with 81.85...
But for today we are happy with our result :)

Why not?
There are plenty of edited drivers out there so why not sure with your fellow intel SLI owners?
PLEAAAAAAAAAAASE share this driver with the world!
I have P5wd2-e (i975 + 955XE presler cpu) mobo here with X1900 Crossfire and 2x 7800gtx 512mb lying next to me, so i could do the ultimate test comparing the two multi-gpu solutions on the SAME plattform!
Btw, maybe when nvidia sees that a cracked driver is already "in the wild" they will support other chipsets than nf4 officially.
Def interesting, Im amd fanatic but looking good for intel, with mod'd drivers..
Share with the commmunity, this is what extreme is all about..
I think they don't share it, cause at the second it will be available on the net, nvidia will change their next drivers, turning the trick they found impossible to use... that's quite comprehensible...
isnt it a patch ?Quote:

Hey SAM. You told me you did not use modded nvidia drivers. What's the trick with those drivers. Plz share them.
Quote:
A while back mainboard manufacturer Asrock published a SLI enabling patch for their ULi chipset based motherboards that have two PCI-Express slots. Various rumors suggested that the patch would also function under other chipsets as well, and allow users with other chipsets to use SLI on their non-SLI motherboards. The result? SLI on any platform, no matter what the chipset (just so long as you have two PEG adaptors).
Dying to give SLI a try but don't have quite the right motherboard? A new patch might give you a sneak peak
A few days ago we reported on the leaked ULi driver patch that enables SLI on any Detonator driver if the patch finds a ULi Northbridge. ULi (ironically now NVIDIA) created the patch to work with existing and future NVIDIA drivers -- other similar hacks required the use of ancient drivers to work correctly.
A few people were able to take our advice and create a patcher from the ULi INF files. The result? SLI on any platform, no matter what the chipset (just so long as you have two PEG adaptors).
Several motherboards have multiple PEG slots, but without the SLI license from NVIDIA, those motherboards have never been sanctioned to run SLI mode. Motherboards that currently have multiple PEG adaptors but are not authorized to run in SLI mode include:
* Intel 975X
* Intel Q965
* Intel P965
* Intel 945P
* VIA K8T900
* ATI RD580
* ATI RD480
* ULi M1697
* NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra
* NVIDIA nForce4 4X
Feel free to give these chipsets a try and report your success.

And nvidia already knows that this driver has been cracked, so they will change it no matter what.
81.85 is new enough so it can be used for months before some new games show up that require new drivers for patches to work etc.
Please think about it. Not sharing it will give you LITTLE fame, sharing it will give you MUCH MORE fame and respect....

You can try to ask GOOGLE.com about it. Back I have begun a floor of year with it.
So exactly what needs to be changed in the drivers for this to be implemented??
Give big_sam a break.
As mutch as I would like to see the intel platform have sli
I understand big_sam's decision to not distribute the driver.
