An internal data path allows some cache line fill requests to bypass the L2 cache and initiate an early
DRAM read before receiving hit/miss status from the cache. Under certain timing conditions at low
core frequencies, read data from such a request may be returned to the processor core before the core
is ready, resulting in an internal bus hang or a corrupted victim data buffer.

the ps/2 mouse without ps2 keyboard bug is back in 6123 bios. It was fixed in 618.
I'm new to all of this .... typically, how long would you expect until dfi drops a new "official" version? I know that 6-15 posted for a bit but was quickly yanked. DFI seems to have several outstanding issues going on here, and with all the new duallie stuff coming, sure would be nice to get a new offical base to be working from ....

Just flashed to 618-2 few days ago and now there are new series of Bioses come out. I think the bioses are just like share market listed in stock exchange (This forum). We have to invest(flash to new bios) in it and sell it quickly (reflash back to previous bioses) and watch it closely (tweaking it and reading the concern bioses in this forum). For the time being, I will stick to this 'share' even it won't make profit out of it. (Problems in dual core performance)

I have couple of questions about Crucial Ballistix PC3200, 2x512MB setup. Best results I have with 310 and 310p BIOS. New 623-3, 618-1, 618-3, 615 are not working with default settings (2-2-2-8, 200MHz). System is not booting - hanging. Only possibility boot Windows XP (SP2) is with FSB about 250MHz and 2,5-2-3-8. With 310p it is OK.
Is Crucial Ballistix PC3200, 2x512MB supported by new BIOS versions?
Can you recommend best BIOS version for Crucial Ballistix PC3200, 2x512MB OC?
Can you develop Crucial Ballistix PC3200, 2x512MB optimized BIOS, or it is 310p?

Tried it (-2) on my UTT... vs 510, not a single mhz gain on anything but it seems to boot into windows faster... :P I got CPC option back with 4 sticks of UTT which disappeared on previous bios.

This board solved my cold boot problems... I'll have to test my max RAM speed again, but I'm impressed so far. :thumbsup:
Another interesting tid bits. I previous had issues where my half the boot (either cold or warm) would freeze in blank screen for 30sec-2 min while loading windows. (Either searching for USB or video initialization or something it was doing is my guess) Which isn't happening anymore. This was one major reason I moved to Abit a while ago. (only to find Abit's heatpipe solution won't work in my lian-li v2000) due to inversed motherboard design.... blah.... Other than the fact, it did eat 4 of my Mushkin blue for breakfast.
Nightmare happen again!!!!!!!!!!. The COLD BOOT happen to me once again. Yes. once again. I was having cold boot until the release of 615 Bios. I was happy that 615 Bios cured my cold boot as well as 618 series of bios. But.....yesterday, when I was trying to oc my kingston value RAM, at around 240Mhz, my comp kept BOSD. Thus, I installed back my TwinMos SP and tried to oc but my system kept BSOD too. After shuting down my comp and unplug the AC and replug again because I want to fix a fan to blow over my TwinMos SP. Beep.....Beep.....What on earth is this??? Cold boot again???I tried one stick of my TMSP and it managed to load into windows but another stick is just beep....beep.....But after a few hours, the so called 'faulty ram' is working and could load into windows with oc. But after tweaking for sometimes, cold boot again.. Up to frustration, I stick to my kingston value RAM(256mb). I tried Bios 615 and 618 series (618-1 / 618-2 / 618-3) but all to no avail. I do not know is it my kingston value RAM that caused cold boot? But this time my cold boot is much more serious coz last time I managed to load into windows with two stick of my TWSP without oc. Now, without oc, my comp refused to boot with 2 stick of my TWSP. I don't know should I RMA my TMSP or not.
So I am the unlucky one with 'reoccurance of cold boot' and I am the best example of this senario that Bios 615 and 618 cured my cold boot but it came back again. Talk about Cold boot problems. my redline ram was a pain in the asssss. When you run at extreme overclocks on your vapo its probbly twice as bad.
Yeah, I just got a cold boot with this BIOS. What makes me even agrier is I got better RAM clocks withg 510-2. I only switched to this BIOS because people said it cured cold boot issues. It SHOULD have cured my cold boot issues (VDIMM at boot was 3.3V in 623-2 vs. 2.56V in 510-2).
If it weren't for this board's insane overclocking capabilities it would be in a box on its way back to Vancouver. :cussing:

Well... interesting tidbits... I am having wierd latency issue (be it onboard nic or my pci nic I had in closet).... Its all fine (pinging to router or to self) is 1ms or <1ms... than I go full round of gaming come back ping self or router again and it reads some random numbers (could be 3ms, 20ms, 60ms, etc and negative numbers too... lmao)
Only thing that changed was X2 and the bios at same time... not sure which... but I do suspect it is bios or some strange thing. I even reinstalled XP to confirm the issue. (take out router ping self and same stuff) Very interesting indeed. Normally this doesn't concern me much except I get random network disconnection from BF2 (thats when I think I get negative total ping from the server probably boots me to prevent hackers...)
Is there any advantage over 618-2 for my system?

if you fail to boot after bios flash , try to clear cmos or press/hold the insert key and press reset button to reset the system ... The system bios will automatically hide the non-functionable ddr divider/multilier depend on the cpu clock multiplier selected
This works well for my system, but I have a feeling that -3 isn't great for my Ballistix as only the orange slots work (no post at all with yellow, even in single channel).
Also, I think 260 3-3-3-8 isn't the peak for this RAM, it doesn't even get warm.
Anyone got any input what I should use with my Ballistix?

For TCCD you should use the 623-3 bios, although I have had better luck with the 518-3 bios.

I'm using 623-2 and it works great with my OCZ Rev.2 TCCD.
I've got yet another issue with my Ultra-D board. I was running fine with the 618 BIOS and a Venice 3200+. Last night I was going to put in an X2 4200+, but thought I had to flash to at least the 623 BIOS to get the dual core CPU recognized. Flashed from the bootable BIOS CD at DFI-Street, the flash seemed to work fine. After it finished the machine restarted, went to the LanParty logo and froze, couldn't get into the BIOS. Tried restarting the machine a few times, ended up just sitting at a black screen. Checked the diagnostic LEDs and saw two on, so tried moving the video card, no change. Tried putting the video card back, found that I was now getting 3 diagnostic LEDs. Tried disconnecting all HDDs and optical drives, no change. Tried resetting the CMOS by pulling the battery and moving the CMOS reset jumper, no change.
So here's where I'm at now: my machine was working fine, tried to use the 623-2 BIOS, am now stuck with a black screen/no boot, 3 diagnostic LEDs. The power LED flashes continuously when power's on, the HDD LED stays on all the time.
Any ideas anyone?
Have you tried clearing the CMOS? (thats the little red jumper, above the little battery by 1/4 of an inch, and on the side of the board...) If not, just move it from the pins its on now (WITH THE MACHINE OFF) to the other side (there are 3 pins), DON'T POWER ON, and just let it be like that for about 1 minute.... Then try to restart again.... If that doesn't help.... http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/

Yep, tried clearing CMOS many times: tried just moving the jumper for a few minutes with power off, then moving it back, no change. Tried moving the jumper and removing battery, then replacing them both, no change. Only thing I haven't tried for resetting the BIOS is holding Insert while booting, will try that tonight.
Any ideas whether this is likely to be an issue with the new BIOS I flashed?

I have heard of this happening a lot where X800XL cards wouldn't post after this bios was flashed. I am still on 618 because of this. I have been itching to flash to 623 but was scared for this very reason.
Did you try the second pcie slot over the first? Some have had success trying the second and if that doenst work putting the card back into the first would have it post. If you can get yours hands on a PCI based card try and post with that then in bios change it to default to PCIE first or just reflash to a previous bios. Hope it gets sorted out alright for you.

Tried a few more things last night, didn't get anywhere new on my machine. I'm wondering what the default DDR voltage is for this BIOS? I know I normally ran my current RAM at 3.1 or 3.2 V.
I tried bringing a stick of my RAM to work today to test, machine at work wouldn't boot with it at 2.6 V and can't change the DDR voltage on this motherboard.
Going to try bringing home a new stick of value RAM tonight to try, hopefully I'll be able to boot and raise the DDR voltage enough to get my current RAM running again.
Does this seem reasonable? Does anyone know what the default RAM voltage is for this BIOS? I'd imagine it'd be 2.6 V or 2.8 V, but confirmation would help. Is it possible that my RAM will simply refuse to run at anything less than 3.1 V?

Are you saying that you believe the BIOS would have reverted to the version that shipped from the factory simply by pulling the battery? I had always thought that the BIOS was stored in an EEPROM that didn't require power to maintain its contents.
I've now been able to boot.
I can only boot with some value RAM and not my OCZ RAM. I've tried each version of the 623 BIOS as well as each version of the 702 BIOS but no success with the OCZ RAM, yet the value RAM boots every time.
I've tried changing the Vdimm while I'm in the BIOS with the value RAM, then switching to the OCZ RAM and booting, still nothing.
Any ideas anyone? I'm probably going to go get some replacement RAM tomorrow, but I'd really like to know what to do with this OCZ stuff I have now. Think there's any chance for a replacement? I don't believe I've done anything horribly wrong, as all was well until this BIOS upgrade.

Anyone else having problems with overing clocking with OCZ ram? It won't get past the part where it says the thing about the DMI pool. it doesn't even show that, just restarts.
I have tried upping voltages and all that.... Man, I hope I don't have to switch my RAM in again, that would be 3 different sets of RAM.
