OCZ TCC5 Overclocking Results?

I've been tuning my OCZ Platinum Rev 2 v1.1 TCC5 and was wondering if anyone had timings/results to share?

I've been testing for 5 passes of Memtest #5 till I find the max so I can test at 95% of max for 50 passes. So far I'm at 305MHz, 2.5-4-6-3-8-15-3-2-1-2-3072-1-E-A-0-7-2-8-5-A-D-16-7-D. Memory bandwidth is around 3470MB/s at 305x9. LDT=1.4, Chipset=1.6, DRAM Voltage = 2.9+0.3

I've written down every tweak and its result but it's at home. For some reason I get more errors with trfc=16, twtr=2, or tref=4708. R/W Queue Bypass at 8x or Bypass Max at 4x doesn't seem to make a difference and 2.93V gives me the least amount of errors. I'm using BIOS 414-3, and have a 90mm fan sucking air from RAM, 80mm fan blowing air to RAM & mosfet.

Well I had DDR600 passing 100 test #5, 30 test #8, and 5 full tests. However I get errors at 120% and 126% using Memtest 3.2 in Windows while testing 800MB of RAM!

DFI Settings:
BIOS 414-3
Vdimm=2.9V+0.3V
LDT=1.2
2.5-4-6-3-7-15-3-2-1-2-2-3072-1-E-A-0-7-2-8-5-A-D-16-7-D

I got more errors with:
LDT=1.3 or 1.4
Vdimm increased beyond 2.93
tras to 7
twtr to 2
trp to 4!

Hopefully someone can share their OCZ timings?

Flash to 510-3
Start low and go high... my OCZ does 300 at 2.93, but it also does it at 2.75..
Keep LDT as low as you can, although I usually keep mine at 1.3
Use Tref of 3072 as a general value
Use that thread for all the timings you could shake a barn door at

Using 5/10-1 bios. Can do 25 passes memtest 5 & 8 at 280 2.5-3-3-8, but fail prime and have errors in windows memtest. Can benchmark fine though. Even at 2.5-4-4-8 still not 100% stable. Also can bench 9x300 2.5-4-4-8. Highest 100% stable for me is 275 2.5-4-3-8@2.9v. Currently running 24/7 with 265-2.5-3-3-6 @ 2.8v. LDT 1.2 NB 1.6 Bios settings-2.5-3-6-3-7-12-2-2-1-2-2560-A-E-A-0-LV 7- LV 2-7-5-Fast-16-D-16-7-D Going trcd of 4 at 275 is no faster than 3 at 265, so running that with less volts. Have tried everything to get 280 100% stable, but just don't think it's possible with this set. :(

This is my highest oc, 282 1:1 2,5-3-3-6 1T @2.75v (fan on top). :D
Either my memory controller or chipset doesnt like higher stable clocks.

try ocing with mem divider to see if your mobo is limiting factor.

Well, i purchased a DFI nF4 Ultra-D and a new PSU. :D
Finally im able to max the memory clocks. 320x8 2,5-4-3-7 1T 1:1 @2.9v. :toast:
At this point Memtest stable. Next i will prime to find my best configuration.
Clearly comparable to TCCD modules. :clap:

(bandwidth is lower than normal due to 8x multiplier).

BioPC, what board and psu were you running before? Are you saying that you tried these ram chips with a different board and got much higher with the DFI and a new psu?

Thanks. :banana: I have a table printed off at home that shows what each tref in tweaker corresponds with in the BIOS but I'm at work and don't have it with me atm. If you have one just look up 166Mhz 1.95us.

Tried 5/10-3 and 5/10-2. With 5/10-2, managed to get 9x295-2.5-4-3-8 to pass 32m of super-pi, but not prime stable. It's still over 20 seconds slower than 10x265-2.5-3-3-6, and that is completely prime stable.

My results (amrgb): Winchester @ 2620=291*9 - 27m40

Or the new A64 cores are slower than the older ones in superpi 32M calculations or you need to tweak further your memory.

Specially Eldonko's results seem too slow compared with mine.

amrgb, is 291 limit for your ram?

what are your timings?

It's limit of my Winchester :mad: With this hot (30ºC ambient) its limit is 2620.

GSkill 4400 LE, 440 TCCD chips.

The max I got so far with 2-5-3-3-6 was 298 but I've not tweaked thoroughly because this fsb has no use for me. I'll post the pics later.

EDIT: damn, it's always the same thing. When we want to repeat a result we can't.

Nice results amrgb :toast: Just ran 10x265 2.5-3-3-6 32m pass again. I was wrong, it's 30 seconds faster. Same cpu speed. Having to loosen timings to get 295 is not worth it. Just wish I could get 280 stable with same timings, then I could keep my cpu at 2.8.

Yeah I think I need an OS formatting or something, my SuperPI times have been super slow the last few weeks. I was getting 26m20 at 2810/255 2.5-3-3 a while back, now with better clocks I get worse times.

This thread isn't a competition for the fastest SuperPI times though, its for max TCC5 OCs. :)

Could you guys post ALL of your DRAM BIOS settings instead of just like 2.5-3-3-7??? There are way too many settings on the DFI boards and it would be helpful to all of us. Thanks.

I can memtest at 300 also. Lets see some windows memtest or 32m of super-pi.

i got 2.5-4-3-8 32m stable.

2.5-3-3-6 wouldn't pass more than 2m at the most

i never tried to give them 2.9v, 2.83 was the most i gave them

using 618-3 bios right now

Mine wont do 2.5-3-3-7 at anything more than 270MHz..

2.5-3-3-5-1T 2.75v 285mhz
2.5-4-3-8-2T 2.82v 312mhz

still working with them, but 1T over 290 is no go as far as I can tell. I suspect the memory controller on my winnie isnt the greatest.. although its not exactly horrible. 8x325 2.5-4-3-x-2T would be perfect.

yeah mine max out at 270 with 2.5-3-3-7 and can get close to 280, like 279 with 2.5-4-4-10 then no matter what I do I can't get 280 stable :S Mine only like 2.65 volts anything higher or lower adds errors.

Nice results Ryder. I can't get 280 100% stable with trcd of 3. I've even tried with looser timings than what you have. Played around with voltage also. 2.9v seems to be about the best. Any suggestions?

First I would start with tREF...the 166 1.95 in A64 Tweaker actually correspsonds with 2 different settings 2336 and 4708...I am on 2336.
Max Async and Read Preamble also play a part...although 9 and 7 didn't let me get even 1 MHz higher...it crashed at about 24 min through :(
Part of it could be CPU....this Claw clocks ram like mad.
Play with your Drive and DATA Drive...I bounced all over..your's might need more or less...remember even #'s are nomal, odd #'s are weak at varying levels. TCCD/TCC5 likes weak..but some have good luck with normal strengths.
It also depends on the Sticks....if you bought yours back when we didn't have 5 speed bins....your a lot more likely to clock high. But even now..I just got these 2 weeks ago (paid for them myself, for those that would say I got "cherry" sticks) and as you can see they do very nicely.

how could i test my on die memory controller? What tests to run, Could I do say test till i get 1 or 2 errors in memtest86 then bump up vcore and see if they go away?

I've tried 1 stick and been in bios memtest at 315mhz. errors like crazy tho. My chip seems to be a masterpeice work of silicone.... so I dont understand how my chip is good but my memory controller is bad, I just ran superpi 1 mil at 3ghz on air with 1.6vcore, when I have a day off work I'll test the winny i have and see what these sticks do.

You pretty much know its your memory controller when no matter what you do to timings...waaaay loose and 2T even...won't let you clock higher. The controller just refuses to clock the ram at more MHz.

Thanks for the help :up: I have bounced around with the drive strengths. What about skew? Also have tried different values, but not with much luck. I bought these around the end of april when I first noticed the price drop. I'm not dissapointed with these sticks, just trying to get the most out of them :D

you will have a v1.1 printed on your ram labeling. something like this (i had to zoom in a bit on the pic, but you get the idea)

the word on ocz support forums is that tccd is back on plat rev2's. some ppl got it recently and found v1.0 printed on label.

i'm also planning to get a gig of that stuff soon, i'm just hoping the price won't go up. i don't give a damn if they're labeled tccd or 5, i know its basically the same stuff. the only thing that matters to me is pricing.

There's nothing of the sticker about the version (1.0 or 1.1)
Could it be on the PCB ? Cuz on the end of the PCB I can read BP808...on the other end I see "1.1"

@super, that just has to do with the brainpower 808 pcb, not the version of the ram

The v1.1/v1.0 should be found exactly where ex2cib showed. That 1.1 is another unrelated thing.

Bump the volts and you may be the first to reach 300 and definitely the TCC5 record holder. Keep trying.

I have some pc4200 Plats TCC5 which are at 300x9 at 3-3-3-10-1t 2.8v right now. I passed test #5 for 7 passes real quick just to make sure. Unfortunately my cpu will not run super pi 32m at 300x9. I have a venice coming soon so hopefuly I'll be able to get that. Timings are not super tweaked as I have only had these sticks a short time.

I only added the sandra pic for the tweaker shot. Like I said these settings are untweaked. I need to play around a little more.

i think im going to have to drop the multi down to 8, CPU is starting to max out, and i dont want that to have any effect on the mem clocks. i tried to change to 2.5-4-3-7 last night and see how high i could push 1m...only 3 mhz more than 2.5-3-3-7. at 2.5-3-3-7 310 i can run 1m, changing trcd to 4 only got me 3 more mhz.

what is the record for TCC5 anyways?

i tried dropping the multiplier to 8, same exact situation, only 3mhz more in 1m. so either the mem controller has reached its limit, or there is some setting i am missing.

how much would upping the LDT voltage and chipset voltage by .1v help? each of those are on their 2nd value from the top in the bios, whichever those are.
i might try disabling bank interleave, dont know if it would help at all

ex2cib, try the following
- max async latency: 9
- read preamble: 6.5
- Trc: 12/14
- Trfc: 16/20
- Tref 2336
- Vdimm: 2.9v (3.0 if you want to take the risk)

Also, try -2 bios. Unlike it's common to hear, it's the (one of the) best for TCCD.

i tried 2.9, actually ended up worse than 2.83. i think 2.83 is where i need to keep it, seem to get the most out of it there. now my highest 1m on my ram is around 313-314

find your best voltage, tref value and data strenght and lets see if you can hit 300, 1:1 HTT, or can you get 32M super pi stable at 1:1 HTT@2.5-3-3-7 300 HTT? :D You have a great venice there, also try 2.5-4-3-7. Thanks

I set both to +0.2v above the normal values. I think that these voltages aren't too important. I only set them to +0.2v to rule out these two factors.

I'll do it tonight after work - as for Super PI - she's already super Pi stable. I'll try what you want to see and get some more screenshots up tonight of the TCC5 results.

After reading some of the TCCD/5 info, OCZ Plat REV 2 are TCC5 currently, right?? Also, If I have EPOX 9NPA SLi is it safe to predict 290MHZ+ or a DFI Lanparty SLi-D will help cross 300??? Or its just simple plain Luck??

i wouldn't go so far as to predict 290+, i have only tried 1 pair of these, and mine work great, but i can't say the same for others. it depends some on your CPU.
it seemed when OCZ first started using TCC5, the results weren't that great, but they seem to be getting better from what i can tell.

its highly dependant on the CPU.

the PC5000 parts from every manufacturer are very high RMA rate, and its not the ram causing it for example..

Can anyone add to this with some EXPERT sttings please - I am using the 712 BIOS and tried all previous BIOS and it wont even post with OCZ PC5000 ram installed (one stick tried all slots) the RAM is good though works in teh non EXPERT MOBO at 315Mhz.

Ifound with the tcc5 the lower the fsb the higher the vdimm needed.

So... I can do 290 but not the 300. Kinda left out feeling, but otherwise its Rocking as DDR400 able to do DDR580.

btw, am from India too and have the OCZ TCC5s.. strangely, on my winniw n DFI NF4 U-D, 290x9 is rock stable.. but 291 and above even if i drop the multi isnt stable at all. I read somewhere (dont remember now) that using SATA HDDs limits the HTT to 290. True?

ALso, I have done upto 308HTT with the same CPU but in A8Ne. So i think the CPU can go higher. Is it the DFI limiting me?
