Sneak Peak at the OCZ memtest86

Thought you all would like to play with this one.The difference is a few "extra" options ;)

Load memtest and you see this.
http://www.ocztechnology.com/upload/...t/CIMG0367.JPG
We are upto ver1 now BTW ;)
Next up Press C and you will see this.
http://www.ocztechnology.com/upload/...t/CIMG0368.JPG
Notice option 9 ;) press it and you get this.
http://www.ocztechnology.com/upload/...t/CIMG0376.JPG
Now there is a disclaimer that pops up to so you know to be careful ;)
http://www.ocztechnology.com/upload/...t/CIMG0382.JPG
This soon disapears and you left with this.
http://www.ocztechnology.com/upload/...t/CIMG0371.JPG
If your using A64 you can even play with a few "Alpha Tweaks" if you wish...just press 5 ;)
http://www.ocztechnology.com/upload/...t/CIMG0372.JPG
Setting command rate is just an expmple.
http://www.ocztechnology.com/upload/...t/CIMG0378.JPG

Now once you set a timing paramiter the test restarts but you will notice it does not exit...so, you can now set and play with timings all within memtest without having to reboot.Only real missing option is fsb change but we may get that working soon ;)

It work with A64, i875, i865, 915 and 925 and i have an idea nf2 also (although i am unsure)

you can grab the files here:
memtest cd iso

Floppy image

Full release is next week, source code etc posted on the OCZ site, treat this as a leak to see what you all think of it.

Thanks to Wee and Eric for this release with a little help from me also ;).

good stuff, no more waiting for that 10 extra seconds going through the BIOS.

That's pretty cool. Going to have to dig up a floppy.

Oh WOW! The ability to modify timings within the program is totally sweet! Does the "modify all" option allow you to change CAS latency?

A64 cas latency is an issue...all other timings are there an say 4/5 of the alpha tweaks.

One of the bonus's of you using this is that not all board have the extra tweaks for A64, so you can set and play with them in memtest then apply them with the A64 tweaker in windows.

Can we get a dos executable?

Like teh latest versions of memtest so that we can just boot up a usb/dos thumbdrive and run it from there like I do now? PPPPPLLLLLLLEEEEEEAAAASSSSEEEEE!!! :bounces: :bounces:

It'll be cool if OCZ's ram came with software unlocked EEPROMS (of the first 256bits I think that JEDEC specifys to software lock)...then write a program so users can tweak SPD settings of their own :banana4:

Why would we want to do that?

Yep Tony - it's pretty sweet to play with, great to change timings on the fly.

You guys will love it.

Boards bios allows for most tweaks...i would say its better to ask bios writers to add the timings you see in the DFI bios for example into their files...somethings are better locked away, but some i do agree are fun to tweak...this is why we did memtest86 with the timing options.

My AA8 only allows for the standard timing adjustments and PAT....

works thanks on DFI NFII

Cas latency on A64 is the issue, cas on 925x should be ok

A suggestion : hold tight to zero-begun of the PASS Number if any test mode changed!

worthy mod...!
