thats the V series, which is the cheaper version. I'm guessing (hoping) chaintech has the Z series with the 4 slots.

I noticed that most of the A64 Boards Chip-set is always near to the AGP Slot. Not good if your going to install a freaking big HSF or W/C the chip-set.

Just beacuse the board is SLI doesn't mean you have to get two video cards.

The DFI will work at 16x with one card, and 8x each with 2 cards. The only way to get 16x on each card is to use the dual CPU model, as it has two chips to power each slot. Anyways, that molex connector looks very intruging on the DFI, I wonder what it's for, maybe for 4v on RAM or something crazy?

that dfi looks interesting with the 2 cards.. only problem with that setup is that its going to be hard to mount an evap on both of the cards :hehe:

The molex is most likely for the video.

I wonder if the molex on the DFI is maybe similar to the Intel mobo I had. On the Intel if you don't have a 24 pin ATX connector and you just use the 20 pin one then you must use the molex as well for the extra juice :rolleyes:

i bet ecs is prob the most cheapest of the lot though

will these still run on ddr1 or ddr2? if so what pin configuration 184 or different?

Foxconn,Biostar and Abit also have it.........some of them at the bottom of the cart,and 1 of them on the way of the pci slot,so i prefer the Dfi ^^

Current AMD Athlon64 CPU's only support DDR1 i.e. built in memory controllers.

I like the memory placement on the DFI as it makes mounting a fan to cool the mem a bit easier BUT with the CPU socket sitting so low it makes it practically impossible putting on the case side panel with a prommy mounted :(

So? Just cut a hole in the side of the case for it. You could put a sheetmetal cover over it, and make a holder for the tube as it goes in the side of the case from where ever it started from.

I want to keep my window and fan blowing on my GFX still. Ah it's just for benchmarking. Who cares if it's fugly. :cord:

thats normal for engineering sample boards, the final boards will most likely not have a molex plug :)

what's the molex plug for? testing voltages?

I'm pretty sure the molex near the PEG slot on the DFI is an output connector, for feeding case lighting and other low-power devices. There's a similar connector on my reference board. Might be wrong though!

Check the Tyan too. Dual CPU, bridge per CPU, for full 16X per GPU :slobber:

those plugs are susually to supply the chipset with energy afaik.

With those SLI boards...do you have to run 2 cards in it...or can you buy one, run for a while, and then later drop in a second?

you can run one.... and then get a second later down the track

Somebody should get that system along with two monitors, then start HL2 and Doom3 at the same time. Might be difficult to play with one mouse, but it'd make a great photo.

how many do you want??, 1 for sound card + 1 for TV/FM card but if you use a pci raid card then you have problems ;)

Mariachi, i think 200$ more or less... thats what the suggested price from nvidia is and i dont think dfi will price it a lot higher... but they could... everybody wants their board seeing as all of their latest boards were by far the best choice.

They all do, or at least have support for it.

dfi board will probably cost more due to having above the standard amount of sata ports and other bits and bobs. Might not be, $200 isn't a lot for a new board with that kinda spec, its 8 layer, and gigabyte get away with selling the 939 nf3 board for that kinda cash. We'll have to see.

Molex connectors are quite often seen on reference boards but show and tell boards are often mocked up to look as finished not neccessarily working boards.

THE abit thing is just funny, the bits missing are clearly(ok i assume) fatality twin otes fan missing bit. The box is clearly for a Via chipset also its so likely to just not be good :p

Personally can't wait for a dfi single slot board. NOt for anything at all related to nf4, most of its useless. I forgot what reviews said but same chip, is it really any faster clock for clock? mem being controller on cpu there was very little diff between nf3 150/250/via clock for clock. I just want a board that has had some thought put into its design, some brains used to think about what users might want voltage/clocking wise and some accountant working out the fine line rather than adding useless features to inflate the cost.

i really hope dfi follows their lanparty+infinity history and releases a lanparty nf4 without the extras with still sli, or without the extras and just one pciE slot.

also a 2nd thought, won't 2x16x pci-e slots run off separate chipsets increase the latency when communicating between teh cards? AS i understand it normal sli with one chipset sends all data down one pci 16x lane and the cards share it, does it work differently with the lanes working of diff chipsets?

I'm thinking if there is a penalty for dual chipsets and with software not using pci-e effectively any time soon and not needing even 8x really now, would a single chipset design be faster?

don't you need 2 cpu's to run full SLI both in 16x mode?

does it need to be said again that the main purpose of nf4 is to introduce PCI-E? other than the extra sata support i dont think theres really much else different from nf3250gb

im also looking forward to all this stuff, tho who knows how long it'l take to get down to oz :rolleyes:

i think my upgrade path will be 3200+ 90nm, dfi nf4 and 6600gt, with possibly another 6600gt down the road a bit.

SLI will split up the bandwidth to 8-8 I believe.

by the time you sell your "old" agp 6800gt or x800pro, many people will have pci-e mobos and new cpus. whos gonna want to be stuck with an agp card they must use in their outdated mobo and cpu?

These boards look pretty nice, hopefully they are going to be available with the 6800gt by the end year with some sort of numbers so we will able to can get it. Cant wait to get rid of this rambus with the mobo which cant do 120fsb which I have had for nearly 3 years... Also with 13500+ views, seems nforce4/sli is creating alot of interest.

Get me some gskill and 3500+ and ill be lovin it :P

Hmmm.... from the looks of it, the board doesn't necessarily seem like it supports dual channel, but apparently it does (or atleast thats what the little words on the box to its right say.). guess its sort of like the nforce2 (only 3 memory slots), but atleast on the boards with the nforce2 chipset they put a larger gap between slots that were using different channels so you could easily see if you were running two memory modules on different channels or not.

What's the ETA for the DFI motherboard, it looks damn sexy, but i really don't want to wait anymore for my new pc

The only things that worries me about this is SM4.0,
even 2x6800U Extreme Mega in SLI canno't help you in SM4.0 apps.

The Dual CPU Tyan board would be excellent but why only two 16x PCIe slots? If you're running SLI, then you can't stick in another PCIe card like maybe gigabit ethernet, that is unless they built it right and the onboard gigabit port runs off the PCIe bus.

When in the piss is these things coming out? I thought everyone was saying mid Oct! Well its the end of October and nothing in sight. :(

Actually mid-November is the soonest any of these were suppose to be available based on reports in the past few months that I have read.

first of all, AGP is not going to die overnight/suddenly or disappear from the face of the earth, it will be around for several more years.

as far as PCI-e goes, it is going to be real hard for you to go cheap to 'get in', and i think that irks you more than the loss of AGP.

yes, it will diminish what you can get @Ebay for used AGP cards, so my advise is to clear your inventory of cards while you can at a decent price,................

save the money............... then get the best PCI-e card and motheboard/CPU you can with the proceeds, and move on.

Hi, I've been lurking on these forums for almost over a year now but just now registered to be able to converse more directly with certain forum regulars that I need help from.

Anyways, I have been reading and searching for as much on SLI boards as I can, and from what I have seen, it is implied that only ASUS and MSI will officially release boards by mid to late Nov. in North America. Official release does not mean wide availability and may lead to crazy costs. It seems like most other makers of interest are waiting for after the New Years.

In fact, in DFI-Street.com's forums, one of DFI's representatives posted in the forums that headquarters told him that current schedule places release of the LanParty SLI-D around Jan. 2005. He did say though that it is a "when it is done" situation meaning that it could be earlier or later. Just check under the "Ask DFI" thread on that page.

F'n sucks! I setn back a perfectly nice ATI X800XT AGP card just so i didnt get stuck with it when the PCI-e boards hit and now i have to sit here for another couple of weeks with a old ATI 800XT <-- been so long i cant even remember the name of it hehe) and most likely a FX-55 when i buy that this week. :( heh buyh a new 939 board just to use it for a week or 2 sounds stupid to me. burrpp ahh.. life sucks.
