With only one module , it's recommended to installed in DIMM1 , DRAM timing set as below

Due to K8 has intergrated memory controller , and each TCCD module will not perform as the same as the one I got ...

Not all the similiar setup can running at DDR600 using 1T , it's depend on the CPU and DRAM you have ...

If such bios configuration is not stable in your system setup ...

Try

1 . Increase Trp to 4

2 . Raise DRAM to 2.9V or above , and try DRAM Drive Strength 1 first no matter you have 1 or 2 TCCD 512MB , if it's not stable , try 2 , 3/4 will not be stable once DRAM voltage is too high for TCCD

If it's still not stable , in order to keep the best performance , it's recommend to keep the memory timing(or you can even try to decrease Trcd to 3) and decrease the FSB frequency to see what's the highest stable limit of your setup , it will maintain the best peformance

Setup up to 2T for running at DDR600 is not a good idea ...

Above information is FYI ...

Ps : Some TCCD 512MB Module perform better to set Skew Value to 64 using 1 DIMM, set to 128 using using 2 DIM ... You need to try it ...

My replacement LP UT NF3 250GB (first one refused to do 3D tasks with any graphics card without black screening or freezing and that was after trying different power supplies, hard drives, memory, cpu's, 3 graphics cards and multiple XP installs and bios updates and settings) and 1GB of PQI PC3200 (TCCD's) should be here tomorrow morning. Can't wait to try some of these base settings out.

Oh well after I get that up to 250, back to my PQI. :D

question how does Tref correspond with how other boards and A64 Tweaker list their values ?

i.e.

A64 Tweaker has values for Tref like

200mhz 7.8usec
200mhz 15.6usec

while DFI bios has Tref in 4 digit values like 4708 ?

what's the DFI bios Tref value equivalents for

200mhz 7.8usec
200mhz 15.6usec
166mhz 7.8usec
166mhz 15.6usec

in the bios, the last one is the last one in a64 tweker and so on. 4708 is the fastest and that corresponds to 1.95us 166mhz
hey oskar what is a good skew value for hynix DT43 chips? i have it at 50 now i think. i dont seem to get any bandwidth out of it just stability

I have been running bh5 at 265-270 2-2-2-11-1t @ 3.4 volt for over a week, memtest clear and no crashes at all, all of a sudden I freeze today and if I try to set vdimm to above 3.3, (rail is 3.6 via internal pot) the dfi restarts at only 2.6vdimm. Do I need to turn down the 3.3 to 3.5 or something? 3.3v and 255 I am in windows, but dunno if it is stable yet. using jess' bios....

Tref 4708 or 166mhz 1.95usec lost me alot of pts when testing BH-5 ram and 200mhz 1.95ns cut my sandra buffered in 1/2 lol

I get high points using tref 166.
Maybe 166 isnt good for 2 sticks.

hmmmm can you test for only one module settings? with both ram ....

Using theses settings for two 512MB Ballistix PC4000 I can boot at 300FSB, stable at 275FSB. TCL 3.0 though. Powerstream comes today so I will try later as my 12v is at 10.3v constant now.

I couldn't even get one stick with those settings with my HTT at 275...I think I am stuck with a crappy CPU is what my problem is.

ugp, avatarelectronics sells 3200+ AR if you want a better cpu. That's where I got mine.

Can't afford it but here is what I got so far from his settings...

275x8.0 1:1 with 2 DIMMs

It was a 41s SuperPi time.

41s 1M in SuperPi? If so that seems kind of low, I get 36 with my bh-5 @ 240x10, 1:1, CPC ON, 2-2-2-5.

Well my CPU is only at 2.2 and look at my timings as well.

And another thing to add...If I put my RAM in DIMMs 1 & 2 the system wont even post. For some reason it doesn't like DIMM 2. I my RAM in DIMMs 1 & 3. So far 275FSB seems pretty stable and that is about what you are going to get out of Plat Rev 2 with 2 Sticks in. I have seen some people with 285FSB but I am not sure if that was 100% stable or not.

For me the max I can do totally stable(Prime95 and MEMTEST86 for 8+ hours) with 2 DIMMs(2x512mb Patriot PC3200+XBL with Samsung TCCD) is about 255~260MHz, this is with timings of 2.5,3,3,7 at 2.7v. More voltage and slacker timings does not help at all. I have to use slots 1 and 3 as 1 and 2 are unstable together, as are 2 and 3 together.

With 1 DIMM in slot 1 things are a little more strange. I'm perfectly stable for 8+ hours in MEMTEST86 at 300MHz 1:1 with everything set as Oskar_WU has stated, but I have EXTREME difficulty getting into Windows, often it locks while booting. More chipset voltage appears to help, while nothing else appears to help get it stable. Further testing reveals the same problem at even 280MHz 1:1. The one time I did get it stable in Windows for more than a minute was at 290MHz, Prime never quit with errors, but instead just hard locked as it normally does while booting.

Think it might be the CPU holding me back, and if it ain't that it must be the mobo, I'd be VERY surprised if it was the RAM.

Yeah with me it is my CPU holding me back. My memory controller isn't as good as what some other people have. I wish I had a better one:(

When you were running 2 dimms, did most of your memtest errors occur above 512m when you pushed FsB (Thats What I get and I think we are running into the 2dimm problem for AMD chips)

Usually with 2x512 you use 2T since they're double sided modules and the board doesn't respond well to it since it's like having 4x256 modules. For maximum OC people usually use 1x512 or 2x256.

That is why you get OCZ Plat Rev 2:D People are doing 285+ with 512x2

well it also has a lot to do with the ability of the CPU's on-die memory controller to handle 285+mhz with 2x512mb

Is OCZ Plat Rev 2 better than 3700eb?

on average single stick of OCZ PC3200 Plat Rev2 will clock higher than OCZ PC3700EB although a few PC3700EB from earliest batches clock exceptionally high

Cargo it has been known since back in the AXP days that 2x512 modules normally require 2T to achieve high clocks.

Hey guys,

I have a DFI Lanparty UT 250gb, 3400+ Clawhammer CG, 1gb OCZ PC3200 Platinum Rev.2, PC P&C 510 Deluxe PSU, Radeon X800 XT PE.

I got the board and chip a couple of weeks ago. The chip isn't a very good overclocker. I can just get 2.4ghz stable at 1.64 volts. However I was aiming for a combined level of CPU and Memory performance. I had 1gb of OCZ PC4200 EL but I didn't have much luck with it. I saw a lot of people reporting problems on the A64 platform using the same memory. So I decided to order up some TCCD since it seemed to be the favorite on the NF3.

I got the sticks today. I dropped them in hoping for DDR533. Right now, using the settings at the start of this thread by Oskar Wu, I've managed to get to 300x8, however I have to use the 5/6 divider to end up with DDR500. I've tried a ton of settings, listed in this thread as well as the thread dedicated to the OCZ PC3200 Rev.2. I have not gotten stability over 500mhz DDR. I turned CPC off, even went to 3-4-10-4 and still errors in Memtest 86+ in test 5, towards the end (94%-98%). Thousands of errors pop up. At 500mhz, 2.5-3-3-6, 2.8v everything is okay. 300x8 gives me my stable 2.4ghz and if I could use the 9/10 divider I could get DDR540, but it does not seem to be wanting to happen.

Perhaps I got a bad stick, but after going through the PC4200 sticks, I'm beginning to think my CPU is most likely the problem. I've tried different volts, my LDT multiplier is at 2.5 for 750mhz.

Anyone have any wild ideas that might help? My CPU is a week 10 CG 3400+. Applying additional voltage does nothing. But I can prime95 at 2.4ghz (300x8) with no problems.

You should be able to get atleast 270 or so with 1GB in man...

Try this...

Try loading it at 275x9.0. It will give it alittle over 2.4ish. Throw your timings at 2.5-4-3-10-12-16. V2.9 Volts. And mess with the other timings alittle. Bur try that first.

Thanks for the reply. I gave that a try and it's still the same thing. I tried relaxing the timings all the way down the list. DDR500 does not seem to be a problem at 300HTT. Somewhere between 250 and 266 x2 on the memory and I start running into problems. When Memtest hits 95% on test #5, I get errors on both modules (20mb ->), and I'm talking hundreds of thousands of them. I can post and get into Memtest at 300x2 with no problems, but again errors. CPC on or off does not seem to make a difference regarding the errors. I'll try testing each stick individually tonight after work and see what happens. I do know that when I was doing some lower level tests at DDR440 (2-2-5-2) that I was picking up errors on a single module. I could tell because if I moved the modules, the errors would switch from 0-512 to 513-1024, usually isolated to the middle of the chip (300mb range or 800mb range). So maybe one of my sticks isn't up to the job. But damn that makes 3 sets of OCZ that I can't go over DDR500.

I will say the rev.2 has done the best as the other memory would not hold this tight of a timing nor run stable with CPC on.

I do too man...But right at 250FSB I don't get any errors at all. That is what I have stopped at and I am happy with it for my 24/7 running purposes. I just wish I could get more out of my CPU. I wouldn't mind hitting 2.4GHz stable. Right now I have stopped at 2.25GHz. I guess that is better than 2.0GHz lol

You should be able to get over DDR500 with Rev 2 man. Try clocking your CPU down. Your CPU has alot to do with it. That is what is holding me back on the real high clocks with my RAM. Try clocking it with a lower divider. And run it at 1T timings as well.

I've ran 3 gigs of good memory through the board and have yet to really break DDR500 - so I'm willing to bet it's either the mem controller on the CPU or something with the board itself. I also picked up a SLK948U to use with the open core chip. I dunno if it will get me anything - but hey it's only money! I almost ordered a Gigabyte NF3 board and a S939 3200+ 90nm chip - but decided to give the DFI one more shot! :)

How's your 3.3v rail doing @ load ?

I'm currently running Prime95 with the following:

Vcore: 1.62v (1.63 idle)
3.3V: 3.28
5V: 5.03
12V: 11.84
Vbat: 3.01

I measured the 12v rail with my Fluke DVOM and got 12.19v at one of the Molex connectors. The power supply is a PC Power and Cooling 510 Deluxe, which is pretty much the best PSU you can get for a workstation class system. It provides rock solid rails.

Raising the vcore does not help. Raising the chipset voltage to 1.7 or 1.8 does not help. Raising Vagp to 1.6 does not help. This to me is like the quest to get the 2.4C to run at 300mhz fsb, or the 3.0C to run at 250mhz fsb. It's just a nice round number. I never expected to get DDR600, but was hoping for DDR533 or there abouts. 600 would be sweet though! :)

i'm also there with you unixadm, my 3000+ c0 seems to be the problem with my oc'n, i think the memory controller on it blows. I've ordered two more cpu's just to be sure. I have a 2800+ cg stepping and another 3100+ 1mb chip(one of those weird ES chips) coming in.

I 'm now seeing the same unstability with the memory above 250MHz with 2 dimm slots filled regardless of HTT multi or mem ratio(1/1 seems best tho).

Best I got was with my Corsair TWINX PC4400,with stock BIOS 912 8/27 Managed to get to 265Mhz ,275 was not gaming stable.

Now with the 914 BIOS I cant seem to get the same ram above 250 !!??

What BIOS are you guys using ? Could this be a CPU memory controler taking a dive ?

Apparently AMD has admitted to OCZ that the A64 have issues with two dimms at high fsb.

They are running oskar's 10/5 4.0v likely.

PCP&C have dirty rails, but that shouldnt affect you that badly. You gotta have an o-scope to check them vs. anything else to see the "dirty" rails though.

I am running 10/5 bios - the one directly from Oskar not the modified version.

That's the first I've heard about dirty rails. I have seen far greater stability with this power supply over any other one I have every had. This was especially true when powering a Pentium 'E' processor. But this is just my experience with it. I have 4 other PSU's I can try.

My OCZ 1 x 512MB PLE BH-5 @ 3.27v + 3.3vdimm was only 245MHz stable, now @ 3.42v + 3.3vdimm is stable @ 260.

Some boards may be more susceptable to the issue, but you need an o-scope to even see it so its not exactly a large problem.. unless a board makes it.

I don't think that the voltage readings from this board are accurate. Mine are showing

I just got this ram OCZ 3200 plat. rev. 2 I had some trouble at first but once I found this setup it is working great. I have only testing one stick at a time but I can boot and have been able to run everything I have tried at
2.5-3-3-7 @300 fsb. My best super pi so far has been 31 sec. I am very new to this whole testing gig but loving this ram and motherboard so far. If I was going to try and push my ram more what would be the next thing to lower?

I'm in the same boat as far as ddr drive strength goes. I have my BH5 2x512 doing 235mhz 2-2-2-6-8-11 1t ddr drive strength at 4. 1 and 2 gives me no post. can anyone explain why? It almost seems like Oscar has the opposite results. drive strength 1 and 2 work but 3 and 4 are bad. Is this just for tccd? I have a 3200+ mobile CG stepping so I don't think it's your CO stepping because I am having the same problem.

I can't get the system in my sig to anything, but stock... I have tried may renditions of timings settings. I am not sure what the problem is..maybe a dud A64.

I just got this ram OCZ 3200 plat. rev. 2 I had some trouble at first but once I found this setup it is working great. I have only testing one stick at a time but I can boot and have been able to run everything I have tried at
2.5-3-3-7 @300 fsb. My best super pi so far has been 31 sec. I am very new to this whole testing gig but loving this ram and motherboard so far. If I was going to try and push my ram more what would be the next thing to lower?

It's not TCCD or BH-5 related cause you have BH-5 and i have the TCCD, we both have the same problem.

Did you try one stick?
It gives much better overclocks.

To me this DRAM Drive Strength thing is determined by your CPU.
My mobo can boot at 420HTT stable, so that ain't holding things back and i'm pretty sure this OCZ rev2 is capable of some real savage overclocks.

Only thing left is the darn CPU, mine's an old one, week 50/2003, perhaps the memcontrollers weren't as mature back then as they are now. :confused:

I can actually, just default settings with mem divider set to 1/2 (100).
FSB set to 420 and muti set to 5. that's all.

I think ClawHammer is the key to very high HTT, NewCastle's don't seem to go that high.

SuperPi would have been around 34sec i guess if it was 1:1.

These settings are balanced to DDR600 2.7v. ONE dimm inserted.
(G.Skill PC4400 2.5-3-3-7/2-2-2-5 512MB modules)

I've got another dimm that is not stable with those settings, rized the Twtr to 2.

Drive Strength LEVEL=1 is the best setting for TCCD. (1 dimm)

If its not stable then, rize Read preamble Time to 6ns instead of 5ns.

Disable Dynamic Counter gives me also litte more stability.

You see, don't change the Clocks as possible to keep the performance.
Changing the detailed settings will make the RAM more stable.

Although your post isn't the clearest i think you mean that one 512mb stick of RAM gets you to 280 but with 2 sticks it ends at 265, right?

If you read closely around this forum you'll see each and everyone with this DFI LP UT NF3 250GB has this problem, it must be a bug in either the memcontroller of the A64 CPU or this NF3 chipset or even this board.

The designer of this mobo is having a closer look into this problem i've heard so hopefully there will be a fix soon.

any chance the CPU is limiting me? if so, how do i check this?

I don't think it's CPU limited ...
NC can do 320-360 HTT (I had 3 and 1 335, 2-325, 3-355)
Try with mem divider ...

but i want the mem dev to be 200 \ 1:1 .. what's the point in having high 300htt but the mem dev is 166 and so only 500mhz ddr? no?

PhonyEye, have you tried setting "DRAM Drive Streng 1" and "Skew Increase 128"?

yeah, i typed it every setting that is advised here and in another couple of places.. played with drive strength 1 and 2 in 2.9v...

what could be the most crucial setting that can relief the mem? so i can be sure it has to pass 250htt no matter what?

16 pipe and it was fully vmodded. That shot was along time ago. I haven't benched in like 3 months.

Guys my ram is stable at 300FSB 2.5-3-3-7 according to memtest86. I ran tests 5 and 8 and for hours and not a single error. That is at 2.7v cause if I use 2.8v or 2.9v I get errors in less than 20 passes. The thing is, when I get to windows I will be able to boot and do a couple of things like sandra etc, but eventually my pc will hang. Whats going on? Is it my A64 3400 NC (oldie week 16) memory controller hampering my OC? I am using 1.6 for the chipset. Since my CPU comes stock at 2.4GHZ the problem isnt speed related cause I am running FSB 300 x 8 = 2400. LDT is 2.5 so all seems to be within spec. This CPU wont do anything over 2500 stable so I am thinking I got a lemon speed and controller wise...what do you think?
