Today I have 5 new FXs...Finally I have lovely FX-8300, new one FX-6300, ES 9590, newer batch of FX-8350 and today later coming from shop FX-9370. I wanna begin with FX-8320. Because I have it in benchtable and never tested this piece before. After quick test of FX-8300 and after flagships FX-9370+9590.

My methodics will be max validation (up to 1.575V), max superpi, max Cinebench and few interesting benchmarks (some 3D, some interesting 2D).

I'm very curious about the 8300. If it clocks anywhere near the 9370 and 9590 it'll be the bargain CPU of the decade. (In South Korea I haven't found any new FX 9xxx yet, but you can get an 8300 for $130.)
I know it's a lot of work Flank3r, but I'll be watching for your results.... :D
I'm really jonesing for a new chip to OC, but from what I've seen the 9xxx chips don't have that much room compared to my three 8xxx chips.
Especially considering the price (and combo crap most site require)!

seems the best "air" benchable FX. All CUs are strong. The weakest is CU3 (lastone if first is CU0), but still very good.
FlanK, what is stock (default) core voltage for the FX-9370 @ 4.4ghz? Is it the same as stable 4.7ghz or does it need to be raised? How much for stable 5.0ghz?
I appreciate any info since I may be considering this chip. Right now my FX-8350 requires 1.45v to run 4.4ghz F@H stable 24/7.

Just like any chip you won't know till you get it in the board. I have a 9370 I just picked up and had 4.8 at 1.428v prime stable for 30 minutes , 4.9 was 1.476 but I still haven't managed 5.0. Been up to 1.55v but time has been limited so I'm still not finished. Some other things I'd like to try before pumping more juice into it.Quote:

It's a bit cooler here today maybe 18c. As for the 8 Ghz stuff i'll leave that up to you flanK3r. I'm not setup for that and still haven't decided if I want to venture down that road!! I'm always looking to make it go fast but..... Not sure if I can manage all that Mad Scientist stuff. SSomeday I might venture into it but not in the near future. I don't even know where I could find the LN2 here in Canada and then there's the transportation laws. Classed as dangerous goods here. This would take some research on my part.Quote:

Im use for benchtable old and good one Asus Crosshair V Formula. This is really the solid board I think Asus make the best boards for AM3+. Cooling in all setups was AMD Allinone Cooler (Antec 920). Ambients between 20-22 C.

Yes, i was suprised from 9590, with better cooling it could be better! But I was shocked from 5090 MHz stability (30minutes). Never have before similar chip AMD/Intel

I've still been kicking around the 9370 to see what it's limits are. So far with my setup I can clock higher in benches with my 8350, it'll take a ton of volts to do it but the 9370 locks up when I put the volts into so I think I'm reaching my thermal limit sooner with it.

no, I have not installed custom water loop. I have one older in the closet. But Im lazy building this PC :). Maybe with Steamroller FX. At benchtable, thats mean every time another CPU/MB Im use simply Gelid Tranquillo or Noctua NHD14 or AMD allinone liquid.
I guess this thread almost puts to rest the theory that all FX 8300s clock better than 8350s.
Maybe it's not like the 2500+ XP-M vs regular 2500+ of old because the default clocks on the 8300 are so much lower than the 8350's.
I have done a bit of a comparison myself between my 8350 and my 9370. The biggest difference I found was the voltage needed for similar clocks. I have a better cooling solution than FlanK3r at the moment so I pushed the voltages a bit higher. This is only a chart no fancy screen shots or anything like that. It can all be verified if you check my HWBot profile. I'm not making any of this up.
My conclusion is that the 9370 is a tigher chip and heats up really quickly as compared to the 8350. All in all performance is very similar and only restricted by the cooling. Also I have had this 8350 for months and did the majority of my learning FX on that chip. So there may be room for improvement on the 9370 with some more time but not much.

Nice. Hm, what could be do better cooling at my side? 9590 was beast... 1.55V 5800+ MHz but I cant hard benchmarks run over 5350 MHz much, because voltage/temps ...
i suspect the extra heat being from the nb. however it is nice to see nb gain so much. we can attribute this to better silicon. 9370 seems a bit unstable at those lower volts of 1.62, maybe 1.7 for max clock stability.Quote:

While I'm sure the 9590 should clock a little better, the price drops and included AIO cooler are making the 9370 look VERY tempting @ $290... :cool:

Just checked the UPS tracking number, and my 9370 will be here tomorrow... (Sorry Ivan, I may get the jump on you as far as testing goes. :rolleyes:)
I think I'm going to put it on the ASRock EX9 board with my ghetto cooling first before I move it to the main rig.
It's really old gear consisting of a Swiftech XT waterblock and a Chevette heatercore for the rad, but it should still be better than the AIO water cooler that comes with the kit... ;)
The EX9 is actually starting to grow on me a little, bios 1.40 opened that board up quite a bit! I'm getting a feel for it, and while doesn't feel as reliable as the CH5F in the main rig it's done pretty well in the testing of my weakest 8350... After a lot of work I've actually gotten better P95 stable clocks on the EX9 (~+75Mhz@ 40 mins P95 Blend)... :p:

there are no customs fees when bought from inside europe, and you only pay vat once
Believe me, that is not the case in practice here on my island :) You can get away from the double VAT, if you get the store to ship the product VAT free, and its then paid at the post/customs office. I do like it so I have been nice to it so far trying to keep the voltage down you know. It does react well to "good" cooling so that helps keep the volts down a bit.
Im back with FX...New one 9590 chip! Batch 1327PGS. Testing later in next week. Im looking forward for max Cinebench. better than last ES or not?:)

It's great to read this even if only on 4 hours sleep. Nice work as always Flank3r. Looking forward to the FX-9590 benches. Are you interested in looking at power at say 5GHz vs. Original 8150?

I can do few test, but my GPU is not the powerfull (highend). My best GPUs are HD 7870 and R9 270x :)
