Holy $hee$u$!
Any details?
shoggy is that VFD?
or standard LCD?
Any chance for a full color LCD version?
You guys would be a first if you can put like a logitech G19 type screen on it.
Sweet, where do I sign up?
Things i'd be interested to find out:
1) How many channels/max power per chan/max total output, analog or pwm regulation used
2) If it's possible to buy without that thing like remote control
3) If there will be also black front plate
Support for dallas one-wire probes on this one? ;) :D
Pwm?
buccaneer: I for one would love seing one or two PWM channels added AND still some analogue ones. (To regulate two of new PWM MCP35X pumps from aquaero directly & analogue for analog 3pin fans that have extra noise if regulated via pwm)
nope, cause it's and aquaero :surf:
I am more interested in the keyboard :p:
It it were backlit it could very well be the best HTPC keyboard.
Wow, well.... I guess I'm not ordering the standard aq for christmas. ETA/SPECS? Actually specs and msrp will determine whether I should wait for this.
Excited about specs :)
Wow...looking good, but yeah this is going to be expensive
We will not release any further details before the official release which will be this winter. For the price: I think it will be cheaper than most of you are thinking.
But.. It IS winter :)
better be atleast 30w per channel! :) Hella sexy though!
Nahhh, I think a computer case in lingerie looks strange :D
I agree...
http://www.gearlog.com/images/8963.gif
I noticed two arrows on LCD on that pic. It is possible that new aquaero will feature a touch screen. ;)
@Shoggy
can you reveal whether there will be an even cheaper version of a new device, i.e. without display? (like Aquaero LT version)
Shoggy: what do you think of these few quick, ugly & rough photochops?

They illustrate a bit my love of old, aquaero4 design.
Imho it won't hurt to make both sides simmetrical for better looks, be it rectangular or round. Or even old small buttons on side.
there is rain after snow outside my window, means that winter is over :) where is specs?
Vetalar: Shoggy already answered. Specs only when release sometime in winter. If he could he probably had answered already. Keeping asking for them imho is similar as to ask when something will be released. "When it's done". I hope to not read similar questions in 50 different posts covering 3 or more pages if official answer from Shoggy is already given to first ones.
I've bought some sexy zebra-stripe stockings for my Lian Li as a Christmas present, nothing strange about that :p:
Man that underwear is really tasteless, I only put Versace on my laptop :D It looks like a granny bra?
And the laptop itself looks like an old Clevo... Gross :p:
I really do like the design of the old Aquaero but maybe that's just what I'm used to. Swear that looks like it has an integrated webcam lol. I am assuming it is the infrared receiver for the remote though :)
Omg, I have 2 aquaero 4.0 with power booster that i havent had time to install yet, and now this!
I "hope" that these sucks
So I don't feel the urge to get the new models :D
Shoggy: This winter? Is that before new year or this "whole" winter?
And will the old flow sensors work or will you be launching a new series of those also?
Anyone else notice the "TV" button and the "Mute" button? I wonder if the display will be video capable.
WOW! Innovation at its best :) This is what I like business companies to do :D Keep it up!
Looks very interesting, if it is half as good as my Aquaero it will be a winner. I have become so spoiled by my LCD Aquaero that I take it for granted.
Please tell me there will be a black faceplate option?
Regarding faceplate color. I've already written it before, but can repeat. Shoggy: seeing that most top full towers cases these days are black (and those are ones that mostly get LC builds based on) imho it makes sense to make black face plate _default_. Of course, you can earn more by having majority to shell out for extra face plates, but that doesn't sound exactly right from consumer viewpoint. :/
I already knew that there will be many questions but as said I can not provide any further details. Official release will be this winter 2010/2011. The hardware development has finished some time ago so there will be no more changes. At the moment we are programming the first final firmware and software, writing documents and manuals etc.
If you already own an aquaero or had plans to buy one I think you will find the new one affordable. Of course the hardware and controlling possibilities are improved - no comparison to the old aquaero.
WOW!!! Sweet....
May I suggest integration with third party monitoring software such as Everest to display full system stats from coolant to chips' built-in thermal diodes.
Phil
I was going to buy an Aquaero and then you show this so I MUST WAIT.
I think the design seems so cool and the black version will look beautiful. with all the black buttons. The controller will be a nice accesory for sure.
I like it :) hope it hás more watts per channel and more good news ;)
Pitty. That probably means no more design changes, and my design suggestions/photochop mockups go down the drain :(. Of course, i most probably will get new aquaero because most probably it will have better specs, but nevertheless i'll miss a bit at looks section :(
Only hope that with black faceplate it hopefully will look better, with that asymmetrical shaped lcd+buttons part blending with it.
This looks amazing. Can't wait. Keep us posted!
Nice!
If you need any beta testers...I think I know someone with a few fans lying around...:D
Looks like a fun gadget..:)
While I hope that it is implemented, I doubt it.
The whole thing with the Aquaero (the old one atleast) was that it was failsafe, and can run without your OS. So if your computer hangs or w/e the monitoring never failed.
BUT, it would be nice to be able to have the option at least. And you could have it displayed and give warnings from these values also. Who knows, maybe your block got lose or something. I hope that these values could be read. And who knows, maybe Aquasuite would be able to read these values like everest and implemented that way.
That would be really nice :)
And shoggy, how long are you planing on making us wait!?!
Is it coming out in a black version?
Hopefully not so long... (I know that this was very helpful answer :D)Quote:
And shoggy, how long are you planing on making us wait!?!
A black faceplate is also available.Quote:
Is it coming out in a black version?
Well, you said winter... That gives you until 23:21 (UTC) on the 20th or March to do so... after that it will be too late :p:
What about white to keep up with the times? (rumour says white is the new black :) )
Either way looking forward to the release... Unlike other components every Aquaero I've purchased has made it through many builds :)
I wonder if your suppliers would be keen to leak information as Apple's suppliers do :p:
Hehe, they won't since they do not know anything more than you. We have not given away any information so far.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Aquaero still runs off a custom software in the background to monitor and control a watercooling system. All it needs to do now is to poll data from Everest, etc, to deliver the extra information. I doubt this will compromise stability.
It can be very handy to display CPU/GPU temp, clock speeds, core voltages in real time especially when running games to find how the PC responses under load in real time.
Phil
Thats true, but you only configure through Aquasuite. And from what I understand you don't even need the program when the Aquaero have been configured. Again, not 100% sure about this.
Still, I also hope that they can give the option to at least monitor these temperatures from the OS.
I hope that everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
But you know what would make it even better? If shoggy would be in the sharing mode! :D
Good to know.
BTW, Shoggy: have you considered making poll as to what color faceplate most users would need/prefer (for this, and other AC products aswell)? If it's 2/3 in favor of black (as i'm guessing) - maybe it's worth to put it as default to save that much users extra spending? Of course, those who need it, will buy nevertheless, and you might earn a bit less on such extra "option" sales, but it at the same time will make main product, aquaero itself, more competitive with possibly being sold at higher volumes, making it up to lost optional faceplate sales imho. After all, clearly aquaero by itself is cheaper/more competitive price-wise then cost of aquaero+faceplate. :)
I recall also some of AC products lacking black faceplate option - i wonder if you haven't lost in some cases few potential buyers because of that for those particular few products?
P.S.
Seeing recent thread about Swiftech 6900 full cover block's sticker design made me think .. - what do you say about idea of making/selling colored stickers for faceplates in some different colors/patterns for greater choice to modders to match color of their builds/cases? Eg. red, yellow, clear white, green, carbon fiber pattern. It should be cheaper then making yet another faceplate and printing should allow great diversity in looks.
No idea what you guys are talking about the software here. It seems that some are talk at cross-purposes. The aquaero 3.07 and 4.00 do not need any software in the background to work. It is a completely independent device with its own CPU and operating system. The aquasuite is only an extended graphical user interface with some additions like logging or diagrams etc.
@MrToad: for example -> make a display - very useful information for the supplier since they still have no idea what it is good for :D Same with almost all other parts especially since the functions are software related so the naked hardware will not tell you much about its features.
New Hardware is good ,but what about new Software. Will Aquasuite be just slightly updated to support "Aquaero 5.0", or we can expect a totally different software suite to work with the new device?
I think what it's been discussed (which I admit is something that did cross my mind as useful as well) is adding the ability of reading hardware temps (like the thermistors included in CPUs, GPUs, MBs etc. etc.) from within the Aquasuite software, or failing to do that to interact with software like Everest to obtain those readings (very long and convoluted IMHO, you can use the same APIs directly in Aquasuite) and integrating them in your software. Don't know if this is a bit clearer.
Well, in the case of the display yeah, a display is a display. In fact having so many established manufacturers of displays with well documented control chips integrated as "standard" SKUs I'd be surprised if you ordered tailor made ones...
However, you'd be surprised what you can reverse engineer from an assembled PCB ;) Unless you control everything from design to distribution, including assembly and packaging, you're vulnerable ;)
Right, now off to cover up another alien landing... *cough* *cough* all this Morley is going to kill me one day :p: :p:
SpuTnicK: i see nothing wrong with good old aquasuite. I actually prefer it as it is to those of competitors. "Don't fix what's not broken" - stable, relatively bug free software is one of main good points about aquaero in my eyes, and i'd hate to loose it just to have new version with arguably if necessary new features or blinged up looks and very probably new bugs. :/
@MrToad: Well, it IS a custom made display since we had some specific requirements :D
@churchy
I an not saying the current version of Aquasuite is bad. Just wondering if with new hardware there might be new software released too, especially if to consider what functionality the new Aquaero can bring judging from that remote control pictured.
I cannot imagine myself using that remote control (after all, i don't need nob to turn down fans nor remotely nor on case itself, i need aquaero exactly to do that automatically depending on load), and if it's addition will increase aquaero's price 1.5x times, i'd wish for option to buy aquaero without it. I still haven't bought "smart controller", as my build haven't progressed yet to that stage, but so far from all the threads/posts/comments i read about different alternative controllers of this type, aquaero stands above rest exactly with stable software, which i don't want to loose by replacing with redundant/unused features. More powerful old aquaero (well, maybe now with few added pwm channels for pwm fans and new pwm pumps) = would be ideal fan & pump controller in my eyes, as it mostly lost to alternatives in max load it can handle. I would love to be able to control two pumps (even more powerful ones like D5) per loop and big pile of fans from single aquaero. It's hard to do that with old one due lack of power. Of course one can make poweramps or buy such made by AC aswell for use with aquaero and at least be able to handle two DDCs, but IIRC most of such dropped max voltage (and so do pump performance) by 10%.
the "new" aquaero teaser has disappeared from aquacomputer's website! Hope this doesn't mean it's being delayed!
I think Shoggy's timing of this was way off. Here in the states he just got a new retailer and offered the old. Now a big change . I think this will turn new customers off big time. He hurt sales for his new retailer. now they will be stuck with stock.
As for different color face plates It will not matter since i have had a problem getting them to match any way. just paint them or have them anodized yourself.
I like AC's products But i think this hurt them some what. I am just wondering if I can run both depending whats offered on the new one.
@sunnyville: that banner contained a Santa Claus with wishes for Christmas and a new year - of course we had to remove it :p:
@slotrod: I have a new retailer there? That brings me directly to the question why this is the first time that I hear about this...
Ok how long has sidewinder been carrying your stuff. I realy dont think that long. If im wrong Im sorry but I still think you should have waited to announce this.
In stead of defense how about some offense. Tell us why we should be excited and will want to have this. You know i support your products and have here and other forums.
We are doing business with Sidewinder since a few years now - nothing new here. The last delivery of aquaeros is also a bit older so I don't think that this is a real disadvantage for them.
It was not my decision to release this teaser photo nor to hold back any information about the new device. I also have to deal with it. I really would like to tell you more but I can not.
OMG  Please tell me there a black bezel for it.
Yes, black will be available.
Shoggy: please add this answer and about release due sometime in winter to first post and that no extra nfo until release. All of these been asked/answered already many times, people just don't read.
Short info: the last aquaero 4.00 has been sold yesterday ;)
The end of an era... Is quite amazing how much "juice" you managed to squeeze from that design...
In one of my builds is driving a DDC3.25, 10 fans and two flow meters. And the Aquasuite has come a long way too...
Looking forward to a new and improved iteration :D are you taking pre-orders yet? ;)
MrToad: a lot from that design - yes, but once you want to go above that - limits shown through with having to use poweramps with lesser max voltage and i sincerely wish for new aquaero to be much more powerful (to be able to drive dual pumps/or pumps like D5 too, and native 4-pin PWM support aswell, now when PWM pumps are released and native PWM fans are not that uncommon)
All I can say is that we'll have to wait and see... For more powerful pumps AC has the Poweradjust, which is a relatively new product...
If you add too many features to the new Aquaero you make other products from the same "ecosystem" prematurely obsolete and you drive the price of the unit up, where giving it less features and adding modules like the Poweradjust for people with higher or more specific needs keeps it "affordable for the masses" yet capable enough...
I'm just making an educated guess tho, I really have no clue what direction AC is going to take with this product...
IF i could connect Poweradjust-s to aquaero for them to work well together for managing one loop, then maybe. But IIRC Shoggy on my question on possibility of such replied that they act as separate devices with separate tabs in aquasuite, and interconnection via aquabus was not possible due limited flash memory size for firmware or something like that. But if those all act as separate devices - can i reuse data of flowmeter and thermal probes in all of them for smart regulation? Somehow doubt it, and duplicating all that monitoring hardware for aquaero and poweradjusts if it's for managing same single loop .. seems a bit not smart. Hence my wish for more power from aquaero or at least way to expand it's output by some modules (and preferably in a way that wouldn't limit max voltage, like poweramps for aquaero do). Pitty that community was not involved in development of new aquaero. And hearing from Shoggy that hardware is already completed, if some feature or spec didn't made it in, probably we will have to do with whatever they thought/guessed we might need. I can only hope that it will handle more power and have pwm outputs aswell. I'm not sold on unnecessary remote control which probably will add 25-50eur to product price.
I can understand wish for Aquacomputer to push their other products by incorporating their support, but imho aquaero is sold in way greater numbers then those poweradjusts/aquastream pumps/etc, so why not making it actually usuable/fit enough for common configurations of LC hardware that many people use? Or at very least - extendable by using extras made by aquacomputer for such combination to be possible? That should result in greatily risen number of aquaero units sold with more then offsetting profits lost by not selling those rarely bought anyway extras. And as for unneccessary/rarely asked for extra features incorporated in base product. - They might look good on paper/pics, but Will make price go up, and Will limit numbers unit gets sold.
Oh, and more on getting involved community in development process - i (and probably am not alone at that) just LOVE all cases when some LC vendor makes new product in public way here in this forum and incorporates useful suggestions in their designs (EK with several products, Boxgods with new DD res line, Iandh, Gabe from swiftech and alike). Makes liking of product/company much more then cases where we have to deal/use with whatever they make single sidedly deciding by their engineers/market researchers what They think we want to buy, sometimes deciding/choosing wrong.
@Shoggy: no news? :)
Hi Shoggy
Can you provide a few more fotos of the prototype you already showed? What I see is the PCB (printed circuit board) directly behind the faceplate (Blende, German) is almost level (same height) with the faceplate. This means that mods for Lian-Li are more difficult. The Lian-Li faceplates have a small lip that curve back into the computer for a cleaner look. If the PCB is the same size as the faceplate, the Lian-Li faceplate may not fit over the front.
example showing the lip on the top, forget the front :)
http://www.lian-li.com/v2/tw/product/BZ-501-b.jpg
Can you post any more photos to see that PCB better or comment on this?
I also agree with someone else who suggested changing the big black buttons...but I can mod that myself in you dont' change the design :)
@ON2H20:
Don't worry about Lian-Li fitting, it's the other way around.
The width of the front bezel opening is slightly over-dimensioned (to allow for the ODD "flap" covers to fit) where the width of the 5.25" bay itself is standard size.
So when you fit a 5.25" device what you get is a couple of mm gap each side of the bezel.
My apologies for the misunderstanding.
However, I've owned 10 Lian-Li cases since 1999 (including a lovely PC-343B) and I never had height issues with the 5.25" fascias and the bay covers. Sometimes it has been a bit of a tight fit, but not to the point of requiring any further modding.
In my latest build I have an Aquaero 4.00 (whose PCB is also in line with the bezel) on a Lian-Li PC-B10 and I had no height issues either.
A couple of builds ago, on a PC-V2010 I had another Aquaero 4.00 which fitted just fine.
I am not saying this won't fit in a 5.25" bay. I said a Lian-Li specific cover might not fit the new Aquaero if the front PCB is too tall top to bottom. Maybe you have not taken apart an Aquaero v4. The LCD PCB which is in front is several millimeters smaller on the top and bottom than the main PCB where the buttons are. That is why a Lian-Li faceplate will fit over the top.
I have included a photo of the PCBs of the older version. It's not the best picture but shows an Aquaero where I made an OLED for it (don't mind the soldering). There is ~2mm height difference where the red lines are. The display is ~4 mm smaller in height than the main Aquaero PCB behind it.
You can see the overhang/lip in the picture where I'm holding a black faceplate for an Aquaero...made from a Lian-Li faceplate. If the front PCB is too large, it won't fit.
I appreciate input but you have completely mis-understood 2x. Maybe it is clear now.
If you don't know the dimensions of the front PCB of the new Aquaero, you can't answer my question.
A Lian Li bezel will not work here like it did with the old aquaero.
I know what you mean since I also have an aquaero with the Lian Li cover ;)
The PCB behind it has exactly the same dimensions like the cover. It also can not be modified due to technical reasons.
Yes, I did that together with a locksmith. That was before I started to work for AC. Now I could do that also here. We have more than enough machines for things like that ;)
I dont think his post was patronizing or condescending, however I do think yours was, especially with the having "10 since 1999" knowitall bs...and he was right, you obviously didnt know what he was talking about, even after explaining 2x... would annoy anyone.
Anyway, nice to see company reps responding who do know wtf they are talking about, makes it more likely I will buy this product when it's released.
any update on this? any ETA this gonna release?
