Experiencing the Giga 890FXA-UD5 + 1055T on air

Back to my favorite MB
Lots of AMD WRs were made with the UD5 series:up:
As AMD Fanatics, we really can’t miss this one, can we !
The efficiency was pretty impressive & I had no difficulty with the F1 bios

AWESOME mobo! I love the layout.

The dual floppy confuses me, but it's still awesome regardless.

cool MAD! U tested Crosshair IV and this new UD5, which board is better for aircooling, max stable OC and better performance example in superpi, cinebench?

The temp. is held pretty well without a strong HS fan needed
Not bad for a HS @ this price

Hmm...despite of Ram OC, both are pretty much the same
I'm sure both factories are working hard on the bios enhancement

I just got one of these boards and i have a couple of questions (new to overclocking AMD's, was a intel guy but this 1090t won me over)

so question, whats the max temps for this chip?

whats this whole thing about northbridge mhz thing cuz when i set it higher my system is unstable, so what do i need to increase (volts) to make it stable?

also, to overclock with this board what are the things i need to overvolt/overclock to make it stable other than the CPU?

btw should i overclock with FSB or the unlocked multi?

Hey gooface, good to have you joined the AMD family

Dun complicate yourself too much on this. My advice is to 1st try 4GHz 20x 200 FSB @ 1.312v-1.328v with 1600 C7/C6 & CPU NB/HTT @ 2800-3000

Try the bios settings below & move on pushing :-

CPU Vcore: 1.312v-1.328v
Ram volt.: depends on kind of rams being used, but 1.65v will usually do 1600 C7/C8
CPU NB: 2800-3000 @ around 1.4v-1.45v
NB/HTT/PLL: leave the volt. to auto/normal is fine
Temp. around 20 something should be fine

Have fun with the UD5 & 1090T.....good luck !;)

thanks, the only problem i got is that the chip now running at these settings is that it runs WAY too hot! its about 60C under load. what am i doing wrong? i got a Eclipse CPU Cooler from cooler master with Arctic Silver 5, i dont know if its good enough for this CPU or if something is wrong....

judging by the specs then fan doesn't have high enough cfm. 39.8, though that's a lot for a tiny 60mm blower type fan.
most coolers here used are 50 cfm on up

I've got a copper T.R.U.E with 110 cfm fans and some TX3 coming today lol

so i need a better CPU fan then? cuz these temps are dangerous right?

ZALMAN CNPS9900 NT $55
ZALMAN CNPS9900 LED $53

should i get one of these?

id go for xigmatek s1284 & slap a 100+ cfm fan on it (should have pwm control from bios to keep it undervolted when temps are low)

Coolermaster Hyper 212 plus $26

Scythe ULTRA KAZE good with the Cooler Master Hyper 212 plus?

should be good, i think the xigmatek heatpipes are a little closer together on the base resulting in a little more contact with ihs, but other than that they are pretty similar

Get the Xigmatek 1284EE. Its better than the Hyper212.

The Ultra Kaze should work, but it will be loud.

well is there a huge difference in the 2 for the $10 difference? if that fan is really loud what fan should i get then that has about the same power?

the ultra kaze is loud on full power but should undervolt really good, when i had mine on cpu i had it set to run just like 800-1000 rpm when cpu is idle which is pretty quiet.. there should be bios settings for cpu fan to adjust its rpm vs cpu temp

diamont: did u tried how about temps in load with 2000rpm and 3000rpm?

ok, so the question is, is the XIGMATEK HDT-S1284EE worth $10 more than the 212 plus?

i think its worth it for 1090t

flank3r, not sure, but when i had it set up it was something like 1000rpm until it gets to like 38c then start ramping up. it would hold 4ghz 1.47v at like i think around 48c with around 2200rpm :shrug: it would only get to 3k rpm over like 53c which didnt happen under 1.5v... not sure if thats all accurate but its pretty close. 1.55v @ 3k rpm was about the max i could do, it would top out around 55-57c on the cores

I'd say so.

I just purchased the UD5 from newegg. I had a question for people who own this board. Does the NB run warm and should I replace the TIM? Or is it ok with the stock stuff? Thanks.

got the fan and the heatsink and got this overclock (in my sig) and loving it!!
F2 BIOS is out BTW

ok people i have a problem here, my chip likes to only run at 800mhz alot of the time and when im in a game for instance it stays at that speed, and to make it run at 4.1ghz i have to restart my pc, am I the only one with this issue, i have the latest bios.... and this is starting to get anoying...

its cool & quiet kicking in. it seems to be the biggest issue so far with most boards/bios.. even w/ c&q, turbo, c1e, etc. all disabled in bios, some boards are still activating the lower p-states. someone may have a work around for you but if not most likely will have to wait for a proper bios

Did you turn the CPB on in bios ? If so, you wouldn't have any problem with the multi.

The F2 bios surely needs to be further enhanced, especially on the power saving features.

Hope giga will have someone to help ppl out in the forum

Man...dying to get this board but still not available here....

This board has been great so far. Took my 1055t to 4 ghz without any issues at all. One issue I dont like though is the slow boot up times with AHCI or RAID mode enabled. I wish there is a fix.

big question, when i enabled the one performance boost thing i now get BSOD's left and right and i am trying to get stable but im sorta stable (not sure for 8 hours) and i have another question as well.

cuz i have F2 anyone else noticing the HUGE undervolt, me for instance i have to set it at 1.66v to achieve 1.55v, and every once and awhile it runs at 1.66v. so am I alone here, or should i go back to F1?

Anyone have more bench's with this mobo? i'm quiting from i7 and x58 platform to get some 1055T and 1090T and this mobo Tomorrow, i apreciate more SS and configs please guys :).
