Uh, if you were already on the mailing list you'd be getting product news anyway. You really took the time to get mad over this? Impressive.

And why did this email end up on this forum?
Seems like a great advertising technique to me.

Oh so the OP is a paid plant because he posted about a product WE ALREADY KNEW ABOUT. XFX is very cunning. I'm glad the conspiracy has been brought to light. How dare a company fake a robbery so that it could send e-mail to the people on its mailing list THEN make fake posts about it on a site that had already discussed the product.
-
No idea why a new post came up
-
persecution by law huh.
like when the mob comes at you with clubs and torches kind of persecution?
-
Who cares.. XFX are little girls screaming for their lollipop.

wtf? what if I came in your house and stole your computer then sold it online. Would you be the little girl?
-
funny how that ebay user has a rating of zero and has been a member of ebay for 2 days.
btw, at the bottom of the pic, what does it say "This is an XFX Gamertainment Campaign. Please refer here for more information". it's like this was purposely done. anyone else see this?

And now you are taking it out of proportion. I never said OP is a plant, and I'm not making a conspiracy out of it.
We knew about the product, but why not hype it up even more? A good advertising strategy, if you ask me.
-
Imagine being in this type of product marketing these days? The power of the forums and internet communication pretty much shred the effectiveness of the old ways of marketing to enthusiasts. It's very awesome because the products that are good actually rise to the top from the unbiased reviews in public forums. In this age performance dictates the winners, not ad campaigns. I'm not surprised if they are frustrated enough to be trying tactics like this.
I kinda wish all these front end brands would retire or merge. It's like 10 of the same cards with 10 different logos. Same is true with all of these consumer products basically.

You agreeded with the guy complaining that XFX sent "spam" to people on its mailing list. My point is: Why on earth would someone complain that a company is sending e-mails to a mailing list that users signed up for?
If you agree that this is a good marketing strategy, why do you "totally agree" with the guy who said it was "FAIL". Maybe you see my confusion?

let me stop you right there
Marketing folks know this, take msi and gigabyte with the latest 5870s get the big guns blazing 1500mhz core and everyone will jump aboard. Then most retails fail.
-
This is sensasionalist marketing. I would never post such a PR MOVE in news, it's merely a wampateers subject

Sure, but all of the big brands do the some kind of OC or custom versions, voltage control software, free game attached, yada yada. People base their opinion of the product on the benchmarks that come out for the reference models the day the NDA is lifted. And in the big picture how many OC versions do you think get sold vs. standard 5870?

seems someone found out about the ebay link its now been removed

Although the email is just marketing, the English fail is almost expected these days, given what passes for grammar on web sites, advertising, etc.

1. Gamertainment
An advertising campaign cleverly disguised within a classic gaming plot scenario. Advertising that entertains as if the viewer is in middle of an actual game."
...
-
-
I reported it to ebay as a fraudulent listing with no intent to sell.
Do the same.
-
At least Apple did it with some style.
-
Ha ha, just noticed it in trash (spam filter working).
Thief would have taken 2 (#69). Pro would have taken a pallet.
-
I heard they used the XFX 5970 BE Limited to assassinate the Polish president

Oops. No offense to the Polish members here. (There are assassinations of presidents in US too, Poland was just in the news recently so I say that.). Sorry for bad taste joke - I was just adding to the marketed mystique surrounding the "XFX 5970 BE" that has been stolen.

Just that this whole XFX Black Edition thing is such a crockpot of rumor and conspiracy, and it's ironic to link it to something else with a lot of drama about it.
Like I said, I hope no one takes any offense, I have a few Polish friends myself and know first hand how sad the situation is for them.
But, they say you either laugh or cry, and I've always felt that laughter is the best option.

This is what I was getting out of it, nothing more.
It's not mocking the Polish President, rather mocking the hype of this stupid marketing campaign.
-
The fact that this made the Newsreel on most Tech forums means we are already too late and that this silly campaign is actually working. Now that's irony...
...You got me good XFX "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice... "

I'm going to be making some fake replies to superfaketifies your fake thread.

Really really bad taste honestly. The timing is the biggest problem and even without that, its bad taste. The polish president died a week and a half ago. Compared to American presidents that have died half a century ago.
If Obama died yesterday and you made the same joke, you would get a crap storm that might get you banned.
