Anyone have any news about the date for the release of the new Watercool MO-RA 3??
I was going to buy a MO-RA 2 but with the imminent release of the new version i decide to wait a little bit more :D
The only news i found where in the watercool forum but i dont understand german very well
I read the forums, but i was wondering if anyone here on XS knows something that is not post there ;)
Watercool never replies to my emails, not even a "go F*** yourself American scum"... nothing. :(

What's new:
- higher fin spacing
- 4 parallel tubes instead of 3, should increase flow noticeably
- it looks like the radiator is deeper, i.e. surface area might even increase
- available in black, white and as usual, stainless steel; different parts can be combined
- fans can now be mounted on both sides on the Pro version (one side only for LT), mounts for 9x120 and 4x140 are out now
- a 9x140mm version will follow!
- an optional fan controller will be available, connect 9 fans and adjust the voltage in 1.0V steps, or just use it to "bundle" all fans into one cable
All the pictures shown are the Pro version!

one Question guys, is it copper?
The tubing is copper, the fins are aluminum. But the water never touches the fins so that's not a problem. That thing would be incredibly heavy if the fins would also be made from copper and it wouldn't be all that much better. Just look at how heavy and expensive the TRUE copper is and how small its advantage over the normal TRUE is.
The only question that remains, when will be available here? :p

by looking at the photo of the white one, it looks like not all the fans will be secured on all four corners. Would this increase noise/vibration? :shrug:

OK, so let me see if I got this right?
MO-RA2 = 3 tubes X 20 passes = 57, 180° elbows. . .MO-RA3 = 4 tubes X 18 passes = 68, 180° elbows. . .and both still have round tubes. . .yeah, sounds better. :rolleyes:
You can wrap crap in any sausage casing you want and call it it a sausage but, it's still a crap sausage. This is more an aesthetics upgrade than anything else.
FWIW, 4 parallel tubes with 18 passes is significantly less restrictive than 3 parallel tubes with 20 passes :shrug:
I do agree this is should mostly be an aesthetic upgrade though....looks like they finally have an appropriate housing/mounting now. Before it was too big to be used on all by a few builds (internally or mounted onto a case) and didn't have enough housing options to be its own external unit--now it has an appropriate housing :)
I don't think it'll go down by a whole lot but, I've been wrong before. From the thickness of the unit, I'd guess the tube diameter is bigger as well meaning thermal transfer could suffer a bit. I'd really like a good look at this with it's clothes off. :hehe:Quote:

Sorry for bumping this old thread, I was hoping someone could share their experience with MO-RA 3 rad since they hit the shelves in the meantime? :) How well does it stand up against MagiCool Xtreme Nova?
I´ve tested the Mora 2 / 3 Pro with 9 and 18 Fans (i7 4Ghz & 2xGTX 480) and the Phobya 1080 (= 98% same as the big Magicool Rad) I´m waiting for the 9x140mm Pro Version to include in the test, hoping this will be until end of October. With Lowspeed Fans (600 RPM) the Mora 3 is about ~2° better than the older Mora 2 which performs very similar to the big Phobya/Magicool.
Watercool.de is moving to a new building atm, so there are delays in releasing the rads. All new Mora 3 rads are very rare here in germany since releasing the first versions !

I've got my mora3 4x180 several weeks ago, just can't get to start installing it finally. Lack of time...
Looks great. Have you tried mounting it on case? :D :p: So there is no much difference with newer mo-ra 3? It would be more interesting to put Mora against two 3x120 rads, to be a bit more of an even fight. Especially when i've seen it claimed several times that two tripples should outperform while being less resistive.
I am working on getting some Mora's and Nova's, as I want to know what their capabilities are.

The Mora 3 is max. 3-4° better than the older Mora 2, depending on fanspeed. Thats my conclusion after testing with the GTX480 SLI Setup, and the smaller CPU Only Setup before.
I´ve tested with 9 and 18 fans, 550, 800, 1200 RPM, Noiseblocker PL2
There is a review which came to result: Mora 3 is 7° better with lowspeed fans than Mora 2 - that´s a bit strange in my opinion, coz the newer one has same size, just a few more tubes and some internal changes.

The overall build quality and design from those chinarads a.k.a. Magicool / Phobya are not so good like the Mora´s, but hey, the performance is good and they are cheaper than the Mora´s

I have a 4x180 and loving it :)
With the SS AP181s running @ 7 volts is practically inaudible cooling a 920 OCd to 4 GHz and 2 5870s (FC)
I was going to post some info (temps, ambient delta, flow rates and stuff) but I decided to rig a MB block first, and that's kept me from finishing the build for a month.
Once I have a working wc-ed board and the system up and running I'll post some non-subjective data.
Currently working on the build based on mora3 readiator (at last!). Got all the components required, got the time, got no new ideas as to how in a better way to set up the system, today got some m4 screws - the last "addition" to the build.... So in 3-4 days I hope to finish it and will definitely post some pics then. ))
The loop will consist of 3x480s and i7 920@(at least) 4.2Ghz. The water will be pushed by 2xmcp655s pumps.

Ok, I got it set up and running. So, in short, here are the figures of the i7 920 @ 4322Mhz(1.3875v) and 3 x 480s stock clock with ek waterblocks on :
cpu idles at 43C, the graphic cards idle at 40C
During gaming (stalker cop benchmark and oblivion with 12xsli fsaa and 12xtrsaa) and vantage run at 1920x1080 at high settings, the cpu temps reach 73C, the max temp of graphic cards hit 63C.
The psu is about to jump out of the case at full load )
The temps are very dependant on the ambient temps... The idle temp for cpu may very well be 38C if I open the window for example. It is very hot in my room in winter...
I'll make a thread about my system with pics and all in details this weekend, I hope.

Yes, the temps are not what I expected. I think I'll need to check the thermal grease under the cpu waterblock - that's the only thing that remained unchanged for some long time.
I know of only two shops where one can the radiator - ppcs and the watercool.de. I just checked their site, btw, - doesn't look like they are out of service....

Pity they weren't put against 2* or 3* 3x120mm rads to see how much round tubes of MoRa-s really impact rad performance versus common rads and it's still upto guessing game with no direct comparison on same testbed. :(

@churchy: my goal and the wish of most users who were asking was, only to have monster rads in this review for comparison. i already have other tests with all sorts of "normal" rads released in several forums. this review is to show, how a high end sys with 2xgtx480 and oc i7 runs with those big radiators :) first i was thinking to include a quad radiator, just for little extra comparison, but the watertemp was over 50° celsius in summer...at it´s limit, so not what a watercooling sys. is "made for" ;)
bundymania: it's just that i heard many times - MoRa - round tubes - bad, 2*3x120 RX - same cooling but less resistive and more compact, and hoped to have that proved or disaproved with same test. I've never seen test among such combinations, at most - MoRa vs big single rads like 4x140/3x140/4x120, which is much further from apples to apples comparison, as rad areas differ too much, and MoRa has more then doubled rad area/fan count advantage. As this test has passed, we can only wait for another (probably by skinnee?).
On MoRa cons - more flow resistance (partially fixed with MoRa3), on pros - sleeker/better looking packaging vs separate rads of same section count interconnected, +if it's performance is close to three triple rads, then MoRa wins by pricing too. If MoRa cools just up to two triple rad level, then later imho is preferred choice, as cheaper (especially if you include lesser fan count/price), more compact and flexible mounting options and possibility to separate in loops.
Offtopic: Skinnee: out of curiosity, what do you use for yourself as your pc/rig? Or you use some gathered parts/leftovers from tests on some testbench case or even have that assembled on table? :)
And you could sometimes make some article with walktrough pics from lab/room, different testbeds, parts storage gathered by time and so on :)
I'm about to order a couple of 9x120's of these and see how it works out.
currently i'm running a 4x120 BlackIce GTX X480 with a single MCP655 pump. it's fine for the most part for temps... infact temps are just perfect for a 980X OC'd to 4.3ghz daily and a HD5970 OC'd to 950 core and 1253 mem. it's also running through a koolance full board block on an ASUS RE3.
the biggest thing i was shooting for was a quiter running OC'd system. if the MO-RA3 gives the same temps with quiet fan operation, that's all i need :up:.
granted, i will be keeping my 4x120... it'll come in handy if i end up going... a tad bit extreme.
EDIT: oh, system water idle temp is roughly 43-44*c during winter temps. summer is around 48-49*c, full load never goes higher than 52*c in any season.

The Lab and my office area... they're never tidy enough for photos, parts and tools strung about. It gets out of control quickly with 2 test benches, a radiator test fixture, separate pump test fixture and prep table. Its controlled chaos really. :D

coolhandluke41: depends on fans. And 180mm fan selection is even more scarce then 140/120. Even less chance for some of those very few to be exceptionally good. Remember Martin tests, where best 140mm fan was .. 120mm gentle typhoon with 120>140 adapter? :).

the finisher: Will San Ace stomp GT even performance/noise wise? And especially at acceptable noise level diapason? NOT just maximum air flow wise that fan can push or what it can push with noise no one wishes to tolerate it running at? Somehow i have my doubts in high-speed downvolted fans being quieter and pushing more air with their characteristic ticking at low speeds, their blade design should take a toll on pushed air flow at 900-1100 rpm range too.
Sure you can strap on a bunch of high CFM/RPM fans and shrouds for a bit better performance but you will missed the whole point about this RAD ,it's designed for very quite/slow moving fans...I would't use more than 1200rpm fans on them,so if you want to improve your delta add more of the same..more slow moving fans,otherwise the round tube dilemma will become a factorQuote:

I'm going to use 9 120mm Adda 98CFM fans with 120mm to 140mm adapters. I decided on the larger one since there was minimal price increase and a much larger surface area...plus I was planning to use ducts/adapters anyway.

Actually, I've changed my mind on the fans I will use....I'm gonna use 9x 120x38mm 117CFM San-Ace fans. The adaptor will be custom made from a sheet of wood with 120mm holes cut for each fan, and routed to larger openings on the radiator side.Quote:

miahallen: try to find somewhere what fan spacing 140mm mora3 has and use multiple mnpctech's 140mm templates. But even then .. i'd better wait for the real thing to arrive on hands then risk to botch expensive case when cutting it with "supposedly" right template dimensions.

Actually, I bought this for Water & Wood....but the next day I found out Swiftech would be sponsoring that build ;) So I had to find a new use for this one as it had already shipped :p:
Multiple common rads also might be more effective then single MoRa while having less flow resistance. After all, MoRa3 still uses round tubes and many 180 degrees waterpath bends.
