Exclusive pictures of XFX 5970 4GB EF 6 BE Limited (ships in a machine gun!)

We've just gotten hold of some pictures and information about XFX new HD 5970 monster. The card will be a limited Black Edition model and even though final specs aren’t revealed yet a document we've seen says it’s going to be the highest specced Black Edition card so far.

And did I say it will be shipping inside a machine gun? XFX is not very friendly with NVIDIA either it seems making some really bold statements about "who really has the big Guns".

Price is going to be around 1000 USD and other competitors are of course ASUS Ares and Sapphires 4GB card.

That is why I am happy to be in the processor biz. I have been traveling for months with a bag full of 12 core processors and nobody has ever batted an eye.

That thing would get me strip searched, and folks, that is not a pretty sight.

1000usd+ is insane and the 2g 5870 is rumored to be 525usd and is also insane :(

Hehe I'll blame that on my mediocre English ;)

Its a unique card/box for sure. Besides the EF6 feature I think ASUS has it nailed down coming to performance though, if we look at their custom PCB and cooler. But we'll have to wait and see.

Best GPU marketing ploy ever. If I had the money to drop on GPU's, I'd definitely by a few of these.

Screw using the case to rob a bank though, if I had a few of those I'd be holding up JF for that bag of his. :D

id think it would be cool if u could plug in the card into the gun, and it had a few batteries to spin the fan, which provided enough airflow to make the gun a real nerf gun.

I really wish the hardware industry would stop trying to link extreme hardware and weapons. Too many times I've heard silly stuff like "overclockers using extreme weapons to defeat benchmarks" and similar statements. They are chunks of plastic and metal not in any way shaped like a weapon and we don't need macho marketing in an already badly marketed hobby. The case for this card takes the cake though..

CEO: "We need an idea on how to creatively ship and sell these cards"
Stooge 1: "How about something about 4GB?"
CEO: "Nah, too obvious.. everyone else is going to do that"

it might, but evergreen performance doesn't scale that well with overclocking, and considering that this card is the same price as two gtx 480's... i just can't see the value. also, i don't think that power consumption is a real concern to someone looking at a $1000 graphics card.... to me this is just a gimmic, and i can't believe xfx passed nvidia's halo cards to produce this, i can't see how this makes good business sence. :shrug:
