MSI Lightning 5870 - BOW to the BEAST -

Hello all....Miss me?... :D

Problem is that I don't have THAT much time to bench lately but when I "steel" some time form work to do so, I bench.... :)

NOW...

Here we have a BEAST VGA called: "MSI Lightning 5870"

This one among with the MSI Lightning GTX275, is the MOST POWERFULL VGAs I have ever worked with... :)

Nuff said... :)

I don't know about the software - never use them - ... I only have cuted the blue wire... :)

I would say that I wish they don't make LN2 in Greece for the next 2-3 months, but the truth is I cannot imagine any better match for those Lightnings then you. Have fun my friend, I am sure you will give them hell :up:

I have been testing the lightning under ln2 for maybe 30 minutes or so ... and given that I'm not even reaching to the knees of Hipro, it seems that way beyond 1500 will be reality.

Great start with Lightning George! Those 05 / 06 runs are very hard with those clocks, but maybe not with that card :D

I could run 1000 core at 1.165V on stock air easy, but then it seems like temps were holding me back.

It's an overclockers version of the afterburner software. Tbh, I'll have a look to adjust the known .bat file ... almost same IC controller with I2C :D

A...the overclocker version I have been asking for months but I never got. How sweet :)

Still waiting for those 1.5 runs..its got to be capable. Patch over on OCN had a standard rev that matched the clocks you posted Hipro.. the lightning should be holding onto a lot more top-end speed...i would think.

vgpu = 1.55V; temp = -100°C

I was running 1475MHz GPU untill halfway GT2 when either OCP or OVP was kicking in. With a bit more time (and ln2), I'm sure 1475 will be Vantage stable ... and then it's only 25MHz away from 1500 :D.

Also did 105k 03 with safety clocks (1400/1250) ... ran GT4 without any LN2 left ... card warmed up to -80°C

Get some more LN2 Pieter! Do it fast!

That card seems to scale well, so 1500MHz is almost there. Too bad about the memory on that card.

Nice clocks and I like the insulation job too Hipro :up:

With the new 8.71.3 pre10.3 Vantage score should be way over 27k :eek:

I seem to be hitting OCP hard at 1475MHz. Working on the modification for that.

MSI says its a known problem but why are the sample cards working? I just want to know if I should return it. I know 4 other guys having the same issue. Also every card 5 out of 5 looks used, has finger prints boxes where all torn up and anti-static bags where obviously re-taped.

IDK about everyone else, but Hipro5 does all hardmods bro. ;) I think it's against his religion to use any softmods. :D
