Looks alright, except for the horrible SATA placement, WTF...
Still waiting to see Gigabyte's lineup, really want to see what their 890FX looks like.
Hmm... not exactly beautifull and again only 2 PCI-e 16X, wtf?
A big plus is the lack of heatpipes, this finally allows the use of chipset waterblocks again without having to change all the heatsinks at once.
Looking forward to how it does though.
Only two PCI3 x16 because its a G board with onboard video. Can't find it avalible around here. But then I'll be waiting on the FX board anyway.
sorry AMD boys, i fuuc*ked ed on poor AMD, there is no NDA signed... :D But i am waiting for Asus permission
when does the nda ends?
Well , Coolaler got preview pic too
http://www.coolaler.com/showthread.php?t=228926
I don't like the heatsink and the way-too-bright blue colour...
Other than that it looks pretty good, decent number of phases. Good PCI-E slot placement for CF as well.
And SATA placement, yeah, agreed... Well, at least there are two decently placed ports.
890GX northbridge is the same as the 785G (RS880), like 780G and 790GX.
The news here is the SB850 with native SATA 6Gbps.
Too bad it lacks USB 3.0 (Asus must be using a NEC controller).
http://www.coolaler.com.tw/image/asu...Pro_usb3_1.jpg
That EPS connector is really tall, I like it :)
I have no major complaints about USB3.0 (native or not).
AMD northbridges have some PCIe 2.0 lanes to spare. And even if the NEC controller was connected to a PCIe 1.0 lane, it would still be much much faster than USB 2.0.
AMD made the right decision to prioritize native SATA 6Gbps (which is kinda pointless now, but we'll have 6Gbps SSDs very soon).
I just wish they had both...
As seen on coolaler.com:
http://www.coolaler.com.tw/image/asu...Pro_usb3_5.jpg
I think the move to sata 6gbps was more than just a bigger #, i think AMD although i have not tested it yet moved to fix there raid performance which was lack luster on 790.
Still has USB 3 however, no clue if the chip supports native. whatever the case all the manufacturers are releasing boards with USB 3.0 native or not now.
Here's a cheap 790 board with USB3
http://chew.ln2cooling.com/790XT-UD4P/IMG_2177.JPG
I don't give a shoot with all the pictures in technicolor of these boards:D
Just test it how high the bus speed with non BE C3 will ya???:)
I would like to see pics from the Raid Rom Configuration....especially Write Cache Settings....
whats the gpu? 4200?
Well, for those wondering, an NDA is a Non Disclosure Agreement.
Does the 890 really have the HD4200 IGP still? No HD 5200? Gaaaay. Seriously though, why didn't they just release the 8xx chipsets with all new tech, GPU and all? Any optomisations to the NB that anyone heard of? I seriously doubt they left the NB untouched and just added SATAIII and USB3 when they can at the very least put the new GPU tech in there as well.
I think AMD is going to be at a dead end in the chipset department for a while now as there is nothing new on the upcoming horizon as thier CPU's have nothing new to take advantage of.
Anyone have an 890FX/X58 comparison chart handy? I would like to see the support directly compared to see whose got who by the balls here.
Wow...a NDA on a chipset. What's so damn important or secret that you can't post pictures or other things? Ridiculous.
Looks just like any of the other hundreds of motherboards out there.
I see sideport support on the box. Finally more MB's for the IGP with this chipset?
oh that cpu power plug is gonna get broken.. still turd brown pcb...
but  NEW TECH!!! :D
^ NDA??
*hides*
why do all these boards have integrated video? makes them feel cheap :(
nice board:)
Chew...I don't believe in NDAs. Never have, never will. If I legally purchase any hardware before a NDA date is expired from a retail store, I will put up whatever information I choose to.
amd chipsets probably still wont have good SSD performance....poopy brown pcb color...meah
hopefully it will be priced right....$99
XFX needs to make a AMD board to rival EVGA or a MSI big bang type mobo.
When will the NDA end?
check out the new memory holders
I'm still wondering when a decent amd board will come out thats red & black, ya know, like amd & ati's colors...
Like a socket AM3 classified? hmmm....
Yea here's to hoping asus does a nice 890chipset ROG board that's red/black. For amd/ati and not some random colors
Hope the NB don't get hot, if not the vga from the first slot will suffer a little bit, there is no distance between them :S
Also hope they include a better igp, 4200 was good but, I believe that for today that is old tech...
For the rest, seems nice if the price is under $100.
I doubt price will be sub $100 for new tech plus full ATX. you can gauge price easily just by pricing current full atx 790gx. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131366
Oops, was referring to the chipset manufacturation cost, not the board :P
Anyway, it will cost more than $120 bucks, but I don't believe that they are going to put it beyond $250, maybe a Premiun or Deluxe, normally the PRO isn't that good.
I wouldn't accept anything for testing if it was under NDA anyhow. So no loss for me.
Personally I'd love to see every hardware site on the NET refuse to sign NDAs. See what kind of response these companies would give when their products aren't getting any free media or publicity. No product hype of any kind.
If you love testing hardware and really want to know every aspect of it, signing NDA is more a sign of respect towards the person who provides you the hardware than a limitation.
NDA has nothing to do with elimination product hype ... in fact, the most hyping is done after the product has been released.
Sorry guys, I have to disagree. Does anyone remember the hype of Core 2 when someone let some benchmarks "slip" out? All of a sudden people who were considering buying Athlon 64s probably put off that purchasing decision to wait for Core 2. Hype is generated long before a product launches.
Since the Radeon HD 3450 became the Radeon HD 4200 IGP in the RS880 chipset, are we to assume that the RD890 chipsets will also have an IGP derived from the RV620 GPU or can we expect an RV710 based IGP?
Opps , looks like someone from China bleach the AMD NDA

I actually had a short conversation with Sham about this at CES.
I was informed although nothing is/was confirmed that for Evga to make a 790 chipset based board was pointless as it was to late in the game.
What that means is they could possibly make an 890 board although this is just speculation.
could be so sweet board :D
too bad, probably it won't happened :(
Thanks 4 the link
My fav. pic in all-

:up::up::up::up::up::up::up:
IGP HD4290 so its an overclocked 790gx basically?
whatever im running a 785g mobo and the IGP runs pretty well.
six core support yum!
what I really love about ASUS mobo is that "unlock" of "latent" (love that therm coined by ASUS) cores! Just one flip, and my "triple-five" turned in B55 :D and after usual overvolting @ 1.5V it was happily churning @ 4GHz ;)
As I getting older more and more I appreciate this "overclocking for dummies" approach from mobo vendors! I've got exhausted in youth days with nF4 LP, and now I need switches, dials and easy BIOS! ;)
Another testing leak from China
http://tech.mop.com/yj/zb/2010/0126/2040298380.shtml
It did included one game "Bio Hazard 5" and one 3DMark06
GIGABYTE 890GPA-UD3H First Look

No. By 'late in the game' he meant the whole AM2/2+/3 socket platform. Last time I spoke with Shamino, he said that maybe they will do something when a complete new architecture + compete new platform is launched. So, new socket, new CPUs, new architecture, etc.
It makes sense really, Sham would have to build an AM3 from scratch whereas all other manufacturers have years of experience with this socket/architecture.
yes, i dont seen 890FX boards , without MSI 890 GD70....Where is it?
What's the big deal with these 890 boards? Sata 3.0 and usb 3.0 but what about cpu/memory performance? What about 3D? Is it better than 790 chipset?
think some CPU performance and maybe some new for sixcorres?
So, no ACC then, from what the leaked slides indicate?
Yea, he and Joe told me the same thing at CES. No EVGA boards for current gen AMD. And honestly, I would be surprised to see them in the first batch of bulldozer. I think they will really need to have their arms twisted to consider making the investment. Budgets are tight.
EVGA executed well. rather than being middle of the road board designer with broad horizontal platform products, they focus on what they do best....Intel board
maybe XFX could jump in and do a motherboard, haha with double life warranty hehe :p
XFX always used referent boards, like Zotac. For example board on 790i or 680i
I wouldn't be surprised if 890gx boards start showing up for sale stateside before the end of the week. I remember that happened with the 790gx chipset getting out in retail before the NDA was lifted.
I'm curious about the Asus M4A89GTD Pro/USB3 and how many total usable SATA ports it has. The pictures show 6 internal ports and a separate esata port. I know an additional chipset is being used for the IDE port, I wonder if that also provides support for the esata port.
just bought a new CM 690 II case that I was getting ready to transplant my existing system into. Now I think I'll wait and buy one of these boards as soon as they're available.
ICEEXOL posted a link in another thread with like every possible angle of the asus 890gx board
http://www.teknofrikik.com/2010/02/a...gtd-prousb3/2/
no displayport on the asus board
Those are some better photos of the board. You can see they didn't do away with the heat pipe in those photos. It's still there but now only runs between the northbridge and MOSFETS. The raised CPU 8 pin connection does look like its an accident waiting to happen and why are they still bothering to put that black cap on four of the pins.
By Monday?:D
Asus M4A89GTD Pro....http://www.google.com/products?q=asu...N&hl=en&tab=wf
I'd buy that board in a heatbeat if those ram slots were red ^^^ (I'd pull the sticker off the nb anyway)
Socket is 90* too on that :D
edit:
Might as call release date as today
Asus 890gx board:

edit:
Another one at newegg, gigabyte board:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...8435&Tpk=890gx
The molex connector at the bottom of the board is ..eh.... surprising?
what the hell is this mobo come from?:D
The jumper by the 8 pin power is just odd.
I've also never heard of this company. I would like to see some reviews before I say if it's good or bad.
think, its some china mobo :)
that's one big heat sink and vr section.
Change the ram slots to red and it almost looks like something EVGA designed.
Did a little research. For those interested it appears they have been an OEM motherboard supplier since 1994.

Time to retire and buy an iMac
As far as NDAs go:it's an agreement between 2 (or more) parties, not some kind of "law" that everyone has to obey.
Basically if I (or anyone else) "acquire" a product before it's released officially
I can do whatever I want with it - post pics of it,overclock it, or
throw it in the garbage.
Now when someone signs any agreement and then breaks it - that's a
whole different story.
One thing I really don't like is when there is an NDA in place, but one or
both parties "let it slide", like in the case when
P55 motherboards were available in China only (I think) weeks
before the "official" launch.
there are great ATX boards out there; more than enough...
we need osme proper micro atx boards as there are only 2 models out there: the jwele 785g extreme and the dfi JR 790GX...
The MSI 890GX motherboard is ready to launch... just yet under nda.

I like that mobo...except the green color. Seems to be the best heatpipe implementation for a while on AMD boards. Also the 90 deg socket makes a lot of sense for a lot of coolers that dont like being turned on an AMD.
Hate that sata position :shakes:
chew Im with you on the bulldozer. This Triple Core is going to have to hold out till then or there is going to have to be a real cheap Hex core. But what I want for MSI and the bulldozer is a board with the Lucid Hydra. Im waiting for some info back from my contact in Lucid.
