Looking forward to CES
I F***en knew it had to be EVGA :D
Pretty amazing, isn't it? It HAS to overclock well! :D
 do want! at first, i thought it was photoshoped, but looks like it just might be the real thing. so boards accepting i9 CPU's is also backwards compatible with s1366 i7 chips right? hope this board won't break the bank! i would love to crunch on this with my two old i7 920's.
edit: nm that was an ignorant comment. this will break the bank. classified was $400 at launch, dual socket skulltrail was even more, so i'm guessing this will be around the $600 range.
What if I told you that Dave already knew. :p:
Oh my ... now to figure out how pay for it.
I knew I wanted to upgrade my i7s to i9s but this is looking mighty tastey
So is this like the unofficial new skulltrail?
If it OC's well and has SLI then this is the board of my dreams. Its just a shame the combined cost of a pair of i9's and the board will be well out of my price range.
I can't imagine the insane amount of computational power that two oc'd i9's would put out. Its just... wow... It will take i9's right.
EVGA you just blew my mind.
So much pr0n, so few tissues :shakes:
Aren't Gulftowns/Westmere still considered as i7? I thought i9 was those eight-core/Beckton ones.
Oh no!! Dave's heart's gonna go out when he sees this! :p:
could be i7 or i9 , I don't know. that's just marketing talk.
Most of the ES hexcore cpu's show up as 'DP Westmere' in cpuZ. Nothing more.
Only a matter of time before word got out, I guess ;)
Yes, this is what Dave, me and a few others are waiting for - FINALLY a way to overclock all these nice DP Xeons. I'm planning to pick up at least 1 to OC the :banana::banana::banana: out of a DP Westmere... for a single machine that will do around 100k WCG/d :D
just found this tweet from Jakob ...
Yes, it is a Classified model :) And all the features one would expect on a Classified.
I'll second the "Oh My" I posted earlier
If you have the $$ for that MB and the CPUs for it I found just the case to put it all in. Newegg. :D
supermicro still rulez on server boards ...
http://212.83.253.36/a_images/produc...QM3-2_spec.jpg
Quad AMD CPU Opteron (support 6-core) with Dual SLi

Quad AMD CPU Opteron (support 6-core) with Dual SLi
http://www.supermicro.com/Aplus/moth...55/H8QMi-2.cfm
funny ... there's 2 Quad AMD Cpu mobo with SLi ... but there's NO Quad Intel Cpu with SLi :p:
there's no Quad CPU for Socket 1366 ... as far i seen :(
http://www.supermicro.com/a_images/p...DAT-G_spec.jpg
Dual Intel CPU Xeon (older 604-Pin) with Dual Sli
http://www.supermicro.com/products/m...25/X6DAT-G.cfm
That may be, but the last time I had some questions re. CPU compatibility for one of their boards I got bl**dy short shift from the service/support people.
Perhaps they didn't know that while I'm broke now, this is the field I'm studying and they're pissing off a potential corporate customer.
Oh man if it is a true dual X58 board...! I've been looking for an excuse to get a liquid cooling solution for my duallie, this could be my ticket!
holy ..... damn, what's the word? Nevertheless, this is second Christmas to all DP guys. And the groundbreak that could get me into it :toast:
will all the little chips above the right hand socket (in the pic) have a heatsink like the one on the left?
http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/1042/31615028.jpg
Found this one =P
only 7 pci-e slots ?
How many of those connectors must be filled? I mean 3 6-pin connectors and 2 8-pin. Thats a lot of power
Don't forget this: :p:

Not in this catigory buddy.
Digital VRM's, independent voltage control to each cpu, ram voltage control.
3 phase on the ram even.. yada yada.. The Skulltrail 2 board we were expecting. :D
Umm... ive seen one play crysis pretty well.
But it had 2 295GTX in SLI.
well i can see those sata conectors will be in the way again.... when will ppl realize that ???????
the only other question i have is this... can you put 4 dual slot 295s or 5970s in there???
or could you put 7 single slot cards for one hell of a folding/milkyway/collaz/ anyother gpu ready crunching rig???
Simultaneous quad fire and tri sli anyone ?
Holy mother of mainboards. This is something. A classifiedCLASSIFIED.
How much PCB layers?
Over here it would be http://linitx.com/viewproduct.php?prodid=10881
over there maybe http://www.rackmountpro.com/product....2155&catid=275 as a starting point
so what case can fit this jumbo-ATX form factor? it looks bigger than E-ATX
been saving for a new cruncher for a while and the q6600 has done me well,
watch this space
stupid? you have to have a server based 1366 for that evga mobo correct? you wouldn't be able to run 2 920's on it? I have got to win the lotto  :yepp:
Well, it is the new Skulltrail ;)
Correct. Btw some pics from other threads:

FOUR GTX 295's!!!
I've never wanted a motherboard so much in my life. This thing looks incredible.
I suspect that with 2 nf200 chips and a few flexible risers once the bios matures some you may well be able to use ALL the pcie x8/16 slots now that could be an interesting GPU Grid/Folding machine and you could soon have 24 threads of WCG at the same time
I don't suppose anyone wants to share their OC results with us do they?
What kind of OC's are the Xeon 55xx chips capable of? Does the QPI hold them back or does it not make a difference and are they on par with the 920 and other desktop i7 CPU's?
Dual QPI makes no difference. Gainestowns OC just as well as Bloomfields, if you put them in an overclockable motherboard.
Expect even better OCs from 32nm parts, believe me when I tell you 24 threads @ 4,5Ghz 24/7 is very realistic. I've got the CPUs since september or so, now WHERE IS MY BOARD :p:
I want to see those numbers jcool...
Try 100k/d WCG :D
Damn I want one, but a lot of cash I do not have to buy one :( :ROTF:
Look ... I want this board as much as the next cruncher but seriously, unless you have a real passion for DP this should likely be a pass as it will be much more economical to buy and crunch 2 mobos instead.
Yeah, but 8/12 threads per board is SO 2009... :D
It might be more economical to BUY two 1P boards, but I can't see it being more economical to run two 1Ps compared to the same processors in a 2P board. There's just too much duplicated hardware using double the power for it to work out.
Even if it costs $10 USD more a month to run 2 1P systems that is only $120 a year and you
will likely be paying that in the difference just for the board itself. Keep in mind I'm talking about crunching and
crunching only so there is no need to go high end inside the X58 world. This is all off the top of my head so if
anyone can help out with a ballpark estimate of what it would take to kit out this out this fantastic DP monster
that might help those of us who are trying to work a budget
Ahhh yes ... that accursed word ... "budget". It ruins all the best laid plans of mice and cruncher alike.
I can't wait to see the results after someone clocks the snot out of a couple of serious hexcore xeons with this puppy:up:
Congrats to EVGA and everyone involved in helping to bring both the OC and crunching communities a to a new level
is there any update to when this board will actually be available?
Also I believe the correct form factor is XL-ATX just like the Classified 4-way
This thing is so sick; realistically; what would be the estimated cost of this mobo and cpu's? I am guessing approx $600 for the board, $1000 or more for ea cpu? Ram, I believe it can run standard DDR3 or reg EEC, correct?
I have never ran a system with dual cpus' would this benefit you for standard use or do you need to actually run special programs to benefit from dual cpu's?
anyone want to buy me one for my birthday coming in August?
and it sounded like only 2-3 months for availability at around the $500'ish range maybe up to 600.
I so love this thing and I'm currently pricing out options for this or a 6 core i9 SP system. Still debating on if I'm gona take the plundge or not. Already got a PSU picked out but only a few days left to jump on it
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341028
And i just bought the PSU ;-p
EATX XL is that size which only fits inside about 8 cases isn't it?
Is it really going to be EATX XL?
Bugger. I've got a powder coated V2100 I was hoping to drop this into.
He lives!
YAY :woot:
YAY, Dave is posting!
I'll either get a mountian mods case (They are out of Bend, OR didn't know they were somewhat close to me)...
Or if Mick ever gets his case made that would be friggen sweet

http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/k...EVGA-x2CPU.jpg
I have no faith in my abilities to create cut out paper people let alone a cardboard PC case. Though I suppose I could just slot it into one of those industrial crunchy nut cornflake boxes. :D
After removing and eating the cereal of course.
That would be a whole new level of ghetto
Dave is alive!
woohoo!!
I am not big on cases but THAT case of Mick's is one that gets my vote ...just waiting like everyone else
