Oh god not again, It was an April fools joke!

ow boy it comes back to haunt us...if Movieman spots this he's gonna spank Waterflex
Next time read before you post

You saw the exciting "Preview" of the new dual core king - the E8700 from Intel. Now you see the angry, sad, disappointed face staring back at you through your glossy monitor after seeing that you just got April Fooled. Ashton Kutcher would be proud.
:stick:
Holy **** ! That`s just an April joke?????
you'd better start to run !!! Movieman is gonna getch ya !!
YUP! Grabbing my "spanker" now!
i looked and looked for an E8700, spoke to people inside In..ahh, places that should know and NO ONE had heard of one.
Now Intel did make a 10.5 multi dualcore with specs of 3500/6mb/1333 E0 stepping BUT it was for the dual socket 771 boards and it was called a X5270.
I know, I have 4 of them sitting 2ft from me..Never tried them though..
Shame on you sir Dave !!
lol
I`m noob :) That`s why i`m laughing
You got 4 CPU's and you do nothing with them, not even downing national geographic series... ow boy, let them fffffffoooooooooollllllllllllllllllllllllllldddddd dddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd
Intel® Xeon® Processor X5270 (6M Cache, 3.50 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB)

:eek2:
LOL, Intel are mad!
What happend to the ''I got a e8700 by mistake'' thread?
I'm wondering the same thing. Could you check if they've moved the thread to the selling and trading forum section? I can't access it yet (soon, though!), but it might be possible, since it basicly turned into a selling thread.
But it was still wrong to remove the thread as it wasn't the author of the thread that was offering to sell as such, only very keen forum users, hence it shouldn't have been removed and cmon, such important case is just being turned away like that, I'd classify that act as being rude to the person that's sharing some very valuable and interesting information. So -1 to the mod for this one.
I hope this won't turn away the owner of this chip to post more info. :(
Is it in the selling and trading section of the forum? I still can't access it, eventhough you should be able to do so if you are at or over 100 posts, right?
I is not in the FS section, I just had a look.
I think Intel made everything disappear! :D Seriously, they could have bribed him :p: Maybe they didn't want to leak this, because of some unknown reason?
Or maybe it was just a hoax to get some easy cash :p
I told him to be fast before Intel cnocks on his door. At least, I did save the picture

Ever crossed ya mind the typing is on the tape and not on the IHS ? Don't you think it's a bit too crisp and clear ? Dents in the IHS are weird too...
I thought it as well but 1:1 from the uploaded photo

Best print I've ever seen on Intel CPU, I don't buy it (yet)
Im not saying it is fake, but its just hard to trust pictures.
http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/6...9ad24o0.th.jpg
if there were only a few made the print would be pretty decent.
I've seen a lot of Intel CPU's in all shapes and forms, till now not one with such a crisp print on it... Nice work NBF that will be a golden CPU woohoo E8800 stock at 6ghz :p I hope at 1.1Vcore
Sure, you can manipulate every photo you want, but he provided a non-rejected CPU-Z-validation, too.
@Leeghoofd: Consider that the original picture is an greatly enlarged picture done at a good illumination and 8MP-resolution. It`s not fully comparable with a sight with your own eyes as I noticed several times before. :)
really, what happened to that thread? i was following it too. i asked why the prints of the laser etching looked so dark and black, but no one else noticed or comment on the printing. laser etching is just suppose to be a different shade of silver, so that's why i questioned it.
He wasn't trying to sell. Other people were trying to buy :D
I still think this case was dealt too rough, editing the post and then posting a friendly reminder about the rules had been better imo. When there were ppl hanging around his neck like that which is understandable, it's only natural to give such reply.
the point is from which angle he take the photo...
here a photo from a old X6800 ES
http://img5.abload.de/img/25m61.jpg
or this... same CPU, different angle...
http://img5.abload.de/img/5xv8o.jpg
http://img5.abload.de/img/4i7fh.jpg
Here is another angle also
lol that little camera icon on the bottom means it's on ebay now? i can't find the listing...
Hey, that scuff mark above the laser etching looks familiar! Where have I seen that scuff mark before?:ROTF:
Here is the close up.
http://www.teampuss.com/runmc/e8700s.jpg
so another fake or what?
so you must be the guy trying to get a few sales i guess lol
This the dude you guys are talking about i assume?
http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...t-mistake.html
Only thing he talks is about selling it if the right deals comes around... wanna take a chance to get majorly ripped off, grab ya Visa !! Guy supposedly can't even up a picture nor a decent screenshot... ow boy
Does anyone here think it will do 5ghz on air then 24/7 ? He thinks it can lol... man al his hardware claims are so flawed. And that forum is full of... (fill in on the dotted line, a tip : it rimes with bees ) talkign about world records and 4ghz at 1?1 volts, didn't we have that before at 500FSB... I would love to see a picture when his rig posts and it says E8700... can he shop that ?
this is funny too :
then this follows :Quote:
Ok, let me clear this up. I won the 2 QX9650's
so did he win it or buy it ? Make up ya mind dude. He excuses himself by being up 24 hours lol... good grief...Quote:
Now really I was not happy. When you buy a 2 QX9650's and one is a dual core and I already thought I was crazy to order from a guy in Malaysia in the first place. I thought I was sure screwed
I rather have a quad at 4ghz. It's magic for benching 3DMark 01 to have that extra multi.. but Hwot and co will not approve any score with it... Dual cores are passé, no need to cash out for outdated hardware... I would rather invest in an I9 then to buy this fake or not CPU for maybe 1000 dollars or more... (and there's one that wants to pay him already 1200 bucks lol)
My E8700 came from the same place as his. The seller sold a bunch of QX CPU's this week. He had 0 feedback and he had two E8700's. I won one of them. I tried to upload photo's here, but they exceed the 200kb upload limit. That Q829B259 is the real deal. There is a little sticker on my CPU that says: Full Vista Installation Test....O.K. Mine is not for sale. Fearlessleader is Famous Like Amos and he told you the honest to Gods Truth!:ROTF:
Why would you win an E8700? what's the deal on that, you buy a Qx and win an E8700 ?
Leeghoofd: This sounds like a load of crap to me also.
well the cpu-z seems valid lol, but the guy just gives away 2 unique cpu's like that... I want to see boot screens or even a video where it tells me E8700 detected, can't be that hard to make these days Seems these lucky guys are total software noobs to even uplaod a decent set of screenshots on request like that ( resized )
maybe he won them on ebay? You bid to win right?
One says hy bought one or more qx9650's and get an E8700 for free, other one is still making his mind up if he won or bought it lol... masta scammers in action ?
This came from the other thread that I removed.
IMHO he came here to sell the chip and since he couldn't access classys, he tried another approach. I beleive the chip is real and used from ebay.Quote:

I won it in a cracker jacks box.
Ok I am going to take a chance here because it is not right to trash a guy that can't defend himself because runmc put a gag order on me. This puts my membership in jeopardy, but somehow I just can't sit back and have everybody wonder. Yes I am still here.
post us a boot screen plz where it shows E8700 CPU... did you win or buy this CPU now as you contradicted yaself on that other forum ?
This is clearly not fake. It seems more like everyone calling fake is just mad that they don't have it themselves. :S Photoshop a CPU-Z, easy. Photoshop the picture of an IHS, a bit harder, but okay, plausible. Photoshop a CPU-Z, an IHS, AND crack CPU-Z validation...uhmmm...
And to fearlessleader, there is no "gag order" and that had nothing to do with your former thread being removed. We just take sales attempts very seriously, and having a rare piece of silicon doesn't exempt you. I'm sure tons of people are wanting to have their curiosities indulged...so continue by all means.
You got nerve put a gag order on me so I can't defend myself and sit here and slam me. I won the Qx's on eBay from a guy in Malaysia OK. I thought these may have came out the door lunch box express. I did not have any idea when I posted my first words that the whole world would scrutinize everything I ever did like Magnum PI or something. My first thoughts where just to find out if the chip I got was worth keeping at all. I just needed to know what I should offer the guy I was buying them from. I never came here to sell it. I would not have kept the chip anyway. A normal chip could have been put up on eBay and sold in a day rather then sending it back to him. I just did not have a clue what it was worth because there was no retail version out there as a price guide.
I've spoken with this guy fearlessleader and he seems legit to me.
I was the one who asked him to email me the pic and I'd post as he hadn't used imageshack before..
He did email the pic to me and I posted it, that simple.
Now runmc was right to pull the thread as it did offer to sell outside the FS section so no one can fauly him for that.
I also look at the fact that fearlessleader has been a member here for a fairly long time and has had no issues here before this.
I also see this whole thing as passion and just wanting to share his joy on finding this chip and yes, seeing an opportunity to sell and make some money and realistically, most of us would do the same.
So lets try and see all of this in the correct perspective ok.
He's not a bad guy, just someone who fell into a deal, tried to share and also tried to sell but since he wasn't a user with a lot of time posting on Xs wasn't as up on the rules as he should have been.
You know we have somebody who can verify if it's true or fake here ;)
Dr Who?
The date on the pic the guy sent me was Wednesday so i have no reason to think it's faked in any way. I even commented to him on how the writing(etching) was showing up then realized there was a piece of clear tape over the cpu holding it to the cardboard it was shipped in.
I've got the right to remain sceptical about the pictures posted , we've seen to many frauds already (mostly april fool ones, also posted o linked on zilliosn of sites), Also FYI I've posted before the CPU-Z seems legit. So there you got me really puzzled if this is the real thing.
But a few tips :
If there are only two samples of this CPU, I have got no clue IF HWbot crew or others will pick itup in the rankings. So if you tell anybody this can be a world record breaker, better warn them of the potential risk that the CPU could just turn out as a collector's item and maybe is totally not allowed to be used in rankings.
Also don't claim it can do 5ghz daily for sure. If you haven't tested it , don't tell it to the folks. Could be it's a dog overclocker over 4.5Ghz on air or water, because eg it runs too hot. Make sure ya claims are backed up.
And don't contradict yaself in the same post dude (other forum) or be clearer how you obtained it. This was the main reason I got sceptical about all this in the first place. First you told that you won it. Next paragraph you were pissed because you bought 2 quads and turned up with one quad and one dual core.
I hope you will get a good price for it, nothing more nothing less... be offended or not by this post...
5GHz on air seems doubtful. As it stands, we aren't FSB limited, so unless this is some super binned silicon the extra ,5x multiplier won't do a great deal.
HMM..
OR:
10.5x450 water cooled for your daily gamer..
4725mhz sounds like a nice number to me for a gamer:D
Will it be faster than eg 9 x 500 Dave, that's the question... many E8600 can run them clocks daily at 1.35Volts...
That was mainly because E8600 was EO not CO... my E8600 does 4Ghz (500FSB) at 1.13Vcore rockstable, 4.2 needs 1.21, 4.5 needs 1.36Vcore...(so I surpassed the sweetspot there) When benching with LN2 I can get away with 6.1Ghz at 1.75Vcore
People tend to forget that the leakier chips are the ones that clock highest with xtreme cooling which is why i7-920's tend to go higher than 975's..
The validation is all on air cooling so the leakier ones validate at lower speeds.
Took me a long time to realise that.
With that thinking this particular chip might be fine for high end air or water but lousy on LN2..No way to know until it's tested.
I still doubt it though, even the lowest leakage E8600 can't manage it.
A birthday present for him? I'm sure you can organize something :p:
I wish myself that I was in a position to pass this along to him, but the truth is my disability check and the little money I make fixing computers out of my house don't make it so, I just can't look this gift horse in the mouth. I said it from the beginning when I started my thread I wanted someone here to have it once I knew that was important. I know in my heart that its bigger then me. But I am sorry I don't have it that way. Man I wish I did! What a better way to clear this up then if I could afford to do so. As much as I would love to be part of such a thing finding and donating then having it become the champ of chips. I just don't have like that to do so. Sorry wishing I could do don't make it so
Who is Hipro?
http://hwbot.org/article/news/hercul...wait_its_hipro
There is a taste. You can search for more.
Well one can never say never concerning an E8700. Anything is possible!;)
Who is hipro? WHO IS hipro? That name to us is like Donald Duck was to your parents when they were growing up :D
