XSPC Dual DDC Reservoir

Just got my hands on one of the new XSPC Dual DDC Reservoirs and test fitted it in a Coolermaster ATCs 840

No doubt, its a quality bit of kit and comes complete with both black and silver face plates so should fit in with most standard brushed aluminium cases and for those wanting to mod there own face plate like myself it will be an easy mod to design and cut your own bezel.

Was a tight squeeze to get it into the 840 but once its in, the black brushed alu face plate matches the case perfectly and looks stunning imo and i think many would be more than happy with how it looks right out the box.

Nothing on the XSPC web site to suggest what fluid can and can't be used but i've used Feser in many of their other similar reservoirs without any problem so would imagine this would be the same.

Anyway, i thought id get a few pictures up installed in the chassis and also add some blue and red dye to show the potential of the dual loop.

No doubt there will be testing done soon from those that can but just thought i'd add a few pictures.......

Looks good outside of the XSPC logo. I would prefer it to be a little more understated.

I like it...and it also looks like the inlets were changed a bit on this version, the previous inlets were squared tubes(acrylic IIRC).

Can you comment on vibration noise and mounting method? I like the res, but I really enjoy having a soft mounted pump.

You have to fill the res up from the top which isn't very helpful if it's in your case and the tubes are cut to the exact length.

check out the foam at the top, the top of the res is flat.

Yea, seems it's best to mount these in the top bay and drill a couple of holes in the top of the case. I've seen those little rubber circle plugs that might help to mask the holes. :shrug:

I think Honda was referring to the fact that the inlet tube basically feeds directly into the pump inlet. This makes it really hard for the air to escape from the loop and into the res itself. Vapor had suggested to try sticking a large ziptie or something else that wasn't aluminum in to the res and placing it over the inlet to help divert the bubbles. Of course it is temporary and you want to make certain it doesn't get sucked into the pump.

Its not a problem u only need to either A : have a case where the top can be removed. B: Add another 15mm tubing length and pull it out slgihtly to fill.

It will eventually escape though right? I don't care if it takes an extra 24h or something as long as it gets bled properly.

Yea adding a little extra tubing wont be a problem I think, it doesn't take much.

Yea, it will bleed. That was just a suggestion to make it a little quicker.

See the four black things on each side - they are rubber grommet type things so once the res is fitted into the drive bay it is essentially rubber mounted :up:

Which is why I have to leave an empty bay above the reservoir.

I'd love to be able to put it into the top two bays and then put a fill port in the top of my case, but the ATCS 840 has two buttons and two LEDs in the way there. Doh!

In fact, I haven't found anywhere in the top of the ATCS 840 case where I could put a fill port. From the exterior it looks like you have many potential locations, but from the inside there's always something in the way. Grrr.

Yes i have the first model Dual DDC, the rubber grommets on each side eliminate any vibration. ITs just as if the pump was mounted in rubber gel.

i currently have the Xspc dual bay 750 and am thinking about adding a second loop, this looks like just what I need. Without sounding to stupid, all I need to do is buy x2 Laing DDC pumps and remove the top from them and install into this res yes?

Depends on the case really.

If you have a blank above the res, it shouldn't be an issue. Most bay reservoirs have the fill ports at the top.

I think he was more refering the fact that the return line is right above the pump inlet. Tough for the air to escape. :shrug:

Mine is the single res version. No extensive testing but I saw a 3*C difference in loop temps, with my CPU loop being cooler with the 1080 rad. Flow rates on both loops were >= my previous single loop setup.

I've bled my system now 3 times with the res, and no issues. But I've got Koolance VL4 quick-disconnects at the pump outlets and a drain tube which helps immensely. :)

EDIT:
This is before I switched the FM16 flow meters over to the FM17 models, which eliminated a lot of the extreme tubing bends I had.

For everyone with bleeding issues, I found a quick fix to get the big bubbles out. I took a small length of tubing and cut it in two length wise. This will make a long half pipe like chunck. I then inserted it in between the inlet and infeed tube. Now here you have to be careful. If you turn your pump on be ready for a gyser as it follows the half pipe up and our of the res. Just place your hand over the opening making sure you don't push the tube into the res. Easy and not sticking aluminum into your res.
