Guys, check this out !

gonna check it out in 5 days :p:
Thx for the heads up!
Is a TWKR considered "commercially available hardware"? Going to lean towards no :(
My TWKR sucks compared to my first retail 955 :) ~5.9GHz 06
So how does unlocking 2 cores and overclocking to 4Ghz+ count?
Interesting, I'm not entirely clear on the rules though. Might have to give it a shot if I can find a good enough chip.
If something says "NOT FOR RESALE" it's not commercially available... The prizes were a bit boring as well, but I'll see if I'll give it a go anyways, gotta find the time.
:ROTF:Challenging Competition.... Especially on wt hardware to use.... I think a good 940BE will be having a great advantage
seriously though, except for the ram there is no incentive at all to go for top CPU OC... a $100 video card for first prize and 2nd and 3rd prizes are cards that you couldn't even sell if you wanted, and still the top 3dmark score prizes are weak too....
SNiiPE_DoGG - exactly my words.... not even worth ordering LN2 for that...
SO do you compete and overclock just for prizes ??? :(
overclocking is going in the wrong way if this is the feeling .........
About 6-7 years ago anybody would like to score as high as possible just to say " I'm better than you ...." and now, WTF, we compete for prizes ????
interesting that they use 3D06 and not their new 3DMark
well I am just saying that the prizes are weak...
I am not in the competition but the way I see it, you do benches for fun and put them on hardware bot, but you spend lots of time and money going for the top spot in a competition the prize should be worth the time, the least they could do is give you a 4890 that you can actually use for WR benching for first place, would cost them what $20-30 more considering they are an AIB for ATI....
can I use different CPU for 3DMark submission and for CPU submission?
Dudes, it needs Futuremark approved drivers, and there are none for Win7 :(
hmm I wonder how much my 720 BE is worth unlocked.
As far as there choice for 06 over vantage.....well I guess they don't want guys killing mobo's to all arrive at the same 5.7ish wall.
Oh really? I must be special then ;)
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=11557635
How much % OC does unlocking a core qualify as?
An I repeat the question, if somebody has an answer:
Can we use different CPUs for 3D06 and for %OC?
why it shows users ID not their names and why we couldn't see their ORB Link ?
If you search through the scores......on the orb you can find them by the actual score ;).
I'm liking these 2 rules.
I think it will keep things on a more even ground ;)
Must use commerically available hardware
Futuremark and Gigabyte Reserves the right to reject any entry
Waiting for Gigabyte to send me a new board but it's taking them a while :(
I cant even find the submit button? Can any one link it to me :S
http://www.futuremark.com/community/...igabytedragon/
http://futuremark.yougamers.com/foru...d.php?t=108611
So aparently, you just submit your eligible result to the ORB and it'll prompt you for your e-mail address, enter your e-mail address to be ranked for the comp. :shrug:Quote:
Q: So how do I enter?
A: Enter the lucky draw by submitting a 3DMark06 result using a Gigabyte motherboard and an AMD CPU and give your email address when prompted or login to ORB. To be eligible for the categories where prizes are given to highest scores, you have to publish your result.
Hello guys !
Here is some problem with ORB. I cant make pesult public
^^same here :( when i click on "make public" page just refreshes with no result
Me and elmor did two quick runs, those are at the top right now. Used a Phenom II 965 for it, and it turned out to be a pretty awesome one with 6030MHz core and 4.3GHz NB on the Gigabyte board. Gotta test it on something else later.
Question to organizators
Valid is OK, but i can did it public, what i can do ?
I use catalist 9.8
With other version (9.6 for ex) same.
3D mark 05 is OK
http://img44.imageshack.us/img44/7364/orby.th.jpg
Problem solved :)
Just clean install Windows and install 9.6 Catalyst first helps me
Nice score, DeDaL. A retail 955? :)
Awesome score dedal o.O!
Very nice and extreme score mate
Very nice DeDaL! :D
sorry for my question :
If somebody use ES chips is there any way to find it on ORB Link ?
Big congrats Dedal, really crazy 955 you got there! :D
Sure I have a private comparison on the ORB.....NO way to tell they show up as regular 955's
Looks like a few peoples "retail" 955's are better than hand picked ES high leakage according to my comparison.
BTW the CPU OC % of the comp has not been adjusted yet.
This is over 100% oc not counting the extra core.....full score counts....720 BE unlocked, stock clock = 2.8g 3 cores

Maybe there should've been a mandatory screenshot as well, not that I doubt DeDaL or giorgioprimo, myself and elmor even less. We only had one retail quad-core chip, so we used it, it was a 965. It passes Cinebench in 6140MHz, for some reason we couldn't get that working during our late night testing yesterday... Oh well, there's at least prizes for third. :D
so if there isn't way to identify these chips in ORB how could we know that it's a ES or not ?
the problem with AMD is that they don't hand out ES handpicked's, they give Retail handpicks to users.
Thats just a statement, i believe dedal's and meanmachines scores :). i have used a retail 955 that did 5850 06 and im sure with more tweaking 5.9. so what is 100mhz more. just takes some Binning!
so it's a honesty contest ?:)
I am sure there are others who know exactly whom also to confirm. I also assume there was a limited number of these CPU's passed out and they might show up else where.
These chips from my understanding have different markings than other chips, but they show up the same in CPUz ?
This could get interesting.
honesty contest indeed :).
it can't be helped though
Update from FM site.....
Hey guys,
We're still going through the submissions (including Chew*'s score) and waiting for some final rulings from the jury.
Official winners will be announced on the contest page once this is done. I'll also notify this thread at that time.
There may still be changes to the results at this time, so stay tuned.

Update 2.
Chew*'s score has been investigated and the CPU overclock score has been calculated with the proper default clock frequency putting him in the #1 spot for CPU overclocking.
This should also fix the CPU overclocking score calculation for anyone else with an unlocked AMD CPU ("AMD Phenom II X4 20" or "AMD Phenom II X4 B50" ) in this contest.
The results are still being checked for issues, so stay tuned for final announcements.
 to FM staff....
Nice Job Chew !! :bows:
and Congratz !!
Watching to see how the rest of all this unfolds
Here was one of my results from the over all score......
My final score was done with 5989 cpu @ 1.875 vcore and 3800NB at +.60vNB_vid last day of contest.
Unfortunately it was a hail mary run and crashed while trying to grab a screenie....luckily I had saved the result already.....
Nothing stellar about this chip.......I tried to make the most effecient use of what clocks I had.
http://chew.ln2cooling.com/qdig-file...mp%2034525.jpg
Nothing stellar, yeah right ... your definition of stellar has to be different from mine. As always, inspiring score. Glad to see you around AMD
Well, it seems you're satisfied at least, now that you got your win in the end. Congratulations.
Satisfied?
There was no discrepancy with my result....it was a win all along.....the engine in FM just didn't recognize it...they had to update the engine for all unlocked cpu's.......
definition of stellar....Subtract 150 mhz off these chips and you know what it can do with dual 4870x2s.....

Latest Update.
FM STAFF
" Re: Gigabyte Dragon Overclocking Competition 2009
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FYI, current schedule is that we will announce the final winners list on Monday."
Today, for some reason my result on 6134Mhz was deleted from the rating of the TOP CPU overclockers. I do not understand why, and much surprised at this fact.
orb link still valid..
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=11934910
None of the components was not an engineering sample.
That's the problem. :)
Nor was mine.......not even a review sample. Just binning ;)
http://chew.ln2cooling.com/The_Laboratory/720BE.jpg
So lets hope that guys from FM will do right things
So Monday has come, any updates on the final results ?
i think it already update
http://www.futuremark.com/community/...igabytedragon/
as i mentioned before, open cores will be count
Winners are posted on their forum: http://futuremark.yougamers.com/foru...4&postcount=62
Actually only the winners of the CPU OC part of contest are finalized......This just in....
"It appears there's still an ongoing investigation with the jury that I wasn't informed about concerning the winners for best scores, so there might still be some changes.
Basically this means that the score based winners have not been contacted yet.
Apologies for the inconvenience."

Anybody heard anything regarding prizes yet? G.Skill were very fast, the RAM was delivered yesterday, but I haven't heard anything from Gigabyte, FSP or Enermax...
Mean Machine you recieved memory via FedEX ?
Yup, it was FedEx.

Information to organizators:
I have 2 email adresses: treacer@mail.ru and treacer@gmail.com
I think Gmail must be better. Becouse mail.ru sometimes block emails.
Thanks. :)
