on web is only 1.0 BIOS .... CPUz says 1.0B23 ... voltage on AUTO in BIOS ...
tomorrow I'm gonna upload a beta bios tray that, i think it will help
ok, will wait ...

Heatsink at idle! - 63C! Temp Monitor in Genie software says 74C on IOH ... without active FAN on this hatsink, mobo still freezes or getting Bluescreens ... IOH is too hot.
Hi, I also have that board. IOH is the same temp as yours (85C and climbing). I attached a fan blowing direct onto the IOH HS and it's now running at 64C. But still, that's kind of high.
i am glad to hear, someone has mobo too ... but these temp problems are tragical ... absolutely unusable mobo without FAN on heatsink. But in box is no FAN. I have lot of another problems too, if i run Genie or Overclocking center ... system in few seconds/minutes hangs. Especially OC center is very slow and unstable ... do you have similar problems? DOT aplication is not working at all ... but OCing (if is stable is good)
I have not tried any included software whatsoever yet. I prefer to do everything from the BIOS, not even sure what this Genie does, have to read the manual more! Hhhehheh
yes, of course ... but for review i have to try a software included. Try Genie and OC Center if works for you, thanks.
What is Genie anyway? Is it the GreenPowerII?
yes
We also got this board today... will have to see what temps we get
OverClocking takes a few seconds to load, but other than that, it doesn't lock or freeze. It froze once because I was already in a OCed state from BIOS. Once I put everything to stock, simply running the OverClocking program doesn't freeze my system...not sure if that tells you anything. For Genie, I have to unplug my power connector and insert that module, correct? If that's the case, since unplugging the power connector means I will to have undo the fan that I kind of tied around to this connector, I probably don't want to undo it at this time.
Well, so much about marketing junks that this board comes with DrMOS2 to help it running cool, everything goes out the door as far as this claim is concerned. Very poor IOH Heatsink implementation I will tell everyone that.
MSI claim : we separate NB/Sb and mosfet hetasinks, it is best for cooling" BUT this is biggest mistake, heat cannot dissipate from two poultices without heatpipe to some robbed heatsink ... before launch, this must be corrected or FAN included in box.
here there is a beta bios, i tested it,seems stabel to me but use it at your own risk.

About the temp problem i solved in this way:
1) dismount the heatsink
2) clean the bad therma pad originally used with tryeline
3) put some good therma grease, i reccomend to use no conductive grease ( i use artic ceramic)
4) take out the fancy blu plate over the heatsink
5) mount again
6) put a little fan over the NB area
It worked pretty fine for me
I am a previous owner of MSI eclipse and I have tested the MSI x58 Pro as well. I really hate the split thermal design that MSI implemented on their X58 boards. Engr's in tawian are still saying it is still within the intel's tolerable limit which is 100C ... Well yeah it is but overclockers and enthusiats really hate high temperatures :) so basically i removed the crappy purple thermal interface material that they used and replaced it with as5 ...remove the push pin and spring and replaced it with bolt and plastic nut. added a 40mm fan as well and temps during idle is below 50's while around 60's on 4ghz overclock and load
I cannot find the specific pix for the eclipse but below is the pix from the x58 pro :

How long are the screws you have taken ?
I own a MSI X58 Platinum and have the same heat problems.
(over 70 °C idle)
Anybody got an idea which 2nd party passive heatsinks would fit on it ?
thermalright HR 05 / HR05 sli i think are better than the stock ... i believe the length of the screws i used was around 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch ... sorry i just took it out from my screw collection :)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ig/bartsig.jpg
in the eclipse plus there is no push-pin but screw to hold the heatsink, wich are really well made IMHO.
BTW the purple thermal pad is not good, so swap it with a regular thermal grease will be ok ...........
Eclipse nad Eclipse Plus are NOT the same .... Eclipse has NB/SB with heatpipe to heatsink above mosfets, there is heat dissipate ... and NB heatsink is bigger and better, on Eclipse Plus is only "pankcake" heatsink withou that heatpipe. Under heatsink on Eclipse Plus is nforce 200 too, and this hot chip too. Guess why has EVGA Classified HUGE heatsink? Because NB+SB+nF200 are damn hot! Only way to stable OC board is FAN ... but where is that fan in BOX?
ive tryed 2x new thermal greases, but temp are the same ...only FAN is solution
Since using a 92mm fan, my temp is now 56 (was 66 using a smaller fan and 80+ w/o any fan).
Cable is messy, but here is a picture...

Okay, you know when the board POSTs, usually with other brands I've owned, it makes one or two beeps only...but with this MSI board (and my former X58 Platinum SLI) it makes more than two beeps in quick succession...is this normal? Does your board make that many beeps, too, or is it just mine?
Looks like if I have OCed my board from within the BIOS as soon as I launch OverClocking, my system crashes. I still have yet to install GreenPower even though I have gone back and insert the module. Hope MSI can come up with a better working one soon. It's useless otherwise as of now.

Mike.
Hey, guess what? With the previous BIOS (v. 1.0) I couldn't do 21x200 stable, now I can do it and run LinX without crashing...think 1.0B25 is good so far. How is 1.1B1 different?
Doesn't this board has NF200? EVGA Classified with NF200 is that way too, NB heatsink is very hot too...
yep, especially when that NF200 sucker heats up like a thermonuclear reactor lol
Heh "NF780i days" are back. :)
(780i+NF200 = hot)
Yes, but who needs it? 8+8+8 or 16+16+16 is the same
Sorry :(

Mike.
Classified is same way, must put a fan on mosfets heatsink otherwise temps 80c idle and up to 100 benching but board shuts down so no damage. With fan 80c while benching high overclock.
This board looks real nice I love the black and blue scheme of it! Hopefully it turns to be a good clocker once the bugs worked out I might switch!
Does the Eclipse have loadline calibration ?
Since i cant find this in the Cell Menu of my Platinum SLI.
Pretty annoying !
Loadline has Giga and Asus boards ... and YES MSI Eclipse Plus has this function in BIOS too!
is not a normal think to have a 80° on chipset....
but is not normal to have a bluescreen at 80°.....maybe at 110° ok but no at 80°
check ram setting for resolve bsod
80 is +/- normal (but not for me), but under load i reached 100 and crashed. Now is everything OK, i have fan installed ...
What is Loadline anyway and is what's the better setting for it (Enable or Disable)?
i am using always Disabled, with LN2 too ...
Guys (and Ladies), it's a platform problem. These are sad designs and the user takes the brunt. It sucks, but remember nf4?
hi,
where can I buy this board? I'm in the UK and I cannot find it anywhere to buy. Help appreciated :)
thanks
Nick
eBuyer got one, well, five! :D http://www.ebuyer.com/product/165696
http://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?board=54.0 | Take a look around, there's plenty of cases with incredibly high IOH temperatures. Cooling design flaw, just like the P7N Diamond...
giorgioprimo - have you please some new BIOS? Last are unusable CRAP, this mobo is bad dream ... better Giga UD4P for half-price
oh ebuyer now have 4 ;) thankyou for the link
I think this is the worst motherboard of all time lol. Everywhere i turn i read something bad about it, MSI is garbage in general for motherboards from what i have read and seen.
I got my board back today. No, it wasn't RMAed. It just went back to the seller who still needed to review it. I flashed with the .1b1 BIOS and it seems to run good so far. It is OCed to 21x205 right now. Trying to run OCCPT to stress it.
I think there's an incompatibility issue using this board with 6GB OCZ 1600 Platinum memory. I tried one kit before, wasn't able to stabilize it even at stock speed running 1066, 1333 and 1600with a 9-9-9-24 timing (this memory is rated to run at 1600 @7-7-7-24 with 1.65V). Tried it with different BIOS. Tried it with Auto and Manual. I think that kit was bad, I RMAed it, got a new kit in, tried that kit, same problem. With the same setting, I tried Corsair 1600 kit and it runs perfect whether OCed or stock. My conclusion: Don't mix these together or you will not have a good ending. Try something else.
With a 1.45v vcore and 21x225, I managed to boot to Windows and got a CPU-Z Validation screenshot, but it's not stable.

I took off the fancy heatsink covers of both the IOH and SB/NF200 chipset and moved the video card down to the second PCI-E x16 and drilled two holes on somewhat square dowl (wooden stick), screwed a 92mm fan to it, and aim it directly above the IOH and SB/NF200 chipset heatsink...this helps with cooling the two heatsinks tremendously. If anyone wants a picture, please let me know and I will try to take one or two for you.
Hi
the Temps ar very brutal
Have every Body a Watercooler for the SB and NF200 Chip?
I can not found anyone for the NB is no Problem but i can not removed the HP than i have no cooling on the NF200 and SB?
I can Boot with 232 Bclk i will not give away the Board but with this temps no chance to High OC :(
This issue has been discussed in the MSI forum and one user has posted a fix here: http://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=126885.0
Thanks RUSS
:)
anyon the key for SetFsb for the MSI Eclips Plus ?

Link to download the bios please ?
Just wanna rank my frustrations here. It's horrible news. My RMA came back from MSI and they sent back my board unrepaired/untouched. There is only a written note on a piece of paper saying "Sample board." It's still as dead when I sent it in. I'm absolutely going nuts right now. The seller is not answering any PM or voicemails I left for him so far. Just wrote him and email and left another PM. I'm at a complete loss right now.
:up:After consultation with the German company Anfi-tec, this is a water-cooling for the MSI Eclipse Plus designed!
